The folks here were great. While they are primarily geared towards contractors, they offer tools that amateurs like me can rent as well. I needed a saw pole and they were great at showing me how to start it, fuel it, etc. I rented it for a day. I am convinced someone didn't put the chain on right because it took forever to cut various branches, and after an hour or so, the chain came loose. You can't open the chainsaw without the exact tool; after trying with various wrenches and socket wrenches, I called ABC and they said to bring it on back. They fixed it up for me, loaned me the opening tool in case the chain came off, and I went back and this time the tool cut through branches like butter. As I mentioned, their customer service is great and they're quite friendly and aim to please. The prices are reasonable for a tool rental. It's good to know about this tool rental space so close to home. Would come back. read more

I really hate leaving a bad review after receiving nice customer service but I had too many bad experiences with ABC to cut it any other way. I needed to rent a couple of sanders in order to refinish my floors. A friend mentioned that they'd recently used ABC and it was cheaper than Home Depot so I figured I'd go with it. The price was good and as I was checking out they mentioned that they'd given me waaaaaaaaay more sandpaper than I'd need but they would buy back anything I hadn't used. I had the option of paying then and there and receiving a refund in the mail within 2 weeks or they could just keep my card number on file and charge me when I brought everything back. I figured I'd go with the latter so I wouldn't be out $100 for 2 weeks. The issues started after I got home. The drum sander worked just fine but within 5 minutes of using the edger it unexpectedly jerked back, nearly hitting my boyfriend's foot, and the paper had melted to the pad. We just assumed we were using it wrong but when I turned to my trusty Google there was absolutely zero information about melting sandpaper. Apparently it was a unique conundrum. Nevertheless, we were determined to get everything done over the weekend as we'd planned so we kept using it and realized that we just had to let it cool down every 5 minutes or so. This was a huge hassle and after accidentally burning through another piece of paper we ended up having to go out to Home Depot to buy extra sandpaper and a new pad. Ugh. We managed to finish the upstairs but as soon as we brought it downstairs it just stopped working. We checked all the outlets and the extension cord but it was obvious that the machine itself had died. Words can't really express our level of frustration after slaving over this machine for hours on end just to get the job done only to realize there was no way we'd be able to finish as planned. Double ugh. We also realized, upon closer inspection, that the machine itself was most certainly damaged. The metal disk that attaches the pad was clearly banged up and warped which likely explains the melting paper problem. I know it's our fault for not inspecting the machine before we agreed to rent it but then again we would've had no idea what to look for. But it gets better! I then receive a phone call from my credit card company saying that they had detected fraudulent activity on my card. Someone had attempted to charge $600 worth of sporting goods equipment and electronics on my credit card. Obviously there's no way of knowing for sure but given that I have never had my identity stolen and it just so happened to occur the day after giving my card number and expiration date to ABC I had to wonder. So on top of dealing with all of these renovations I had to cancel my credit card and am now waiting on a new one which has created a whole other headache. When I returned the sanders I explained the issues with the faulty machine and they waived the rental fee for the weekend and gave it to me for an extra day for half price. While I appreciated the gesture I was still incredibly frustrated about the fact that we had been forced to waste so much time because ABC rented us a faulty machine. I also let them know about the credit card charges because I felt they should be aware in case anyone else ever mentioned having a similar issue. Apparently it's never happened before but I still feel that it's the only possible explanation. When I took the new machine home it worked like a dream. Seriously, if we'd had that one to begin with we could've finished edging the whole house in 4 hours instead of the 8+ that it took. Oh, except that the bag that it came with had a hole in it and slipped off every 2 minutes leaving me with a ridiculous amount of sawdust in my house. I wasted precious time and extra money schlepping back and forth from Baltimore to Catonsville so the whole thing was just one headache after another but I'm just relieved it's over. Moral of the story: if you're going to rent from them be absolutely certain to inspect the machine yourself because they're not going to do it for you! read more

I rent equipment from this location every other week. This weekend, I was graduating from law school, but I still had the equipment picked up thinking I would have time to use it. My client, knowing I was graduating, decided to cancel last minute in an effort to make my life a little easier. I was bummed because I had already paid for the equipment and wasn't going to be able to use it. But, ABC was kind enough to refund me for the rental without any hassle since I didn't use it and am a repeat customer.
