He took extra time to explain how to use the equipment he delivered and picked up at my house several times and showed a genuine interest in my home project, which I appreciated very much. Rented a power rake which failed after 45 minutes of use, about 1/2 of what I needed to accomplish, now basically out of time due to monkeying around with the thing, took the machine back and Ryan suggested I take another one, since I'm out of time I declined, I was still charged for the "minimum", they should have done the right thing and charged me half to keep a customer but they didn't. I spent a little over $200,000 in tool and equipment rental last year with my company, not sure how much was with Sun Rentals, but I do know how much I will spend over the next three years with them. read more

I have used them for rentals for years but never again. They don't know what they are doing, clearly don't want to be helpful, and don't listen. The supervisor (owner?) is rude, lazy, and stupid. They don't deserve any stars but the system won't let me give them zero stars. Imagine a company that does not like their customers, and you know what sun rental is all about. I had planned on renting a stump grinder, a trencher, a rototiller, a floor sander, and a power rake from them for projects this summer. Now I will rent nothing from them. I told my neighbor about my experience and he said he had never heard anything good about them and avoids them. You should too. read more

We rented a jackhammer from Sun Rental Centers last weekend. (They are located behind the S. Hill Target). It was a really pleasant experience (as much as jackhammering a bunch of concrete can be). They had just what we needed, aka a jackhammer for a reasonable rental price (about $60 a day). We rented the jackhammer with the *hope* that our project would only take one day, but the knowledge that it might take two. Sun Rental Center allowed us to rent with flexibility of knowing we might bring it back within 24 hours, or keep it for the full 48 hours, and charge accordingly. Thankfully our project only required one day of rental, but it was nice to have the flexibility over the weekend to have kept it for two days if necessary. The drop off process was really smooth. The staff person was prompt at coming outside and I ended up feeling really positive about this whole DIY endeavor. We'll rent from them again! Maybe this time a branch chipper or something less headache inducing! read more

Be very careful! These people charged me for a damage waiver (that I didn't ask for). The machine I rented spontaneously burst a hydraulic line while I was gently digging a lilac bush out of the ground. The very stout bracket that was at fault was severely bent, and it would have been impossible for me to cause that kind of damage doing the kind of work I was doing (digging shallow holes). They charged me for the repair! I insisted that I did not cause this damage; I insisted that the damaged hydraulic bracket must have been damaged prior to my use. I also reminded them that they had already charged me for a damage waiver. They said that my waiver did not apply to this type of damage! I asked them just what the waiver was for...and I did not receive a clear answer. Also, I was charged for a full day of use even though I only managed to use it for about 4.5 hours before it failed. By the way, this was the very same machine that I rented last Fall to dig a very simple drainage trench. It blew a hydraulic hose then also but their mechanic repaired it and acknowledged that it was a worn hose. (I was charged a full day then even though it failed just after a few hours of use.) YES, I should have known better then to rent it again! I suspect that this machine has been heavily used but it has received inadequate maintenance. I have been a regular customer of theirs for over thirty years, but I will never do business with them again. Does anyone know of a reputable equipment rental service in town? read more

I would rate this a no star if I could! We renting a ditch digger/ditch witch what ever you want to call it. We used it for the day got our job almost done had 20 ft of ditch left to do and it broke. The motor ran out of oil and they had disabled the low oil pressure sensor so the motor. We had to some how raise the boom and get it back on the trailer. This was the largest ditch witch they had so it wasn't easy. They wouldn't offer any help. So we hadn't finish our job so it doesn't matter how close we got it wasn't done. There was no water out to the barn! So we had to go rent another one to finish it and Sun rental would not at least only charge us for a half a day. they charged us for the full time even though we didn't get to finish which is a problem! So because their equipment is shotty I have to pay twice! read more
