Received a bill from Sunshine for $500.55 for 34 days from 10/02/25 to 11/05/25. Apparently, there was a leak in the irrigation which was promptly repaired. Prior bill for 28 days, 10/13 to 11/04/25 was $61.80. Due to the next bill's excessive bill amount, I called Customer Service and was told I could pay a portion of it and scheduled an autopay payment on 12/2 for $250 towards the $500.55 bill, leaving a balance of $250.55. I received another letter from Sunshine, dated 12/17/25, threatening to shut the water off if bill was not paid by January 5, 2026. I scheduled another payment of $250 to auto pay 12/30/25. There is no breakdown of the past balance or current amount. It's' confusing. Now I have to waste my time called Sunshine for clarification. No wonder their rating on Yelp is 1.7 The Public Service Commission doesn't help. The Commission always rubber stamps Sunshine's increases. I received an online bill for $507.86 due 01/01/01 They used an incorrect year, not 2026. Now I have to call them clarification. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I keep getting bombarded with these pseudo.official looking claims about Florida's "required" or "recommended" annual water testing. Their marketing make it appear as if they are part of a govt entity, rather than a company looking to sell you a product. Stay away, the send out fliers that mislead you into thinking they are associated with the local water company. THEY ARE NOT! They put on a great presentation but at at the end after they got my financial info it really started to feel like a scam. As soon as i told the guy that came to my house that i had a LOCK on my credit, it seemed to not be as interested and made a quick exit. When his partner called me to try and book a time for a install I told him that was not interested and not to come to my home to install any equipment and not to purchase any equipment in relation to my property. They don't even have a company email, it's just a gmail address and when you try to call the number on the card it rings a then drops the call. read more

Absolutely terrible company, aka "Avian Water". Funny that I came on here to write a review, and am now seeing multiple people experiencing the exact same problem. I purchased their whole house filtration system about 6 years ago and have struggled ever since to get them to come out to service the system (which I was originally under the impression was part of the warranty, then found out it isn't, which makes it all the worse that they won't come service the system because I'll be paying additional for the service). The first time I actually had a technician call me to set up an appointment, I told him the issue over the phone and he said it sounds like I will have to replace the entire system. He said he would get some pricing and get back in touch with me. He did not. I called the company again and when describing the issue to the gentleman who answered the phone, his instant response was that the system needed to be serviced and flushed, not replaced. I have been unable to get anyone to call me back after multiple voicemails since. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO USE. read more

We purchased a home in Orlando with an Iron Boss iron removal unit and Westinghouse water softener that had been installed by Sun State Water. In January 2019 we noticed an alarm up on the Iron Boss unit, and the operating instructions that come with the unit do not tell you how to determine the problem (only how to set the clock). We contacted Sun State Water and asked for a service call, and a copy of the manual section that provides details on how to determine the problem, and set regen times etc. A technician contacted us and stated he would be in my area next week and would call us; he never showed up or called. I tried several times to contact both Sun State Water and The LeverEdge (they make the equipment and contract to Sun State for installation and maintenance as I understand it). I was never contacted by Sun State. LeveEdge customer support contacted and said I had to call Sun State, that they could not help me. Sun State gave me the number for Phil Crawford (supervisor) and Terry Whittemore (who it turns out is the business owner). However the number associated with the business owner (Terry) is really their salesman, William. I eventually reached someone at Sun State (William, Sales); he apologized for not responding and said he would get the information to his supervisor, Phil, so that a service call could be set up. Two weeks went by and I received no call back from Phil. I called Phil on Friday 4/19 and finally reached him. He indicated he new nothing about our problem, and that the service tech would be in today and he would have them call me; the service tech never called. At that point I filed a BBB complaint (BBB CASE#: 90231954). I received a call from the technician about two days after I filed the complaint, and scheduled a service call for Monday 4/29/2019 between 11-2; Sun Water attempted to close the complaint against the scheduled call. The technician did not show up. I called the technician and he stated he had an emergency call and was not going to be able to come. I asked why he or Phil did not call me so I could return to work; no answer. As of today (4/30/2019), Sun State Water has again tried to close the BBB complaint to a scheduled service call. They will not provide a copy of the service manual because they claim its there policy (don't want anyone by a qualified Westinghouse tech doing anything with the system). I had this company come out per a card in the mail to test my water. I liked what Mike had to say and even though the money angle didn't sound right I agreed to buy and they sent out an installer in late December. The man was incompetent and after 7 hours he finished or I thought he had. Anyone who has to make 2 trips to Home Depot and has to read the install instruction manual does not know what they are doing which proved to be the case as I found out later. I was told he had 4 months training and that he was fired right before Christmas. When this installer replaced the old water softener situated outside the house he dumped the salt brine onto my lawn, I was out there helping him pick up the salt crystals but the brine killed the grass. When I saw the damage to the lawn in the daylight I called the company and told them to come out and remove their water system, I was done with them. When the person came out to take out the system we both found out that the whole house water system had never even been connected at all... Thank God I didn't pay these people a dime because I would never see my money again. It is now mid February and I have left emails and called Phi, the so called owner but they still have not come out to fix the damaged lawn. These people talk a good game but don't fall for Phil's wounded warrior war story and religious, I'll pray for you line...such a fake. If you need a water system or water softener look elsewhere. read more

