If I could go negative stars I absolutely would. I was scheduled for a gi procedure at a Stanford facility. I was supposedly consented for this procedure, however this man spoke maybe 10 words to me, and none of them were about risks, benefits, plan of care or anything. I had been given videos to watch before procedure, but that is absolutely not an informed consent. I had to ask him to come in after the procedure before I left and it was the second time that day I had tried to get information from him and he acted as if I was putting him out to speak to me. Add in how absolutely shi$#% I felt afterwards and I'll never step foot back there. Ice had a number of endoscopic procedures and have never come out gagging, choking, and had pain swallowing even water for 4 days afterwards. Hard pass on this guy, wait longer for someone else, he's abysmal. read more

I found Dr. Singh to be engaging, thorough, patient, and straight forward. I honestly was a little trepidatious, reading some of the reviews here. I did not find him dismissive, and believe me, I've had dismissive doctors. In fact, he is my second GI doc, because my original one was dismissive AF (she prescribed me meds for a condition which I do not have and for which there was no medical or clinical evidence, and then basically shrugged her shoulders when I asked follow up questions). Do NOT go to the doctor if you're looking for someone to help you find answers or listen to your concerns. he was unprofessional, dismissed my concerns and then called my self advocacy delusional and then didn't like my response so removed me from care. Previously I was a patient at Sutter. The gastroenterologist diagnosed me properly, but proved unavailable when I was having problems from gastric losses a few months later. I ended up being hospitalized 4 times within 2 months. I switched over to Stanford and was assigned Dr. Singh. He identified other conditions that could be contributing to my problem, tested for others, confirmed my original diagnosis and shifted his focus to dosing me properly. He developed concerns about treatment I was getting from a nephrologist and referred me for a second opinion. He was upfront that once he had me headed down the right path that he wouldn't be monitoring my nutritional issues, but referred me to a RN who would. I feel like I have had textbook, high quality care from day one. At first he was a little stilted, but I've warmed to him and he seems very concerned with my care. He even let drop that he discussed my situation with his wife who is a nephrologist. Above and beyond care Id say. I recommend him highly, and his staff too. read more

Dr. Singh performed my colonoscopy at the Emeryville office. I've always had a great experience with Stanford Health Care, and this was no exception. I only spoke with Dr. Singh briefly, but he answered my questions and reviewed my past history and knew of previous issues. In addition, the assisting medical staff also were very helpful and friendly preparing me and setting expectations. I did not talk with Dr. Singh enough to know much about his bedside manner. I'll say he was very efficient, but also answered my medical questions completely and with insight into my particular case history. read more

I was very impressed with how thorough and efficient every one of the staff were. I was at the Emeryville office for an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy and was treated with respect and patience. They double check and triple check everything, even your name and date of birth. They do it all while being very engaging. I felt like I knew the staff all my life. I don't know what they are doing here, but clearly they are doing something very right. I would recommend them 110%. Dr Singh knows how to make you feel at ease even if the conversation is regarding pain. I would give 6 stars if allowed. read more

I do want to provide my review based on my personal experience as I see that this Doctor get overwhelming negative feedback about his attitude. I had a positive experience of his diagnosis and my condition was gone after 5 days met the doctor. I recently had some acute "stomach" issues and sustained for weeks before I met Doctor Singh, and I have seen multiple doctors, done multiple test, multiple times, and it was improving slowly. On the day I met the doctor, he was late for almost 10min for a 25min video visit, and was able to finish with 5min left, so you can imagine he stormed through a diagnosis process that usually takes 25min to 10min. He was "rude, ignorant, and not listening!" that's what I all was thinking after the meeting. In addition, he diagnosed me as constipation (commented: many people doesn't believe me when I tell them they just have constipation) and recommended try Miralax first, while I hoped to do a colonoscopy. So I was very suspicious of the diagnosis but it worked in the next few days and my symptoms were gone. This saved me a surgery. So my guess is that the doctor already studied my case before meeting me, and my illness was easy to diagnosis for him. I also want to mention that even the doctor's diagnosis was quick, he always reply to messages by himself and with in a day (instead of many other doctors you only get replies from assistant or NP), so in total I feel the communication was good. I want to conclude that don't let your perception of the attitude of this doctor preventing you from adopting his professional advice, and getting yourself out of the pain quicker, easier :) read more

Wow, this was one of the worst experiences I ever had With a doctor. Rude, condescending and incompetent. I don't even know where to begin since every interaction With him left me infuriated. He didn't listen, didn't help with any questions, and on top of everything charged me over $700 for a 10 min phone consultation where he recommended breathing exercises in response to my complains about stomach pain and gas. Not good at all. I would recommend to stay away from him. At my last appointment he acted like he was annoyed and irritated with me. Dismissed every point I was trying to share with him, was extremely condescending and refused to do a deeper analysis/tests I was asking for. Rushed through an appointment without making an eye contact and I left feeling disappointed and hopeless. Now back to square one, looking for a competent doctor who can actually offer solutions and answers. Pretty awful experience :( read more

