The trolleys are incredibly slow. The app does not keep up with the trolleys. You never know when they will show up. No one knows anything. Its nice when they arrive. But they need better tracking to keep people out of the sun read more

We tried to use the Sun Trolley during our visit on the Fourth of July and had a terrible time at it. I love the idea- I bet it's awesome for locals or during less crowded times but my goodness it was just a load of trouble and heart ache for us. First, the app is super cute but very difficult to use. The concept of wave and ride is great except when the doors open and you're greeted with an impatient scowl. I totally appreciate that driving during the holiday is likely a nightmare, but as a confused visitor traveling with folks that can't walk very well a little patience goes a very far way. I had been diligent to read all about the available routes and timing, planned accordingly but ended up stranded and waiting for hours after the SunTrolley was diverted without any indication or communication via the app. I think the integrated technology is great, but it turned out to be no more useful than a map. I think this is probably a completely awesome system for people more familiar with the area but as a first time user and visitor I'd recommend having a backup plan! read more

Worked for us. Cheap and easy to find. Our driver was a nice guy, friendly and helpful. We would recommend if you are staying the day and want to get to the beach or the Galleria and save a buck. $7.00 for Uber one way and $2.00 on the shuttle. $3.00 for unlimited day pass. read more

Got us where we needed to go, but it wasn't a fun ride by any means. A hotel concierge told us we could take the trolley to get to the Water Taxi, so we decided to try it out. She gave us the pamphlet with the routes, so we sort of knew what we were doing. We downloaded the app, waited on the street corner, and watched as the trolley sat at the hospital parking lot for about 15 minutes before moving. (The hospital is the turn-around spot, so maybe it's where the drivers take their break?) When it finally arrived, we waved it down (as instructed on the pamphlet), and we found out they don't offer change. So make sure you have exact change, and it's cash only! At the next stop, an older man with a cane hopped on, and showed his bus pass. The driver told him it wasn't a bus, and he couldn't ride unless he paid. He argued with her to take him one stop, and after about five minutes (meanwhile, all the passengers are trying to find a single to pay for him), she finally said she'd take him, but wouldn't allow him to sit. sigh. So, we got where we were going, but the experience wasn't the friendliest. It was cheap, and the trolley was fairly clean, but that's about all the nice things I have to say. read more

" Cheap Way to See the Town " We took the Sun Trolley around the Fort Lauderdale area because of a suggestion from our Hotel Concierge. It was very inexpensive but we had to make frequent stops where we had to see and interact with the drunks living under the bus stop shelters. I think this is probably a great transportation system for the local people more familiar with the area, but as a first time visitor I think I'd recommend having a guided bus tour with less stops. read more

You get what you pay for. I travelled from harbor side shopping area to the Galleria and back, on a Saturday with two different drivers. Drivers could use customer relations training. Don't expect them to talk or smile. The trolley is plastered with misc DO NOT signs. The trolley did not stop when we tried to hail it down with absolutely no other traffic in the area. The driver looked angry at us and made a gesture we assume meant that we should go to the nearest bus stop and stop bothering her. However, 50 cents is fantastic, and the drivers delivered us safely at the right locations. read more

CHEAP - UNHELPFUL - DISCOURTEOUS. The service has come in handy during festivals when parking near the beach is a hassle. Otherwise it seems hard to justify this service. I'm fairly sure the cost per rider is more than a taxi. My complaint is with the drivers. In my half-dozen experiences riding the trolley, the drivers were not helpful or friendly to the tourists at all. Most of the time they were downright surly. In one case the bus didn't stop at a posted stop, and when the passenger said he missed his hotel, the driver started berating and lecturing him. I ride my bike a lot, and more than once, the Sun Trolley has cut me off. Today I was riding on 6th St and Andrews, which have no bike lane or shoulder. By law I have the right to ride in the lane, just like a car. The Sun Trolley driver pulled up close behind me and started honking his horn. Then after I turned into the right lane south on Andrews, he turned in the left lane, and still honking, with nobody in the left lane, he merged into the right lane, and pushed me into the curb. Really, dude? You're driving an empty bus? Aside from not knowing that bikes have the same rights as cars on the road, you're risking a life. Please south Floridians, be courteous to each other on the road. Sharing is something we should have learned in kindergarten, before you have a potentially lethal BUS in your control. It was either $1 for 1 ride, or $3 for all day. They only take exact change, too. When we got the $3 day pass, we got this stamp on our forearm that could come off when washing hands for lunch. Word of warning: the driver may stop for personal reasons (like a 10-minute smoke break) or no reason whatsoever! Our driver let a foreign couple get on the Trolley without paying, then he took a 5-minute break just to hang out & chat with them. The rest of us were all looking at each other asking, "What are we waiting for?" There's also only one way on or off the trolley, I really don't know why they have a 2nd door. While we were trying to get off, we had to wait until someone got out of the aisle (they were busy asking the driver some tourism -related directions in a 5-minute conversation without seeing that people were standing in the aisle waiting to get off). I think you'd get more money's worth out of walking, taking a cab, or renting a car. read more

This was a very cheap and easy way of getting around. Thank god for Google Maps to tell you when to expect them to come and where to go. The bus was clean inside and the driver was super nice & entertaining. The only major down side is that at EVERY stop we had to wade thru some rough interactions with the drunks living under the bus stop shelters. Also, about half way through one of the rides we went off route to stop at a convenience store so the driver could get something. If I had known, I would have joined him to buy my own drink! read more

