Ava was amazing! I was unsure on what I wanted or where to even start.. Ava was quick to give recommendations. She was so sweet and went out of her way to make the experience a little less intimidating!! read more

I had a great experience at Sun Tan City! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. Everything was clean and organized, and I really appreciated how easy and comfortable the whole experience was. I would definitely recommend Sun Tan City to anyone looking for a great tanning experience! read more

The blonde girl working today was clearly tanning when I got there. She came out of her bed after I stood there for a lengthy time flushed and clearly had just been tanning. And was not very welcoming her customer service skills suck but nine times out of 10 that's what I experienced at this location. The Lawrence location next to my work is far better which is why I go there more often now read more

I pay almost 90 a month and there's always a wait. The ladies in the front are always standing around and on their phones instead of doing their jobs. The place isn't clean. The staff is rude. I've never had such a bad experience at a tanning salon ever. They are overpriced. I wouldn't buy lotion from them unless you want to spend over 60 for a small bottle that won't last you a month. That's crazy. I can go to Target and buy one that's just as good for 20. This place is a joke. I hate going there it's awful every time. read more

I like this salon and love their deals and beds but the spray tanning booth needs some love. The proof is in the pics. Oof. read more

I have been coming to this location for almost three years now and I promise you I will not go anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and they know all about the products so they can help you find a perfect match. The rooms are always clean and the workers are adamant about getting you in and out quickly if that is what you are shooting for. Give this location a try and I assure you that you will not be disappointed! Also I highly recommend the zero gravity massage chair. read more

I am from out of town and Brett was so sweet and helpful getting me checked in. Thank you for your help & for being so kind.

Filthy rooms, staff looking through people's accounts and making rude comments. Calling paying customers rude, when in fact it was the opposite. Beware, you won't be able to handle a complaint with a manager. But they will gladly, call the police if you want to be left alone to use the service you pay for. read more

The staff is kind and beds are always clean. Every time I come in I feel like I'm walking into a place with friends, they are welcoming. Every lotion they suggested to me I have ended up loving. Ty for free tan week read more

I have been to this specific location several times and it is the absolute WORST. The girls that are working the front desk are incredibly rude, disrespectful and completely incompetent. I went in seeking the $15 spray tan promoted on their website. The girl at the desk would not honor it and would not help me get the "email" she wanted me to have in order to get the $15 tan. I have never had any issues at any other locations in the metro area. I will never go back. Lots of my friends need spray tans bc we are on tv. They will not go to Sun Tan City again. The staff entered my card informaction incorrectly and then charged me when my payment "bounded" first time this occurred i asked them to ensure it was correct... next month I "bounced" again and once again they charged me a fee. They refused to not charge me a fee... after looking over my account one of the employees entered my cards expiration date at 1989... that was before I was even born... WTF! Staff made little to no effort to refund my fees or make up for the fees they charged me... not happy :( read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! And do NOT waste your time or money. I did my research on their beds and knew exactly what I wanted/needed...told her I wanted a 30 day package and she proceeded to tell me it would be a prorated amount (2 weeks left in March) and then April 1 I would be charged the full month AND a $20 annual fee...nope, i want a 30 day pkg starting that day...we went round and round and I walked out. I worked at a tanning salon for 8 years and I knew what she was up to...wanting to make me sign up for a 4+ month membership and figured I would just do whatever she said. Don't get me started on her pathetic tour of the beds and she had no clue what they were, or what is best for my skin type. The scary part is she probably would've put me in a bed for the full time and I would've been scorched. But clearly all three girls working there didn't give a flip about anything. And when I told her thank you for your time, and I walked out, she never said a word to me, and had a look like she couldn't care less. If anybody decides to tan there, please take care of your skin, and for the love of everything, do not let them talk you into purchasing something that you truly don't want, because they will. I honestly don't know how this place is still going. read more

I bought in a package that was good for two weeks. All four beds and a spray tan. Girl told me it was good until the next Saturday after I bought. So, go in yesterday to get my free tan of the week and get my spray and they tell me it expired yesterday. Ummm, ok that is sad. I pay $5.50 to upgraded to a "faster" bed and said I want full time. Then asked are you sure? "We got new bulbs in that and it is hot." I WAS SURE AND NOBODY TOLD ME DIFFERENT. So, tanned for nine minutes and they turned it off. Like wtf?. Just came out and said i asked for full time and a girl says, well, we have permission to do that. Place sucks!!!! read more

Franco is Amazing! I haven't tanned in years now but am getting married in a few months so i decided to take advantage of the birthday bash deals going on. Well since I use to be a member and rejoined my account was a bit messed up but Franco took his time to help me! He is the only one working this morning as far I can tell and it was crowded but he was very helpful to everyone even a not so nice customer... he is just great we need more people like him. I'm excited to keep tanning and to know I'll see a friendly face when I come to this location is great :) read more

