Sensory overload at Sunbeam. So many cool things to look at and contemplate purchasing. Things you didn't know you wanted or needed!! This store is packed with some homemade and the rest is just a variety of brands and interesting items you will never see in a regular store but wish regular stores carried. Its a well curated store with an eclectic collection of items. I can't even begin to describe the type of stuff they have it's just You gotta come here and see. Guess that's why they call it Sunbeam General Store lol... it's a small store in a cute little town called Frenchtown. We went tubing at bucks river earlier in the day on July 4th, which was a short 5 min drive away, and then stopped through this little town on our way back home to Brooklyn. My friend bought this interesting ginger brewed drink that made her stomach feel wonderful. I got my mom a pretty little woven coin purse. I wanted to buy a car air freshener in the shape of Bigfoot but I put it down and completely got distracted and forgot about it lol.. read more

For cyclists and hikers who travel the towpath, there are hiking and trail maps, as well as a variety of snacks and drinks. For dog owners, there are organic dog treats, cookies, and collars. For kids, there are toys and snacks. There are also organic grow-your-own plant kits, birdhouses, merchandise from India, jewelry, SallyeAnder soap and other handmade soaps, beeswax candles and blocks of beeswax, heirloom vegetable seeds, and some odds and ends such as tape dispensers shaped like sea otters (so it looks like the otter is holding your tape the way it would hold something it was about to eat). You can get everything from kombucha on tap to fishing tackle, quality hiking socks, unique jewlery and sweet bumper stickers. The shop is also conveniently located within eyeshot of the river and tow path, which makes it a great meeting place if you're trying to rendezvous with someone for a walk or lunch. Just when you thought Frenchtown couldn't possibly get anymore aesthetically impressive, or friendly - Sunbeam General Store hits the local scene. Tucked away around the corner, and across the street from the local favorite, Bridge Cafe - Sunbeam's welcoming front porch beckons you to take a closer look! Upon entering the store, you will be greeted by one of the owners (Hannah and Ben) and their infectious smiles. The retro toy selection made me fondly reminisce my childhood. The selection includes classic childhood favorites, gag toys, but more importantly... intellectually stimulating toys for children of all ages. Once you're done test driving the toys, you and your child HAVE TO crack open your own geode. My son loved it, and the owners are happy to give instructions and assist. Additionally, Sunbeam offers many local staples like honey, sauces, handmade candles etc. At this point, you're only 1/4 of the way through the various merchandise offered, but save plenty of time to hit the penny candy selection. You didn't hear it from me, but the owners will turn a blind eye to minimal sampling ;) We had a blast mixing our candy bags. I could spend hours in Sunbeam looking at all of the jewelry they carry (the majority of it is handmade), natural/ organic health and beauty products, sunglasses, hiking and fishing gear, artwork, handmade leather goods, all natural pet products, and so much more! The shop itself perfectly reflects what Frenchtown is - a little bit of everything, while Hannah and Ben personify the notorious Frenchtown vibe - everyone is welcome!