I love the sun trolley! We rode today from Yolo to the beach, and then back down to 2nd street. You can pay by the ride, $1, or buy a day pass, $3. It cost us $4 dollars, combined, to get to and from the beach. I don't see any reason to complain about that! When you want to pick up the trolley you just wave when you see it coming. Doesn't get much easier than that. Bring exact change, the driver doesn't make change. Once you are on, you can ride as long as you like. The trolleys have AC and typically music. The drivers are mandated to take a break, which they typically do at the same spot on a route, mine is by the broward center. However, they leave the trolley on including the AC. Today, I learned I can take the trolley all the way to Bokampers on Oakland Park! For $1? Yes! My only suggestion would be to extend the hours. Service ends early. read more

This is truly public transportation and not a trolley "tour". Our driver gave NO information and pulled over to eat his lunch. In fact, after 10 mins we're still sitting here. You get to see the beach, but also the creepy areas of Ft Lauderdale. Don't bother using this as a touristy fun thing to do. Fun is nowhere to be found on this trolley. read more

Fifty cents. Great routes. You can't beat the trolley to get around downtown and the beach. It's such a nice offering. True, for tourists there are no announcements so if you're reading this, you may want to do a little homework before boarding. And true, the drivers aren't the friendliest but who cares! Awful. Just bad. It would seem from the outside that this is just a wholesome trolley ride, but you would be very much mistaken. The drivers are rude, misguiding, and uneducated. Due to what they told us, we ended up having to walk a few miles in the blazing heat with little water because the one of our drivers told us another trolley would be able to pick us up and take us to where we wanted to be. What can fifty cents buy today not even a cup of coffee but you can get a ride on our best form of transportation. It runs from Publex mall to the Galleria Mall. The coaches are clean, great music, and most of the drivers are just great. Miss Sharon is sweet than apple pie with ice cream on top. She is a very safe driver who puts passengers safety first like Miss D another nice lady who is sweeter than a five pound bag of sugar. They run every 20 minutes ,Friday - Monday until 6:30pm , depending on traffic and the bridges going up. The other form of transportation is the bus, not has nice , $1.75 and not that clean noticed that some people want the trolley to stop in other unsafe places other than the bus stop,one new driver stopped in front of the fire station, very very unsafe. safety comes first to these two excellent drivers. Terrible. Our hotel concierge told us where to wait to catch the trolley, yet we were never able to get one. After waiting for 40 minutes (despite being told by customer service when I called Sun Trolley that there were THREE trolleys on our route), the one that finally came our way refused to stop. The trolley was empty too. She just shook her head and kept going. If it was our location that she didn't like, there was a good spot to pull over just up ahead of where we were and we could have easily caught up with her, yet she simply refused to pull over. It seems like a really good idea and an easy and inexpensive way to get around, but it was nothing but frustration for us. read more

We rode on the Sun Trolley two different days. We found it to be a great idea, but they only had two trolleys running the Sun Trolley route to Las Olas, so there was a long wait to catch it. I would recommend downloading the Sun Trolley app on your phone, which shows the location of the trolley you are wanting to catch so you have an idea on how long you will be standing around waiting. Super easy and a cost effective way to get to where we needed to go. Not so good if you're on any sort of time schedule or in a hurry. read more

1. Price change $1.00 a ride or $3.00 a day....still cheap which is nice. 2. Not for visitors... We were in ft. Lauderdale for a day and wanted to see things...thought this was a great cheap find....however the bus stops are not marked well and you spend most of your visit waiting on a trolley. 3. Terrible terrible customer service. This poor older gentleman tried to get on the trolley he had a $20.00. He asked the bus driver for change the driver started yelling at him "EXACT CHANGE EXACT CHANGE"! so the poor guy started to get off the bus. Keep in mind its a muggy 90 degrees outside and he's already sweating through his shirt. So an other passenger took pitty on him and paid his way. I like the concept of the Sun Trolley and I've had pretty good experiences in the past, but yesterday (Saturday May 28) we had a pretty bad experience. I was with my 2 little kids, boyfriend, niece and parents and we took the trolley to the Great American Beach a Party. The driver specifically told us the trolley runs until 9:30pm AND even worse, it also said that on the website for the event. We're waiting on ftl beach, it's late, I have a tired 3 year old and no trolleys ever come. I call their number and apparently they stop running at 6:30pm! The man on the phone was rude also and hung up on my boyfriend. How can they advertise that and he we are stuck miles away from where we park all the way by Riverfront. We ended up having to pay $20 for an Über. Ridiculous. read more

The website was completely unhelpful nor informative! We needed to know when and where to board the trolley. The website simply says; "Stand on the side of the road anywhere along the route and simply wave to the driver you would like to board." Um, ok, but WHEN does the trolley come by at which points along the route?? There is a large loop on the Galt Mile route that covers a lot of busy roads with congested traffic and it's not safe to just stand around on the road hoping to see a trolley and wave it down in the middle of traffic. So we should stand anywhere along any of the roads including busy Oakland blvd, Federal Highway, Galt ocean, and A1A at any time of the day and magically a trolley will appear?? We went outside and stood on the road for over 30 min and never saw any trolley. No thanks! Why doesn't the website actually provide a schedule and listed stops? It made it sounds like the trolley doesn't stop anywhere you just have to stand on the road all day and hope to see one. Not helpful at all! I don't want to get killed standing on Federal Highway trying to wave down a trolley in 3 lanes of busy traffic! read more