So rude! Like wow! I pay $70 / month for unlimited you think they could be nicer at this location sheesh! I'm embarrassed for whoever owns this location that's how horrible it is. Never coming back that's for sure! read more

We pay a lot for our membership and after I drive over they are closed or someone didn't show up to work. Where is the owner? This is your business and you need to step in and do something. I have watched multiple paying customers walk away because of being left outside on a chilly morning because someone over slept. I'm here now with a sign in the door "sorry for the inconvenience but we are closed today". It's being run into the ground. Either close the doors or step up and run your business. read more

Just started tanning here 2 weeks ago. Samantha the Salon Director was great! She is very knowledgeable she explained everything and made it a breeze! I did the tour of the city first just to make sure that this was going to be a fit, after I tanned in all the beds I decided it was for me and got a membership. I love the high pressure bed and the different types of spray tans you offer! read more

I can't even Statham writing such a terrible review for a place but this suntan city location deserves it. First I would like to start off with the fact that there's spray solution in the spray booths left my spray tan extremely streaky, and I did not receive my double Lake Pass, even though I paid to upgrade. The staff were so unwelcoming and constantly rushing me. I've been to SunTan City twice and both times were extremely unpleasant. I will now be going to a different Sun Tanning salon from now on. I do not recommend coming here EVER. read more

Seriously, get some help who knows what they are doing! I have been tanning at STC in Shawnee for years and I just had the worst experience EVER! The girls behind the counter Iare definitely new and have no clue! I was told there was a 10 minute wait for an instant bed and told me to go wait outside. 40 minutes later I am still waiting. A lady behind me decided to check in online after she heard what the wait time was and was able to go in front of me.....I am sorry I purchased another year long instant membership this week! Absolutely horrible! What kind of tanning place has spray tans expire in 6 days and not tell you. What a waste of money. They didn't apologize or comp me. I love this Sun Tan City in Shawnee Mission, Kansas!!! This salon is awesome and the staff is so helpful!! Great place for tanning services.

It's not uncommon for tanning salons to be staffed by young girls. But at least teach them customer service skills, please. This is not my "home" location and I'm so glad for it. These employees have no idea how to treat a customer. read more

I haven't had issues with this location until recently. Same thing happened at 119th in Olathe. An hour or more before close they close all the booths except one so they make you wait 40+ minutes when there are only 1 or 2 people ahead of you in line because they don't want to clean the booths. I'm sorry but isn't that your job? And then on top of that they let people with an upgraded membership ahead of you. It sucks. Makes me not want to come back. Lazy. read more

Great staff, they are all super welcoming!! The salon was very clean too and the beds looked nice.

I am very disappointed in the customer service when I came in for a spray tan. The assistant manager was the one who assisted me and the attitude was unbelievable. I will not be back to this location because of her. read more

This location is usually great to go to! Kenzie is always super sweet!! She knows a lot about the all products and is always so helpful!

Please Stay away.. seriously I just got robbed here. This place is a nightmare from hell.. As soon as I go in I tell them it's my first time and Sierra was so rude she sent me to the back with me not knowing anything and I needed help Turning the fans off while I went out and had to wait for her and her coworker to stop talking she finally looks at me and says oh it's not gonna turn on now you used up your time. I NEVER USED IT.. she then ignored me and started talking to someone else when her co worker was right next to her.. she then throws a card in my face and says call this number nothing I can do for now and smirked. Please do not put your self through this horrible place. read more

Amazing customer service! Knowledge staff and very CLEAN salon! I will definitely be coming back

Sun Tan City is recalling trying to make their clients happy again. I don't know what day it was but I came into the salon and only on pretty blonde was working I had never met. I asked where the remaining happy crew was and she said we fired them. Since then the Tanning consultants are pleasant, happy, and talk to you with considerable respect. I enjoy coming back here now I am enjoy the new resources for all of them. Having a good crew can make or break a business and they have turned it around so high five to management for listening . They have also added more specials for the tanning products that makes them more affordable. Keep up the good work I am once again a happy tanner!!!. I forgot to mention That always the salon I super clean, an the versaPro spray booths must be getting cleaned better because for a while they were just splotchy and making your tan uneven. The other thing is when you go into the spray tanning booths you actually have paper towels blending lotion and hairnet for a while there that was not a option. I've normally only deal with the evening crew which is a bunch of Lovely ladies that find deals for you and also spend a lot time going through the products with you and even if you decide not to get in they're not disappointing they just continue on so kudos to the evening crew because that's who I see most the time. Thank you keep up the good wor read more

The previous poor reviews are nowhere near accurate! I've been coming here for quite some time now and have never had any complaints. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond to help out their customers. On top of that, the cleanliness of this store has always been superb; even before the pandemic. This store is somewhat out of the way for me, but I always come here because of how they treat their customers. If you're looking for your next salon, look no further! read more