Avoid this crooked company at all costs! I was their sales manager. They got pissed at me because I wouldn't unethically put a system into a customer's house without disclosing that the financing terms would be different than she was told due to her credit score stating, "we don't have to tell her the financing changed, we can just put it in". After I refused they quit giving me leads and then topped that off by stealing my entire paycheck from me saying "oh that money went to the company since we had to go get additional paperwork signed". They stole $1500 in all. They are very shady and their systems have a lot of problems which they'll say their warranty doesn't cover. They also tried to get me to stop giving people a reverse osmosis with their system because they didn't want to pay the extra money for install. I told them I would not do this and that I wouldn't sell my mother one without an RO to which they replied "me either" but still pressured me to not give the customer the complete system offering me more money to scam people. If you want a good system from a great honest company call me. AND NO CHASE I WAS NEVER FIRED. Not once. I was simply lied to over and over and told that we didn't have leads for weeks. I never didn't perform my job. I was your best rep with the highest closing percentage. I left the first time because you shorted my check by $500 dollars and had no excuse. Everything I wrote in this review is 100 percent true and have all your texts to prove it buddy. They run through a finance company so you're left paying the finance company every month. After they get paid, they don't bother servicing the system (which is necessary every 6 months). My experience with Sun State was mixed in the beginning. The sales rep was knowledgeable and professional and install was scheduled quickly. The installer was friendly but did not arrive with enough hose for connecting the purification system to the refrigerator, though that was a key part of my installation. The installer also brought a different size unit that the one I had requested.The installer installed the outside equipment in a different place than we had agreed.The installer spliced the electrical wire with electrical tape that was left exposed to the elements. When the installer returned to connect the refrigerator, he began to install the connecting hose in the toe kick area at the front of cabinets and in front of the stove and whinged when I asked it to be placed at the back of the cabinets and behind the stove as outlined by the sales rep. When my unit overflowed with water and I called for service, the original installer came at night. I had to hook up a flashlight for him to see to work. He told me the unit needed to be drained, but instead he dumped the salt water on my grass, leaving a big dead patch in my front yard and distressing my 20' Queen palm. When I called the office about the grass and palm, I was assured the company was assured and would take care of all my concerns. The installer came and rerouted the unit drain line, but did not bury the hose along side the house. He took pictures of the damage to the tree and lawn, but did nothing to have the sod replaced or a tree expert to evaluate the tree. On another occasion the installer trimmed the dead fronds from the palm and repaired the electrical line. Now, however, even after a Better Business Bureau complaint, a detailed letter to the company representative, repeated calls to the office, repeated palm pictures and repeated assurances that the company would take care of the lawn damage, palm damage and finish burying the hose next to the house, none of the those items have been done. I cannot recommend Sun State Water, Inc. While friendly, the company does not follow through and shortcuts are taken. read more