This doctor is absolutely the worst experience I've had with a medical professional. He is rude, condescending and cold. Really unprofessional and terrible bedside manners. Didn't answer any questions, rushed through an appointment and last, but not least I got surprised with an astronomical bill for a brief 15 min phone appointment with him. Not sure how Dr. Singh is even comfortable with this level of service, but I'd recommend avoiding him. Major dismissiveness and disappointment. read more

Do not go to this doctor. He was not interested in answering ANY of my questions. He sat across the table and did not even look at me once during our 3min consultation. I did have a great discussion with one of the trainees there. Overall it was a disappointing experience and I will not go back to Dr Singh. If Stanford health care assign him as your doctor, find another one. read more

An open letter to this person I had my GI appointment with you and while you answered one of my many questions in a roundabout way, the rest of the meeting was extremely disappointing and complete waste of time. Dr. Sundeep Singh, you are rude, judgemental and condescending person who instead of listening to a patient's concerns, enjoys playing a thoughtless shrink. If you are so done with being a GI and want to be a psychiatrist, please go back to college and get qualified first. Just because there are more nerves in the gut than the brain, doesn't mean you can read your patients. Let me tell you of your problems: you think that you have many of them so others don't deserve to have theirs. You lack empathy and compassion and I am almost confident that you also lack self-compassion. I feel sorry for you but you have to learn some bedside manners and become a better human being first. What disturbed me the most was you started accusing me of "not telling him something." You said that most of your patients don't tell you the truth but there is always anxiety and depression behind all GI problems--very well could be but why would anyone lie? You started second guessing me by saying that my anxiety is giving me these "acute" symptoms. I told you that I am a balanced individual and I have average stresses that any Silicon Valley professional faces. It is also true that I am acutely sensitive, mainly 'because' of my stomach issues that are not getting resolved. No one is looking holistically and so I was in your office for a third opinion. Your loyalty is clearly to your colleagues and you right away told me that the third time will 'not' be a charm. Thank you-- but there will be a fourth time because I have a Ph.D., a deeper understanding of the subject, and more awareness and compassion for my own body. I know when something is wrong and when "quick-fix" doctors like you are missing something. I will keep looking until I find the right GI who is more holistic, competent and compassionate. You want to scope me because I turned 50 even when I am telling them that I am in acute pain in my upper left abdomen. What's amusing is that you also said with confidence that you will not find anything there. Most likely it will be IBS. Seriously? So you just push for procedures because they need to be pushed on schedule? Without getting to the bottom of an acute symptom? What disappointed me the most is: you failed to see the MRI or X-ray that I brought with me. You kept voicing your diagnosis based on your preconceived notion. You said that I was most likely "full of poop," even though that's not what the report says and that's not what other doctors think. Maybe you are right and they are wrong--but you did not even look at the images given to you. That's negligence and carelessness. You deny that I have inflammation even when my CRP is elevated. You deny that I may have an obstruction and want me to drink gallons of Miralax but are unwilling to consider what if I get bloated? Oh, you asked me to "suck it up" because I am afraid of colon cleansing prep? Ask any woman who has given birth to a child--we are not afraid of anything. My concern is this prep will send me to ER because no laxative is giving me full relief and I feel I am ready to explode anytime I have a laxative. My experienced endocrinologist, experience 30+ years, has been my doctor for last 8 years, thinks my concerns are valid but you think I need to "suck it up?" You are a disappointment to your profession. Suck it up. So why did I give you 2 stars instead of 1? I have more honesty and compassion than you. You answered one question in a roundabout way and I feel sorry for you. read more

I first saw Dr Singh a few years ago after I had been experiencing diarrhea multiple times a day that continued unrelentingly for several months after a course of antibiotics. I could not go anywhere without fear of an accident. I had tried various probiotics, yogurt etc to no avail at the advice of my PCP. Dr Singh listened to me and I listened to him and felt he was very knowledgeable. He suggested I stop the probiotics, take psyllium husk and if needed Imodium. I tried his advice and by the very next day the diarrhea was gone! One dose of Imodium and psyllium and the diarrhea stopped and hasnt come back. He checked on me by phone several weeks later to see if the problem was gone. I was impressed with his knowledge, patience and caring. Thank You Dr Singh. read more

Not a good experience at all. This doctor has an unpleasant bedside manner, and I didn't feel heard at all. Distant and detached, and it was very clear when he walked in late that he had not reviewed my chart or background at all. The appointment felt rushed and it felt like he already had an answer before he even heard me out. His recommendation for treatment did not make sense to me at all, then I got another opinion at Sutter as well as an additional specialist, and it was totally different than Dr Singh. Plus his charge is close to $650 per hour and I was there for all of 10 minutes after he was late coming in. Go figure. We have so many wonderful physicians in the Tri Valley, stay away from this one. Zero stars read more