This company is fraud. They took $157.10 out of an account I did not have on file through my sun tan city account. The moment I received my stimulus payment that was going to be used to pay my past due balance on rent for my children / family. They took out a large amount of money. I haven't been able to tan since October 2020 due to my health. I told them this through chat and my fiancé went to the Olathe location to tell them that I was in the hospital and that I can no longer tan and the front desk really young lady said she would take care of it. That she would cancel the membership and eliminate any balance or further balance. They LIED! I made my rent payment through my checking account so I wouldn't have to pay a large fee to use my debit card and by the 01/01/21 they took out $157.10 out of an account that I do not have on file. Now my rent check is going to bounce and I am going to have a major late fee and possibly lose our apartment home. I tried to talk to sun tan city three times about this situation. To do this during a pandemic and while I have severe medical issues is beyond wrong and truly hatefully sad. They refuse to refund back the money during all the months I never once went tanning. The front desk young teen lady lied! Lied about it all!!!! I just want to cry my eyes out. I feel as if I let my family down. I don't know what to do now. My work is based on sales and since the pandemic started all my sales went bye bye. I work for Poshmark from home to help take care of my children while working at the same time. My posh username is @krystlesno if any one would ever like to check it out I give great discounts and I am sincerely desperate for help before my family and I loose our only home during the winter. read more

I have been unhappy with this location for the last 8 months and have made several attempts to call management and got no reply.... now they've changed their products and are forcing me to either use the product or don't use it and still have to pay!!! Walked in, several people in line due to their system being down. Finally get to the counter and their system returns back online. All I wanted was a one time spray tan. For this they want my address, phone number, email and fingerprint? Because a finger print is necessary for their security measures. These finger print security members allowed for them, after a client placed his index finger onto the scanner, to pull up another a completely different client and then repeat that clients birthday to him. Must happen often as the one standing there said "you guys pull up his information on me all the time, birthday 4/3 or 4/9". read more

Went here at 8 am to get my spray tan for my sisters wedding tomorrow, were the doors locked? Yes. Were the doors still locked at 8:30? Yes. Did they advertise being open at 8 am? Yes. Now I'm driving my ass to Olathe where I will be a valued customer. My last thought, how could they still be hungover? New Year's Eve was 2 days ago. Just a thought. read more

Sun Tan City - Their new spray tan booths are faulty and there currently isn't a fix. Don't waste your money. It'll turn out splotchy. - Tanning Beds Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

I really like the fact that you can go only 2 or 3 times and actually walk away with great natural Kansas tan. Quick sessions so your in and out and you rarely ever have a more than a 5 min wait if that. The girls there are so sweet and have great customers service skills. Always having a super special on tanning packages which are very affordable. I would recommend Sun Tan City to friends and I'll most likely continue to use the SMP location myself. Very pleased. read more

I will not go back to this place. Went there last week and was the only one in there after trying to check in through their online process which Did Not work so rushed there in a time limit and another girl came in after me for the same versa tan and they let her go first and she did Not make an online appt. needless to say when i mentioned why i was there 1st but then had to wait when it was free when i got there...a different blonde girl that actually checked me in said they had to look my account up from when i went to the best tan city that was by the cheescake factory off 119th street. So that is why it isn't first come first served? I was livid, and they had no reason for me and the little dark haired girl that wears all black she is RUDE and shes the one that put me 2nd when i should have been 1st. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY HER. I wish i had her name but she works days when I've seen her there. Customers are at her discretion when she's working. Lesson learned by me and I now prefer a new tanning salon. Being a customer since 2003 and treated like that? Bye SunTan City until she is gone. read more

Now I've had enough after exercising a lot of patience with the staff about my concerns with the quality, professionalism and cleanliness of my recent visits since the reopening of the coronavirus quarantine. I want to express how un-impressed I am with the current staff employed here at the Shawnee location. I've discussed my concerns with the salon manager or director, whichever analogy applies, at this location named haley or hailey or however you spell it, not to be rude. I'm not satisfied with services for the dollar amount I pay monthly. I've had issues with beds not being completely sanitized as promised. Some rooms having trash from a previous client left on the floor. I could say more about cleanliness but I don't want to waste anymore time reviewing. Too much gossip happens between the employees and this place is my place to decompress and not a place to hear about marital affairs, boyfriend affairs, having multiple partners, etc. Please stay professional. Sanitizing and cleanliness is much more important, please someone from above correct these deficiencies or get new staff that can do the job here correctly as promised. read more

Love the staff and beds! The girls are so friendly and very knowledgeable about their products.

This is one of my go to tanning places. Prices are pretty competitive, I enjoy the online features.
