It's in the Faubourg.

This is a newish grocery store that opened up in The Faubourg. It's fairly large and is an international grocery store with lots of imported goods from all over the world. The majority of their items are from Asia, but they have products from other continents as well. I spotted lots of imported drinks like apple and peach Fanta from Japan, so many flavours of Jarritos from Mexico, and Oatmeal Smoothies from Bolivia to name a few. They had candies from Poland, rice cakes from Greece, and cookies from The Philippines. I didn't see any exotic KitKats, but they had exotic Lays Potato Chip flavours like cucumber. The store is brightly lit and the aisles are wide. I didn't buy anything as I was only in town for the weekend, travelling by train with the tiniest of luggage, but I really enjoyed poking around the store. I'm hoping this store and other new businesses at The Faubourg will revitalize it, because for a while The Faubourg was really sad. It has not returned to its former glory, but there is definitely some more life to it now ;)

I've been waiting for Marché Newton to open since this summer. It's an Asian grocery (mostly Chinese) located inside Faubourg Ste-Catherine (second floor), which has been slowly but surely rebuild on the inside. The Newton grocery store is brand new, very big and very clean. They're still finishing to place all the products, but it's 95% ready! Prices are competitive, products are varied and service is fast (they have two in-building entrances, both with cashiers). There's less choices available than at Marché Fu Tai at Plaza Côtes-des-Neiges, but it's not far behind. A great alternative (if not replacement) to Chinatown groceries that all the thriving Asian communities around Concordia will enjoy.

Won't return after my cashier was dripping sweat and touching her face, over a counter that was smudged with dirt.

I have no idea what the rule is about bringing packaged foods back to the U.S., but I wanted to buy so much stuff I used to keep in my Italian pantry! Next visit to Montreal we plan to stay in the Little Italy area and shop here on day one. Even if we have to eat it all before we leave town. We literally stumbled upon this grocery store. Established in 1954, two brothers introduced Montreal to Italian products. Today their children have taken over and it seems to be a very popular neighborhood market based on the number of customers shopping during our visit. Bakery, deli, meat counter, dairy, produce. All the sections you expect in a traditional grocery store. The breakfast sweets. The Chocolate. Whole rabbit in the meat counter. So much pasta! Oil, balsamic, sauce. I just need to go back. If you cook Italian, you should be shopping here. Actually, if you eat, you should shop here.

The variety of brand names of imported Italian tomatoes, pasta and cheeses is staggering. Needless to say Milano's will always be on my list of stops when I'm in Montréal.

Was in the mood to visit this Asian grocery store…read more First off there is tons of free parking and public transit is just outside. Thé place itself was packed and needs a bit of tender loving care. Saying that the store produce was nothing more than top notch. You can find all your traditional Asian produce along with more non Asian produce. I went there for the duck and was lucky enough to pick some up. This was probably the best duck I have ever eaten. So moist and full of flavors. I should of gotten two. I also wanted to try some bbq pork but they were sold out. There was so much to choses from and all looked amazing and super fresh Went there for the duck and pork.

Damn those ducks are insanely difficult to find these days !!! What is happening?? Why arent there ducks?? who ate them all?? Lolol Nonetheless... they had a guy cutting up the last few ducks he had left for the day and he was super friendly he even picked out the best one for us. The place is cool they have lots of asian varieties of pastries, raw meats, fish and all kinds of live fish you can choose to cook fresh from the sea lol The fruits and veggie section is quite extensive as well lots of unique items at this place ! The pantry aisles are filled with products you will never find at a regular grocery chain store Overall, I think this place is by far the best in the city and there's no insane chaotic line ups Pricing: super affordable and good sales ! Definitely recommend

Top Discount is a small speciality French/European grocery store that offers mostly shelf stable foods and specialty products for the home. You can find lots of imported snacks, chips, candies, beverages, cereals and household supplies like cleaning products, detergents, body care, soaps, lotions and the like - all from France for the most part. These are the type of items that are very hard to find elsewhere and normally not sold at your regular grocery store. With the large community of French ex-pats and other European migrants in Quebec, Top Discount offers a little taste from home. I stocked up on a few body washes from brands like Dop or Cottage (not sold in Canada normally), made in France Lays chips, Haribo gummy candy and special bbq sauces. The prices are very affordable and the products are unique and fun. I am not from Europe but appreciate the variety and being introduced to new brands. Note that Top Discount has a partnership with Carrefour which is one of the largest grocery chains in Europe so they also sell many Carrefour house branded items at very cheap prices. This Laval location has the best selection, I went on opening day and compared to another Top Discount store I went to in Brossard, this new location is bigger and better. Highly recommend checking out! There's something for everyone.
