This hardware store is under new ownership and management and has done a 180 degree turn towards improvement. The owners and friendly and knowledgeable and are always ready to help you find whatever you need. When was the last time that happened in a big box hardware store? I've never left empty handed or feeling like I cannot find a friendly face to help. It's a real gem on the beach. read more

I heard rumors that there were new owners at sun hardware, so I decided to go back in. it was a breath of fresh air to be welcomed by smiles and a voice saying can I help you with anything? They are working on a cleaner, organized store adding beach items and souvenirs as well as a a better inventory of hardware. So everyone head back in and support the new owners! I'm glad I went in! The men who run this place are unhelpful jerks. They have ZERO customer service skills and appear to annoyed by the very presence of someone in their store. On top of that, they have very little inventory so, save your time and make the drive to the other hardware store on the island or Lowe's.. read more

I've found the staff very helpful, the selection extensive for such a small store, and the location very convenient. I am happy to support them so I don't have to drive twenty minutes or more just to get a nut or bolt or package of glue or pool test kit. Buy local! read more

We had one of the most unpleasant experiences at Sun Hardware in Santini Plaza. A friend and I entered the store to a screaming, swearing store owner. The owner was cursing at a customer and was using very offensive language. The owner ended by telling the gentleman to "get the fuck out of my store and go back to Germany." The gentleman calmly replied that he was Dutch and that he paid taxes on the Beach. The owner's response was "get the Hell out of my store and go back to wherever you came from." I had the item that I intended to purchase. I told the owner that after his tirade, I would not be returning to the store. The owner grabbed the item and said that I could not make a purchase. My friend, who had said nothing, wanted to buy the item, but was told that since she was with me, she could not buy anything. He proceeded to tell us to get the hell out. I have owned on the Beach since 1980. I have never been treated in such a despicable manner. We puposesly support businesses on the island. We ended up going off the island to make our purchase. We will go to the other hardware store on the island or go off the island to make our purchases. We will purposely not patronize Sun Hardware, which is part of the Do-It-Best Hardware Cooperative. read more

Worse experience ever! Went in for a few parts, owner was very rude at the first ?? Of did he carry the part! Continued to be rude after every ? Asked about his products! Which he knew no answers to our ??? So then when asked why the product which we were about to purchase and was in our hands was 3 times as expense then a lowes or walmart 10 miles from his store, he snatches the products out of our hands and told us we could go elsewhere, in a very loud voice and calling attention from about 5 other people in this very small store! I told him exactly how rude he was and quickly exited the store! Would rather sit in traffic 3 hours to go to lowes and pay a 3rd of the price anyday then to spend any $$$ in this extremely rude establishment! People beware this place is a rip off and the people that run it are the lowest of the low for the way they treat local people whom live here year round! Will never ever go back! And hope karma bites them in the butt for treating people like this! Never have I been treated so awful! read more
