Our son struggled with anxiety while adjusting to Kindergarten, and the whole school staff from Administrators to Yard Supervisors partnered with us to ensure that his needs were met and he was able to comfortably participate in school activities. Now in first grade, he is thriving, and feels like he is truly a part of a community. We aren't particularly religious, and we were somewhat apprehensive about the the alignment with the church, but we were pleased to see that students from many belief systems and ethnicities are not only respected, but invited to share their experiences with their peers. Finally, the class sizes, facilities, and available activities made this feel like an easy choice for us after an unsuccessful gamble in the LAUSD lottery. Their is remarkable value for the cost relative to other area private schools- definitely worth a look if you are searching for a new academic home.

If you are looking for nurturing teachers, personalized attention, small class sizes and a great sense of community... then welcome home! This school delivers on its goal to provide academic challenge and excellence, as well as opportunities for emotional and spiritual growth in a kind environment. The leadership from Principal McCloud is exceptional; she is accessible and truly knows her students as individuals. Parent involvement is a real strength here and it shows through the vibrant PTO, community outreach events and the many school gatherings that bring families together.

The academics are strong, and the arts program is exceptional. One of my daughters is an athlete who has thrived in the soccer program, benefiting. The parent network is welcoming, communication is excellent, and I feel both informed and genuinely heard whenever I have questions, concerns, or suggestions. Most importantly, the teachers and administrators truly care about their students. They know the kids, believe in them, and consistently go the extra mile to help them succeed academically and socially.

Today, I'm the proud parent of two Oakwood alumni, one attending the University of Southern California and the other at the University of Redlands, as well as an incoming seventh grader. Watching our older children leave Oakwood so well prepared for college has given us tremendous confidence in the education they received. What always stood out to me was that Oakwood never asked our kids to choose between academics, athletics, or the arts. They were challenged in the classroom while also having every opportunity to pursue the things they loved. Both of our older children played varsity sports throughout high school, baseball, soccer, and softball, while also thriving academically. Perhaps the best example of Oakwood's philosophy is our daughter, who is now pursuing degrees in both Neuroscience and Cinematic Arts at USC. To me, that's exactly what an Oakwood education represents: students who are encouraged to explore multiple passions rather than being placed into a single lane. Beyond the academics, Oakwood is a community that genuinely knows and cares about its students. Our children were supported, challenged, and encouraged to become confident, curious young adults. If you're looking for a school that prepares students not only for college but for life, I can't recommend Oakwood highly enough.

I wrote a review about two months ago and when I went to check it again it was gone. I suspected…read morethe principal would do such a thing seeing as he wrote fake positive reviews. through a friend I learned that the school is shutting down thankfully. Mrs. Allagh should have been the first teacher to go and maybe this school would be running longer. The worst "teacher" (not sure if she's even qualified highly doubt it) and human I have had the displeasure of being around. I cannot fathom how she got hired. Truly an awful person not just to the kids but parents as well! This school deserves what's coming to it and I do not feel bad for the teachers or principal. I never interacted with other staff but they seemed bearable. If you enroll your child in a school and see "Mrs. Allagh" as their teacher RUN and find another school. Any place willing to hire someone like that is not a place you want to be involved in. I changed my child's school 3 months ago and is flying through the roof. Doing so much better! Best decision I have ever made. I hope their staff sees this since they never felt the need to contact me back after multiple attempts of me trying to reach out to them. I don't want to categorize all the staff into the few negligent and disgusting ones I have witnessed within the school so I will leave it at that. AVOID THE PRINCIPAL AND MRS. ALLAGH AT ALL COSTS!
