Went in today to get a spray tan and I am highly disappointed. If I could give 0 stars I would. I walked in and wasn't greeted, I hadn't even gotten to the desk yet and I was asked "what's your number" with a rude tone so I gave her my number and she asked "same as last time" I asked "is there a rapid tan I could do". I have only been to Sun Tan City one time prior which was months ago so I'm not super familiar with everything and I also don't remember what I got last time. I then asked "did I get a rapid last time?" And she just shook her head and told me my total and only told me to go to room 13. Didn't give me any directions, ask if I needed help or anything just told me to go with no assistance. She ruined my experience and I will not be back. She had an attitude the entire time rolling her eyes with no smile on her face. She is a younger woman and was wearing all black with an "ALO" quarter zip on. Brown hair with freckles and hair in a bun. She kept walking away at the desk so I couldn't even have a conversation with her or even ask for a manager to speak to. I also tried to call the store after the fact and each time it said "you are calling after hours" but it is 12pm on a Saturday, clearly not after hours. I purchased two spray tans extra dark. The first one was great, but only lasted about five days. I went back to get my second tan and the lady told me I was not supposed to be getting that dark of a tan . She said you need a monthly membership to get unlimited tanning and the tan she recommended was the darkest I could get so I paid $29 more and signed up for the monthly tan which was $59 a.k.a. 72 my first day after the spray tan I did not like it so went on their website and canceled and sent a request to cancel my membership because I didn't like it. Keep in mind she said if I didn't like it I could cancel any time. At the end of the month they build me for $72 so I went in and said I had complained and canceled. They told me tough you get build one month whether you cancel or not . I find this practice deceptive and fraudulent. I would not recommend nor did I go back to get my last tan and the lady told me you've paid for the month go ahead and use it. I don't associate myself with thieves and fraudulent people this is my story. You may have a better results . No I would not recommend and to top it off the last tan lasted only three days and yes, I use the primer. They recommended to make it last longer. read more

Got an email that I had a free spray tan so I go in to get it. First the girl tried for like 5 min to convince me to get a membership which I kept saying no to. Then she hands me 3 giant bottles of primer and tells me it'll be $130 and I have no option BUT to buy them. The only other time I've been here was for the $5 spray tan deal earlier in the year and they just gave me a free little packet of primer to use. I made a joke saying I was a broke college student and couldn't afford $130 of spray tan primer I'll never use again- and she eventually talked me down to spending $40 on the face primer and I agreed because I was set on getting a spray tan today lol. She was very nice at the beginning but after declining the membership and talking her down to god forbid one bottle of primer she seemed to lose the customer service a bit. I feel inclined to share the extremely uncomfortable experience I had at this Sun Tan City location earlier today. Upon arriving, I waited in line for about 17 minutes while the associate at the desk checked in four other patrons, which was completely fine, but what happened next was not. I was waiting in line for the instant tanning bed when I noticed the bed lights were on but there were a lot of odd noises and multiple voices coming from the room. I assumed the bed was having maintenance done on it since it sounded like grunting and objects were being moved around. The door was at first slightly open, then it suddenly slammed shut, and after a little while a disheveled man and woman exited the room together. This was surprising, as I thought there was a one-person-per-room policy. The other people in line and I made eye contact and briefly talked about how uncomfortable that just made us, now understanding what those strange noises actually were. To make matters worse, the associate at the desk, Mary, allowed the man to check in again for the same room he just came out of, skipping me and two others in line. After a few minutes, the woman even re-entered the room suddenly to retrieve an item, forcing those of us still waiting in line to look away twice to avoid potentially seeing something inappropriate while the man was using the room and she entered / exited freely. The whole situation felt wildly unprofessional and unsafe, especially in a setting where patrons are vulnerable situations and privacy is paramount. When I finally got to the desk and spoke to Mary, she dismissed my concerns, claiming the couple was "just talking," despite the strange noises we all heard. Feeling uncomfortable and unheard, I left without tanning. I later called customer service and spoke to a very kind representative who confirmed there is a very strict one-person-per-room policy and she took my concerns seriously, which I genuinely appreciated. This experience made me question the safety and enforcement of policies at this location. I truly hope management addresses this situation to ensure a safe and professional environment for all patrons. read more

