Getting everyone organized before singing happy birthday 5.cake cutting & passing out desserts And that the gym was exclusively for us. I want to express my disappointment with how my daughters' first day at gymnastics was handled…read more My mother brought my daughters to the facility and immediately informed someone in the office that they were new students and that it was their first day, so she was unsure where they needed to go or what they were supposed to do. She was instructed to wait in an area with the other parents. When it was time for class to begin, no one came over to my mother or my daughters to explain where they needed to go or introduce them to their instructor. After waiting approximately five minutes and realizing that no one was coming, my mother had to return to the office herself and explain that she still had no idea where my daughters were supposed to go. As a parent, I find this extremely unprofessional, especially because the staff had already been informed when my mother arrived that this was my daughters' first day. When someone is starting a new program, there should be a proper introduction, clear instructions, and someone available to make sure the new students know where to go and who their instructor is. I was actually on the phone with my mother during this entire situation, so I personally heard what was said and what happened. That is why I was very disappointed when I called the facility and was told that she did try to help my mother and had provided my mother with instructions. I heard the conversation myself, including when my mother was told to wait in the designated area and later had to return to the office because she still had no idea what was going on. She was also told, "You didn't ask anybody," when my mother had already gone to the office upon arrival specifically to explain that this was my daughters' first day. This should not have been something my mother had to figure out on her own. The fact that this happened on their very first day made the experience even more disappointing. First impressions are important, and unfortunately, this experience was very unprofessional from start to finish. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes sure new students and their parents receive proper guidance and communication when starting the program.

There were ample amount of classes to take advantage of, with many different sempai's and sensei's sometimes from out of state and out of the country! What was great about the exposure to the guest instructors was that you were then exposed to different teaching styles and philosophies even though the principles of Aikido are all the same which involve philosophy, spiritual and of course martial aspects which train in effective ways of defending oneself. The school is great for adults, kids and as a result families. The parking is plentiful, except on testing days and seminar days. Overall I enjoyed my time here. The senior students for the most part are very supportive but just like any school many of the other students are a mixed bag. Still, if you're going to train in Aikido, in NJ, I recommend here.
