Prices are slightly higher than the bigger Korean supermarkets (like Galleria or HMart in Toronto), but comparable to other Japanese supermarkets that I've been to. The stores are clean and well lit. Established in 1954, two brothers introduced Montreal to Italian products. Today their children have taken over and it seems to be a very popular neighborhood market based on the number of customers shopping during our visit. Bakery, deli, meat counter, dairy, produce. All the sections you expect in a traditional grocery store. The breakfast sweets. The Chocolate. Whole rabbit in the meat counter. So much pasta! Oil, balsamic, sauce. I just need to go back. A fresh wasabi plant will run you $25 (totally worth it tbh) I'd check it out if you're into japanese cooking or just love japanese snacks in general! You can find lots of imported snacks, chips, candies, beverages, cereals and household supplies like cleaning products, detergents, body care, soaps, lotions and the like - all from France for the most part. These are the type of items that are very hard to find elsewhere and normally not sold at your regular grocery store. With the large community of French ex-pats and other European migrants in Quebec, Top Discount offers a little taste from home. I stocked up on a few body washes from brands like Dop or Cottage (not sold in Canada normally), made in France Lays chips, Haribo gummy candy and special bbq sauces. The prices are very affordable and the products are unique and fun. I am not from Europe but appreciate the variety and being introduced to new brands. Note that Top Discount has a partnership with Carrefour which is one of the largest grocery chains in Europe so they also sell many Carrefour house branded items at very cheap prices. The store is an Asian specialty grocery store and they have a fairly large free parking lot. The prices seemed to be fair and comparable to C&T and LianTai (at least for the items that interested me). I don't drive to this area a lot but if I am in the area, I would have no issues going to Kim Phat for some specialty Asian grocery store items and snacks. Because of the convenience of parking, I prefer Lian Tai, then probably Kim Phat, and then C&T (C&T's parking is often full because it shares a large parking area in a parking mall). Since I didn't eat breakfast or lunch before bringing my mom here, I was famished and purchased a banh mi (Vietnamese baguette sandwich) which was premade and also purchased a drink which was on special.
