Reason being I'm frequently at MJT and there are times in which I feel like some char siu, sesame balls, dumplings or that asian ingredient to compliment my dish and I won't have to go all the way to Marche Hawaii or Chinatown. Prices here are your typical asian market. I appreciate that they don't try to hose their own people with expensive overpricing. They have a butcher and meat and fresh seafood section in the back and also quite odd, but not unusual their own jewellery shop as a stand alone enclosed kiosk in the store. It was closed on the day I was there. Picked up some of my regular chicken cabbage dumplings but I shall be back to try some of their other goods and items.

Great spot for Asian noodles and sauces too, which is much appreciated at all times and especially come soup-making season. Staff don't speak English and the French is heavily accented. And they are always serious and fast paced; they get the job done and move folks through so quickly that though it's always full it never feels crowded and you never really stand in line. Before you know it you are armed with tasty goodness with (for me) illegible labels and back out in the sunshine.

I'm not really reviewing the market's concept with looks pretty cool. Fresh pastas by weight and a fairly large selection of Italian specialties, perhaps I may have a better taste in my mouth after trying those items. In a crusty shell, I got their vegetarian pizza to go (personal size - which is actually a fair size and comes with a decent price tag $8 or 9 +T). Apart from having to wait a bit longer than you would expect for a fresh pizza it came out hot and looked pretty good. Even the first couple of bites seemed to be alright and even somewhat tasty, but then bite after bite it got worse and worse. There was an odd something going on with their dough and/or sauce and/or cheese and/or vegetable situation/combination, that made me feel a little yucky after eating it. I'm not a big fan of that happening and who would be. You should never feel yucky after eating a pizza. Even after eating a whole small. You may feel stuffed, but be happily full; satisfied and even proud you ate it all up. So, when I saw the high star rating I was a bit surprised, and by chance I saw another 1* review that concurred with my experience, so I don't feel like I'm the only one who had this feeling and experience. Note: Their system for where to go, stand and order where not very clear, so that could also use some work. The shop has a bit of a complicated layout which doesn't help matters. Maybe they've worked on that over the last several weeks/months, and if not they probably should to make it as safe and efficient as possible. I think that's fair to hope for...

Luckily, a booth opened up within a few minutes for us which helped as we were going to try a bunch of dishes. Pad kaprao pork - simply put, awesome! One of my go to dishes when having Thai food back home or online BKK. Only complaint was that I wish the egg was served sunny side up instead fried to a well done. Pad pak boong pork - another awesome dish! Not sure how you can go wrong with crispy pork belly w/ perfectly sautéed morning glory. We did order this mild and it was still pretty spicy for me. Not sure why the rice served in Montreal is so wet. IIRC, the white rice at Pichai was also pretty wet. Ended up wasting almost the entire plate as it was so mushy. Gaeng massaman gai - the one dish that was just ok in my opinion which is odd since I usually love red curry. Not sure what was lacking but something was a bit off. Since the pad pak boong came with a huge plate of rice, asked the waitress to not bring another serving. Pad thai - pretty tasty and noticed almost all patrons ordering this dish. Wished I could've subbed the shrimp for chicken. Quebec lobster - this was one of the main reasons for dining here as I kept seeing IG posts about this. Sadly, this was a disappointing dish. The lobster really didn't have any meat and thought it was weird they served it with what tasted like salsa verde. Khao neeo mamuang - great way to end the meal. Perfectly cooked glutinous rice w/ an ample amount of coconut milk. Was surprised at how sweet the mango was. Almost as good as Mae Varee in BKK!! Would definitely come back the next time we are in town for the GP!
