The city inspector told Excel to remove the roof and reinstall it with plywood at their expense, but Excel is ignoring the inspector and the Department of Labor inspector and me the homeowner. Excel's poor workmanship caused water damage to the interior of my home too and they only offered $4000 for the interior damages that are estimated to cost me more than $100k. Dealing with Excel Exteriors has been a disaster. They're still saying, they didn't do anything wrong(!) What a bunch of con artists, they took the money and ran. It's been a year, the house is still a wreck and Excel's owner, Alex Shikhlinski has gone into hiding in Florida, refusing to redo the roof and close out the open permit which will never go away and cost me more than $20k to redo out of pocket.

We believed everything was finalized. Then the project field manager came out, raised issues involving labor that had never been discussed or included in the scope, stayed about 20 minutes, and left without any real explanation. When I contacted the sales representative, he **acknowledged that Ridge Top had made a mistake and failed to account for additional labor**. We were then told we needed to pay approximately **$5,000 MORE**. This was not additional work we requested--it was a mistake on their end, despite the home being measured twice before the contract was finalized. I asked if Ridge Top would absorb the cost since their own error caused the issue. There was **no management call, no meaningful effort to resolve it, and no itemized breakdown explaining the additional $5,000**. Instead, the message was essentially: **pay the additional amount or cancel.** The most disappointing part wasn't that a mistake happened--mistakes happen. It was the complete **lack of ownership and customer care** afterward. We had a signed and notarized agreement, financing approved, and had done everything expected of us as customers. We ultimately cancelled. A company should stand behind its estimating process and work with customers when its own error is discovered--not place the financial burden on the customer and make cancellation the only alternative. Took the 3rd contractor from The Handyman Company to agree to do the job (it was a tough one, one side of the shed had a 1.5 foot clearance between 8' tall Vinyl fence, which was not removed for shed repair). The Contractor also fixed a section of wood on a shall building for our hot water heater and built wood trim around beams at the base of gazebo (to hide metal plates).