The staff at this location are not properly trained on Sun Tan City policy and procedures. I came in June and specifically told them I was doing ONE month only of tanning. The girl signed me up and said that was fine. Now I have been charged again $126 for July. I've had to jump through a lot of hoops to cancel my membership I was completely unaware of. I was never told it was a monthly subscription nor that I would have to cancel anything. Their corporate office is of no help either. I hope the staff are re trained in the future and someone else doesn't get scammed. I would stay far away from this location as they clearly don't know what their own policies are. read more

They have many specials and I am tanning for no cost for the next few days. Wow ! for free. They would not take my money at all. the lady said it was a promotion. I like it. yes I have to say the quote from a Yelper, " It is about the free stuff " . Make no mistake, I am not a much-er nor will I ever be. I would rather pay and be fair for the services i receive, but in this case they would not take my money.. OK, so I need a quick base tan, I am dark anyway but you know a little more color does not hurt when going to Miami and KW. I went in the Ultra Bed, yes it was different than the beds I have been in the past. The last beds I was in was long tubes, wow now things are so different. Oh my, that was in 1999. They have many options for all income levels and many lotions to keep your skin dark and moist. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will assist you to your exact needs. I may use them for a few times but I have to say , I am impressed , not only by the technology, but by the friendly service. I came in today and was reminded once again why the staff at the Falls Sun Tan City location is amazing. Management is always patient when reviewing current monthly specials and ensures I understand the differences between any combination of packages between spray and sunbed--for the duration of time that works for me. Each time I come into the salon I'm warmly greeted, usually by name. I am always treated courteously, respectfully, and professionally by all staff--this also includes new team members who may still be undergoing training. The salon almost always has beds with updated bulbs if I want to enjoy a "brighter" sunless experience. I wish I had time each day to visit STC! I recommend Sun Tan City to anyone who is looking for their new tanning home. read more

Before my trip to California last month for a wedding, I wanted to get some "sun." Thankfully, groupon had a great deal, $22 for five different sessions. I was able to go within a week & a half time, trying out each of their beds & one spray tan. The staff there was extremely knowledgeable & friendly. My only issue was, they were so busy, many times I had to wait a bit before getting a bed. For a regular tanner, their prices are reasonable & they do have plenty of beds & bed options (fast, faster, fastest). They are clean & I never worried about sanitation issues. read more

Worst company I've dealt with. They signed me up under a reoccurring monthly membership (even though the girl at front desk told me it was just ONE month!). It was for my daughter, a minor. 6 months later, I find out they have been charging my card every month (with increased rates!!!) even during the Covid 19 pandemic. When I called Client services, the woman was rude and said they could not give me a link to access or even "set up" an account because it was in my daughter's name and since she's a minor, there's nothing they can do...except they have NO PROBLEM charging me and giving me NO invoice, no notification, nothing!!! When I called the Raleigh location where I originally signed her up in March (right before Covid hit), the girl told me there were problems with their system and many never got the email they were resuming memberships. But Client services told me that I should have known since it was on social media. WTF??! And supposedly, she was a supervisor?? DO NOT EVER SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. So I went and asked for a tour and was told I couldn't because of Covid even tho we're opened up . I signed up for a 4 tan deal thinking I had time to use them only to find out when I left that they expired in 14 days . When I got back to the bed I was blinded with Florescent lights above and the room its self must have been at least 80 degrees. The bed was from the 90's and the space where the bulbs where at was filled with nasty hair , pubic hair and dust . The control buttons were almost impossible to use . It was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever laid in and there was no head test provided . One of the least enjoyable experiences at a tanning salon. read more

I've been going here for several months. The girls here are always super helpful and knowledgable, and the wait times are usually minimal if you have to wait at all. Checking in online or with the app really helps decrease the likelihood you'll have to wait, too. This place is always nice and clean. As a side note, the people that have given this place bad reviews complaining about wait times apparently don't understand the concept. If you choose to come at a busy time, you're going to have to wait. No one leaves bad reviews for a good restaurant because they had an hour wait on a Friday night!! read more

