I always spend between $ 106-110 buying six to seven meat entrees specials along with fresh fruits and fresh vegetables and bread and cereal for myself and my two adult children. I do not often buy the household products as they are a premium but the food specials truly are special! This approach saved me 30-40% as my weekly bill at Jewel would consistently be $30-$40 more on any given week. Selection is limited here, but stick to the specials and you'll do great!

My boyfriend and I came up to the register and the cashier saw us but decided to leave. She was returning some baskets and never came back. I was stunned. We went to a different lane and left. They have a good clean produce section. That is what I come here for unless there is a sale on pop or other stuff. All the other products are highly overpriced. No one seems happy here. No one smiles or asks to help you or talk to you at all. I guess management hasn't heard about the benefits of good customer service. It reduces employee turnover and retains customers. PS. Everything I've bought has been fresh, and the prices are honestly some of the best I've seen in a long time. Some of the deals I found were amazing: strawberries for just $0.98 a pack, a large pack of raspberries for $3.98, chicken breasts for $1.98 per pound, and ribeye steaks for $9.99 per pound. With grocery prices being so high these days, stores like this are such a huge help. The only downside is that weekends are extremely busy, so I'd recommend going first thing in the morning if you can. Even with the crowds, it's absolutely worth the trip. Great quality, unbeatable prices, and a fantastic place to stretch your grocery budget!

The wife says we came here once before many years ago but I don't remember it.  They've been at it here for 53 years since 1972. Normally, we avoid it due to the madhouse scene that is usually here (like when traffic can't even enter the parking lot from busy Milwaukee Ave because the parking lot is overflowing lol).  Well, it was -3F on a frigid Friday night and we were across Milwaukee Ave at the Jewel, and it was eerily quiet in Jewel, and we thought it was as good a time as any to also visit Jerry's lol. Well, it was relatively calm, and we found a close by parking spot, but there were still plenty of shoppers in Jerry's.  Their inventory is huge and truly impressive as are their prices.  No wonder this place is so super popular.  We picked up some cherries for $2.49 per lb and strawberries at a promo price of $0.79 per 1 lb container.  I would say 4.5 stars for our visit tonight, but really on their normal super-crowded shopping basis, I would still say 3 stars overall.  I don't personally think the hassle factor of shopping here for fruits and vegetables is worth it for the savings and the variety of offerings, thus the 2 star deduct.  But you have to decide for yourself, and apparently for many others, Jerry's is well worth the trip, and kudos to Jerry's for that and continued good luck and success to them.

There are a lot of CSA boxes available from a lot of farms. Growing Home has a great business model and gives a lot to the Chicago Community by providing job training among other things. You can feel great about supporting this farm when you buy your CSA.
