If I remember correctly, we had three tracks, A, B, and C to accomodate all of them. Generally, it was pointless since about only half showed up for class at any given day. Our graduating class had around 600 students. You do the math. Because there are four grades, there should be around 1,000 students per grade. That means of the 1,000 students who started 9th grade, only 600 made it this far. Before No Child Left Behind, LAUSD would wink-and-nod at this failure since failing schools tend to be cash cows. The bathroom was the filthiest thing you're ever going to see ever in your life. There is not enough trips around Africa that will dissuade you that, yep, the hole in the ground dug for you in an open-air abbatoir by Mbuke will ever be as filthy as the urine-soaked walls of the Poly High men's bathroom. "This use to be white" wasn't just something you say about Michael Jackson, you can also say that about the fecal-encrusted walls. Don't get me wrong, I have great memories of this place. The Thai-owned wanna-be American diner across the street was a frequent hangout. The teachers are mostly good, but I was in the magnet program. If you are a go-getter, the resources are going to be there for you. Teachers like self-starters so even there are classes that are not available, they'd take you in and do the paperwork to give you the appropriate credit. For example, there was only one French 3 student in the entire school. Qui? Moi. But the Mme. Vamosiu took the time to give me her never-used French 3 materials, left me alone, and taught the rest of the class in the only language they understand in a French class: Spanish. Let's say that you are a billionaire's son and you are well aware of that when you started school here. After graduation, Poly will make you feel that pulled yourself up from your own bootstraps.

It's great that it includes both middle and high school with a relatively small number of students, so everyone knows each other. There is no bullying, and there is a real sense of safety and responsibility. The teaching staff is excellent, and parents are actively involved in the life of the school and support its events and activities. I truly hope that Mr. Rosenthal remains the principal and that the school continues to thrive.

The program is highly rigorous and challenging (all students in the program are studying at highly advanced levels for science and math). The homework load can be overwhelming at times but there is a terrific support network to ensure that students stay on track. Our son has made great friends and loves his teachers. The academics are top notch. For the second consecutive year, The Science Academy was the number one school in the state of California with the highest scores among grades 6 through 8 in English, math and the English and math combination. For kids who love math and science and are up for the challenge, this is one of the best school options in LA.

I came to this Church for Holy Thursday Mass me and my Mom (April 17, 2025). A person that we know…read morefrom this Church she brought her Bread and came to this mass because in Facebook it said there was going to be a Bread Blessing. Everything went well in this Mass until when the mass almost finished and the priest didn't do the blessing of the Bread and just went straight to the Blessed Sacrament but forgot about the Bread Blessing. But I know it's not the priest fault because I know this priest would have done that. I Know she was not the only one taking the Bread there were many people also taking their bread also to bless it. So after the mass, we went to go ask the guy in charge of the Ushers and told him about this and he said It's not my fault that they didn't told me about this. At least he admitted it. So pretty much it's the other Ushers fault for not telling the guy in Charge and he would tell the Priest about this. There is some miscommunication between the Ushers. But also the Post for Holy Thursday in Facebook it clearly says that the Bread will be blessed during the mass and they forget about the Bread Blessing. The post is Underneath for Evidence and the mass was Recorded live and you check that also the Bread Blessing didn't happen.

If a child does not respect an adult the child will let people know. Well, this teacher decided it was a good idea to be-little my kid in a class dojo app. Which the other parents, of the other kids, can see the videos. So naturally, the parents started to complain. My kid was specifically targeted to show how she would miss behave and made and example of to the other students. (If thats not a lawsuit idk what is but thats another story.) Even though I specifically said call me if you need my help and gave my personal phone number. I would open the app and sure enough. My kid was miss behaving. Only a handful of times do I remember being a positive post. Mind you this is a 5yr old. A 5 yr old who knows nothing about school but shes expected to know from the get-go. A 5yr old whom just started kindergarten. Kinder! It suppose to be fun and do arts and crafts as well as see baby chicks hatch.... but there was none of that. For a mom, its hard enough to send your kid to school much less dealing with incompetence. So, I pulled her out. It was the best decision I ever made. Now she goes to a charter school and is reading on her own and writing on her own. Shes also doing a bit of addition and subtraction. As well as learning spanish on the side. Yet, shes still a kid and not a robot. The school system is not like it was before and the teachers union is ruineing everything. Its not about the kids anymore but the cushy paying job. If teacher would be held accountable for the students grades things would be a lot different.