I ventured to Sun Tan City to find out about their spray tanning option since I thought that this year, I would try to go the safer route. I am what many call an addict to tanning beds. I do limit myself to the spring/summer prep time, but a girl has to have some color when shorts season comes. First, I have to say that upon entering, the amount of options sort of overwhelmed me. They do have the spray tanning booth, but they also have many levels of tanning beds. The staff were super friendly and immediately took me on a tour and talked about the beds, what the differences were, the pressure, times, etc. The place is much bigger than I thought and they have SO many beds. This is great because they do not take reservations/appointments so you can walk in anytime and almost always expect to get a bed. I opted out of the spray tanning booth because even though the solution is made with all natural products, it is made with walnuts and I have a tree nut allergy. It would have been a really ugly situation had I gone that route. So..... I did opt for the "Faster" level bed. The bed I chose has a/c, a misting button if you choose to have a little refresher during the session, and the max time is 12 minutes. The plus is that this bed reduces the amount of time I will be needing to reach my base tan, therefore, safer than going a ton to a bed that takes forever. Perfect for me, and my schedule. The prices are great if you go with the membership, and if you don't, the prices are comparable to most other tanning salons. I'm glad I found Sun Tan City! read more

My first sunless tanning experience was...Interesting. Mostly it involved a verrrrry long wait (over an hour) with 10 other girls waiting for the one available bed. I feel like the focus of these places should be the sunless tanning experience by now (who uses does UV tanning anymore?), but alas...Nope. The girls up front were very nice and pretty helpful and didn't upsell us too badly. The tanning experience was probably the best part! Nice and easy, with vocal instructions from the machine along with pictures. I didn't see much of a tan at first but the girl assured me it would appear in the morning...And sure did it! I was waaaaaay dark....I would definitely do the lightest tan next time! All in all not a terrible experience, but the wait would definately deter me from coming back anytime soon. read more

I decided to go to this location on a Sunday--the last day of their free spray tan week. Before driving 20 minutes there I checked the website to make sure they would be open. Their website says that they're open until 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays, so I knew I would have plenty of time. However, when I checked Google for the directions, it said they close at 6pm. After seeing this I called the location and their automated messaging system said they close at 7pm. I figured their website and phone number would be a more credible source than Google (it even says on Yelp that they close at 7), so I drove to the location. About 5 minutes before 6pm, I tried to check in on my phone and couldn't figure out how to, so I just walked in. After standing in line for a few minutes, the receptionist told everyone in line that if we hadn't checked in online, we couldn't be helped since they closed at 6. I then tried to explain the false advertisement and my efforts to arrive before closing time and was told that nothing could be done. I'm disappointed and frustrated as I was looking forward to receiving this service and I made sure the location was open before driving 20 minutes just to be told that they were closed. read more

I purchased a tanning plan and then shortly after contracted covid 19. Obviously with this being the case I could not go tan. I called. Corporate to cancel my subscription. First, it took almost a month to speak with someone. Secondly, after they had already taken nearly $200 from my account they td me I couldn't cancel. after much arguing and pushing I did finally get them to let me cancel but they would not refund my money from the time I couldn't tan! I just find that after the year we all went thru on top of actually contracting covid the company would be compassionate to the circumstances. But no I was way wrong. I'll start by saying I really like this place, the quality of the spray tans is good, it's always clean, and the girls who work here are always helpful and nice. The price is great as well. However, I'll never understand the business model. Each time I come (always has to be in the evening because I work during the day) there is a massive wait for sunless tanning. The demand for sunless is so high, yet they only have a couple of sunless machines, but tons of tanning beds that are sitting there unused. I could understand if it was like this temporarily, but it's been like this for over 5-6 years. As a consumer, it's frustrating to have to wait over an hour for a sunless tan, in a packed waiting room. As a business owner, I don't understand why they haven't gotten rid of the beds that are rarely in use and invested in the sunless machines, which is apparently what everyone wants these days. If the wait wasn't so obnoxiously long each time I come here, this place would get 5 stars from me easily. read more
