We've had one of those years where all the…read morebig expense items happen- car accidents, ER visits, car problems, and eventually septic issues. We weren't aware when we purchased our house that it was on septic (happens with an as-is purchase) and found out after doing a good bit of landscaping. We decided to leave the tank be until something happened and sure enough a few months later after some heavy rain we found the original concrete tank had started collapsing in on itself forming a small sinkhole (aka toddler death trap in my toddler's favorite place to play). In a tizzy we called multiple septic companies to get an idea of how long it would last before the whole system failed and to get quotes on replacing the tank and drain field. Sandhills were some of the first to come out that same day to look at it. Other companies couldn't come by for another day or two. From the start I appreciated their quick response to help calm nerves when other companies weren't as rushed to help. I did end up getting quotes from 3-4 other main companies around and ultimately we went with Sandhills for a few reasons but the biggest one was they were the only ones who were willing to work around our wild garden situation and try their best not to kill things. The other companies were a lot less willing to work with us on that and also were very pushy about doing things "their way", which just didn't allow for much as far as saving our plants went. The quote we got from Sandhills was a little higher than the other companies but we chose them for their willingness to work around plants and their professionalism. They weren't able to fit us in for about 3 weeks, which stressed me out with a septic tank on the fritz and company visiting us and a toddler all while being pregnant, but thankfully the tank lasted and we didn't have to resort to another company. I do think they'd have done their best to move us up if the system totally failed but they are also busy so it just worked out in the end and I'm thankful for that. Rodney and Deshon were very nice and worked hard during the two days it took to replace the septic tank and redo all the drain field, and also demolish the old tank so it wouldn't be a sinkhole anymore. He even had his son out working (summer job I guess!) which sped things up. A few things were unexpected for them like a lot of groundwater filling the hole before placing the tank but my toddler and I were out there watching a lot of the work (excavators are pretty cool, and I'm a soil scientist who loves to see some redox features) and at no point did I hear any complaining about that delaying them or the heat or anything. I've worked manual labor jobs before and am prone to complaining about things like that so I noticed and appreciated that. They also didn't up the final cost due to those delays and I thought that was a possibility; given our year I'm thankful they didn't! Overall I can't recommend them enough and am very glad the stars aligned for us to hire them. Nearly all plants survived the chaos and I am finally not stressed out about our septic tank.

They gave me a quote initially to repair the soffit and fascia, replace a few broken shingles, and fix a leak located around a pipe boot. They gave me a quote initially and then when i finally decided on them their quote ended up being hundreds higher. They cited that higher prices and demand had driven prices up. I said ok, we signed the paperwork and I waited. I called. I waited. I texted. I waited. Finally someone got ahold of me and told me the work had already been done on my home 2 weeks prior. No scheduling. No verification. No sign off. I was not home during this job at all. There were items from the job incomplete. There were still shingles missing and guess what the roof was still leaking. Rocco said that we would have to do a more extensive repair that was not covered in the original bid. We said we would try to get more money from insurance to cover the additional repairs. Rocco stated he would work with the insurance company as he had experience working with insurance companies on the regular. Eventually after calling my insurance company it seemed he had never contacted my insurance. I thought he might be a busy man so I set up a meeting with all 3 of us. Rocco did not join the meeting at the agreed upon time and therefore missed the meeting. My father-in-law who had done roofing before was visiting from across the country and got up on the roof. Stated that it looked like a shoddy job if completed honestly at all. I asked Rocco for all records of my job any paperwork, internal communications, and photos and videos that he said he had from the men doing the job. Rocco said yes and has now ghosted me. I still have a missing shingle and a leak, over a year after the hurricane now. There was no offer to tarp the roof, no customer service, dodging calls, shifting blame, poor business practices, and shifty attitudes. Do not use R.L. Hayes. they may be coasting off their good reputation before Helene but it seems that they have had a very negative turn company wide after the hurricane.

They will take all of your belongings, and throw away things without consulting you. They won't properly inventory your possessions, then they'll misplace things of all value and size -large and small, cheap and valuable. We were reassured many times that they wouldn't throw things away without our consent. They have tried to throw away some perfectly good things, and then when we requested items to be returned but they still disposed of them. Their employees will steal valuable things or at least try to! They even tried to dispose of my daughter's bible -an engraved gift from her now deceased grandmother- it is in pristine condition and is one of the items from our "unsalvageable list" that they wanted to trash but we requested it to be returned and they did, but many other irreplaceable things they did not return when they should've. They will hold your belongings hostage until your insurance company pays for the cleaning of it- our cleaning bill- just for things removed from our home was $24,000, and guess what- THEN THEY BROUGHT IT BACK FIVE WEEKS AFTER REQUESTED WITH HALF OF IT STILL COVERED IN SOOT AND DUST!!! $24,000 just for cleaning contents and they didn't even do half the work. They repeatedly delay and then charge your insurance more for storage when the delay is their doing. They will hire subpar subcontractors that damage your home- the painters applied latex paint to our oil based painted trim. No one truly takes accountability for problems they just make one excuse after another or shift the blame to another employee or department. I am not going to leave out that they have done a few things properly, but what they have done wrong far outweigh those. I would never hire this company again. Those who have failed the most are their contents team, management and the owners. Brian, Wyatt and Roy were all in our home for mitigation , they worked hard and were very polite. Brian was misleading about some of the documents he had me sign right after our fire- and now their general manager is trying to use those against us... saying we gave them permission to dispose of anything they wanted to, yet verbally and in text, they reassured us repeatedly that nothing would be thrown out without our permission. Nicole in billing wasn't good with communication in the beginning but turned it around and was very helpful. Our fire was April 5th, it's September 19th and our job still isn't quite done, we have had servpro working at our house less than 30 days total...since April. These photos are a fraction of our contents that they were paid $24,000 to clean that wasn't even touched. The last two photos are of things they brought to my home that belong to someone else. They all should be ashamed, but they are far from it, even arrogant when responding to the problems they've caused.

Had an issue with my insurance company and a scheduling conflict and told them I would call and schedule one it was resolved. Called in March to schedule a date and have been ignored for over a month. They only have one scheduler (Patrick) for all locations and could not even bother with a call back to schedule a time in the future despite multiple calls from me to the office. Hate to see this from a supposed reputable company. Also see on Google Reviews they are using their own employees to leave reviews.

All South put on a new roof in one day, cleaned up and picked up everything. Next, we had new windows and soffits installed. Next project was removing the cedar siding then hardie board installed. Last, the painters sealed all the joints and painted around the windows and painted the hardie board. Result was a brand new appearance for our 45+ year old home. So pleased with every aspect of the work that was done. All this was accomplished over a 10-11 day period, even working on a Saturday to stay on schedule.
