This is one of the worst banks and definitely one of the worst branches of banks I've ever dealt with.
In fact, I wanted so badly to make certain everyone knows this that I am not only wasting more of my life writing about this bank, but even added the branch to Yelp as it didn't appear before now.
First off, let's talk about my big belief in doing as much local business as possible; hence how I ended up choosing Suncoast as they are one of the few FL banks that aren't yet consumed by someone else.
Next time, perhaps I'll do more research because things that seem like normal for any bank evidently don't apply here...
Now, let's talk about the insanity associated with opening an account here. Their process (or lack of) is absolutely absurd.
I went to open an account for my business, I was stopped in my tracks because all shareholders of the company have to be physically present to open the account and sign signature cards in the presence of a bank employee at the branch. Really??? Any other institutions the solution to this is Express mailing paperwork to be notarized and then resubmitted. I should have know right then what I'd be in for...
So next time my business partner came to town from VA, we marched down to open the account... before we began the process, the banker hesitantly informed is this takes about 90 minutes; wanting to make sure we had time. Though this seemed excessive, we assumed this to be because wanted to open up credit lines and also apply for other business financing...
...Well, it didn't take but so long to realize the reason it takes forever to open an account isn't because we Had 3 things to accomplish, but rather because the bank account paperwork requires the banker to enter the same info over and over again on like 10 different screens... literally a hand-written application with copy paper CIRCA 1983 to duplicate info would be faster to process the account paperwork.
Once completed, then he began the credit line paperwork... get this, only to find that while they are more than happy to let you open an account and make deposits, because not all the shareholders are FL residents, they will not allow you to open credit lines or loans. Needless to say we were pissed as we would have never wasted half our day opening the account had this been disclosed up front. In fact, by then the only reason we didn't close the account was because we already wasted more than 2.5 hours here.
So beyond the bank itself being terrible, the branch itself is equally bad.
Any given day, that have 1 person splitting time between the front counter and 2-3 drive thru's. It's nothing to have 1 car in front of you and it take 20-30 minutes to make a deposit.
Recently, they literally had 1 person working the front and drive windows at 2Pm on a payday Friday??? WTF???
Anyway, I've wanted enough of my life dealing with his bank and now on this review... I'm out... and will be out of the bank soon.
As a follow-up to my first review, this credit union absolutely sucks... still.
We've banked with them for now, one year... We've been in business for 11 years... We've got an excellent Dunn and Bradstreet rating... We've never had a balance below $10,000 in this account... Yet even though we had $70,000 in our checking account today, they placed a seven day hold on the check we deposited for significantly less than what our balance was.
Clearly they are using our money to collect interest by holding the funds in a house account... I mean, even Wells F. doesn't pull a 7-day hold; especially on a business account.
It's 2018, checks clear the bank within 24 hours of being processed... even large ones.
Give me a freaking break people, will be closing our account once this check clears. read more
