It's an open-air bus terminal in South Florida ... so my criticims are based in the fact that its in an urban context relative to the Floridian America the beige surburban hellscape that is the rest of the state; The terminal is not sufficiently connected to the (Brightline) rail lines; the fact that you exit to the street and go around the perimeter instead of a pedestrian bridge connection is a prime example of why transportation should not be for profit and multi-modaly integrated instead of causing silo-ed hardship for transit riders. At least it is sited centrally downtown and next to the rail station. As to the actual terminal, there are enough benches and trash cans, and even restroom facilities (not something you can say about other South Florida transit centers). There's also so much anxiety if the bus is coming, if you're on the right platform, and the trains/buses don't run late enough. They do provide sufficient wayfinding and screens to help passangers navigating. In sum, it is a net positive to have bus and rail options integrated with each other in this urban-surburban-car-dominated-megaopolis. I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations like this to make it better. read more

I have taken the BCT buses many times, mostly to go to the airport from my condo and usually that has been a non eventful experience. They have an app for the smart phones where you can look at schedules, stops, location and more....that app is the one that will also hold your mobile bus passes, that you can scan as you board the bus. What I don't like is that the BCT buses barely give you any transfer time. Once you scan a bus pass, you have like 10 minutes then the bus pass expires. In other cities, the transfers between buses on the same direction (like southbound or northbound, for example) are free or they initial pass lasts for an hour, so you can timely take another bus to your final destination. Their on-time performance is not great either, several times the bus comes early or late to the corresponding stop, so that makes you needing to be at the stop about 10 minutes plus or minus, just to be on the safe side. Anyway, from the Galt mile to the airport is a $4 ride and I transfer from route 11 to route 1 in downtown Fort Lauderdale. When it's on time, it's a very easy way to get to the airport. read more

There is a HUGE PROBLEM with the 106 Express bus line. This bus is NEVER on time (compared to the 108 bus line), and the main issue is that it departs late from its starting point, so it's no surprise it arrives late as well. NO SHOW UPs are also VERY COMMON. We need more reliable drivers and SUPERVISORS at Miramar Regional Park and Culmer. This level of service is UNACCEPTABLE. We pay to get to work on time, and this ongoing unreliability is extremely frustrating. read more

Express route 110 has become the worst route ever. Commute is 2 hours on a good day and believe me there are not many good days. Stay away or try the express tri rail. You will save yourself the headache if you just drive to the nearest express tri rail station. BCT doesn't care because if they did they would put together a more realistic schedule so you know how long it really takes. read more

Bus 20118 Route 28 today in the afternoon was the worst. The driver was negligent and was careless about her job. I kept on telling her to stop, and please stop over and over way before the stop was coming and she just ignored me and was on her phone doing personal things. She ended up leaving me miles away from where I had to be originally. I am elderly and cannot walk too much. I had to walk very far today because of this driver being on her phone. read more

Stop hiring unqualified people simply because you need to keep the rotation going. So many of the people working as bus drivers are from countries with extremely low base IQ scores and it shows in their interactions with others. They have a definite chip on their shoulders and they make that seething hate known. if you wanna be on time for work, Uber cause you won't be in you take BCT buses. They're either early or way late, never on time. If you are taking more than one bus, forget about it. You'll never make your connecting bus. I'm originally from Philly and BCT makes SEPTA look like a well oiled machine. Heck, it IS compared to BCT. You have to flag the buses down to get the driver to stop. Or at least, that's the only reason I can think of; they will pass you without any hesitation. I don't know if they are on tight schedules and can be reprimanded for not being on time to their destinations, or if the bus is not in service. But the bus I saw today didn't say that on its banner. It just doesn't make any sense. The app is pretty much useless, because there's no way to know what's going on with the bus. This bus driver for bus number 20117 at 11:39 AM on Thursday May 5th is the rudest SOB I ever met. Me not from the area and just left my car at the shop with my wallet and credit card or I would be on Briteline. Since briteline does not take cash I walked around the corner to grab the bus to Miami from Ft Lauderdale. Do you think when I knocked on the door of the bus this lady would have opened the door... no instead she starts shaking her head No No No!!! As eanyed to inquire i was getting on the right bus. My question went unanswered until she opened the door several minutes later. When the door opened I asked her if she could confirm this bus was going to Aventura to connect with the Downtiwn Miami bus. Her reply was did you read the sign, so I asked again she said what does the sign on the front of the bus say? I went and looked it did not say Aventura... so I asked her again she refused to answer the question even after I replied I am not from here and response was looking away from me and out the window, telling me she wouldn't answer my question. I had to ask another passenger and she confirmed I was on the right bus... A simple yes from the driver would have been sufficient. This lady is a customer service pig and should be fired or demoted to rotating the tires on busses not driving them. No way, no how- is it possible to get around the Fort Lauderdale area on public transit- although routes run twice an hour, generally, there's no coordination. buses are scheduled to not connect. The system shuts down at 11 pm- and buses simply do not take people where they would like to go. Even though most bus lines originate and end at a Central Terminal- bus drivers take longer breaks than scheduled and supervisors are on-site, but just look the other way. Earlier this week, #1 Adventura was scheduled to leave at 11.10 pm and driver pulled up at 10.50 pm........but then deceided to take a loooooong 40- minute break and leave at 11.30 pm, 20 minutes behind her 11,10pm schedule The people who manage and design this system- obviously don't ride it. I was asking about the little shuttle buses that go around, this one nice lady that drives number six told me to take the number seven bus to get where I needed to go. she was telling me about where to look for the bus at, and I was in a hurry to get home to see about my sick child, and didn't know that the bus that I needed was tied up in traffic because of some kind of police activity somewhere else. So I saw the lady and tried to flag her down to get on and she waved me off and turned her head like she wasn't gonna stop and pick me up drove shuttle bus number seven. The driver from number six spoke highly of her, but I saw otherwise. if she doesn't like her job or chooses to have poor customer service skills, then perhaps she needs to retire. Not sure about the point of schedules if the buses are going to pass 10 to 20 minutes earlier, especially on a Sunday. Route 6 used to have a good reliable driver but after he left about a month ago, it's been very inconvenient with the new drivers. It's the most inconvenient way of travel. The buses brake down constantly and nothing can be done to make up for that inconvenience. Their customer service is not helpful most of the time. I lived in several major US cities and this is by far the worst, most unusable system. The 11 bus that runs up and down Ft Lauderdale beach is ALWAYS an hour late on a 30 minute route. Dear Broward County, You should probably make your drivers aware that, A) They are representing you, Broward County- my county and B) Broward County is written on the side of the vehicle they are driving. So if they don't know where they are going, or if they aren't paying attention they should probably not flip off other drivers, cut off other drivers and/or just be jerks when they drive. 3 times in less than 3 month. I have been taking advantage of the bct 595 express line over the last 6 months and I can say that b it's the best, if you are commuting from broward county to downtown miami/brickell daily. Yes, the cost is s factor, but foremost its the stress level that I do not experience when somebody else deals with the traffic. The bus stop is conveniently located at the bbt center and parking is provided. I believe they even have security that periodically drives by to check on cars. The duration of commute is about 15- 20 min longer than taking the car. In the morning s any buses leaving before 7 and/or 7 usually take about 1:05 hour min. Cost: $2.35 per ride. read more
