I immediately pull up Vennesse Spa to bookmark on Yelp, and literally almost choke and die on the hardest gasp I've ever gasped! Honest thoughts: Holy Crap! A 1.5 rating (at the time)??? OH NO -- they must be giving people nail funguses and burying them in the back! That's NOT the place for me! (I literally said this to the girl who recommended it, and she (a stranger) said, "Trust me and ask for Vivian!" Well, in the spirit of "fool me once..." I called ahead and set up an appointment with Vivian, who just-so happened to answer the phone, and prayed for the best! I walked in bracing myself and left skipping with glee! Vivian was a sweetheart from start to finish, she took great care of me, offered me a drink, she's quiet and focused while she works (I like that), slayed my nails (I love her paint and file job), and helped me sign up for Perka Points (their loyalty app to earn points for $ off of a future visit)! Thankfully, my first visit to Vennesse was a WIN! Onto visit #2: I've been traveling, so a lot of time has passed since my first visit to Vennesse. I called back for Vivian and was told that she's on vacation until next week. (God why?) At this point, my nails are horrendous and I can't wait another day. Although I did remember the 1.5 Yelp rating that totally freaked me out before my first visit, I trusted God to have my back (he always does) and asked the "nice girl" (Kathy) who answered the phone to book me. Shortly after starting my service, Kathy shared that she's Vivian's younger sister. I felt better immediately and rightfully so as Kathy's great also! She's very focused and quiet while working (similar to Vivian but almost OCD and I love it)! This point is important to mention as during both visits, I noticed that the staff here is quite chatty amongst themselves. This doesn't bother me at all, but I do prefer that MY service renderer not be distracted while wielding the drill. Kathy (like Vivian) was definitely locked in, but also had the perfect balance of conversation and local food suggestions to throw out-- got a few new bookmarks off of her today! Well yet again, Vennesse didn't fail me. I'm reporting back to say that it wasn't a fluke-- I'm 2 for 2 and I like it!

I love their organization of colors, they are grouped by color vs just being thrown all together. They also have special books for the SNS that matches Gel for the full mani/pedi experience. There was a little bit of a wait when I stopped in on Saturday morning, but I didn't mind. You can call ahead and make an appointment (can't do that at my usual place either) if you are wanting to get in and out. The girl that was working with me today was fast but paid close attention to making sure she filed my nails to match each other with length and shape which I can really appreciate. Used to be The Porehouse but after ownership changes, Ms. Leah continued her buisness under a new name, Leah's Place. Nestled right next door to Bake My Day and easy to find! Ms. Leah is a very warm hearted and professional person. She is always smiling and we pick up conversations easily from where we left off before. Makes you feel right at home and comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. I have had to reschedule due to buisness and she worked with my schedule with no problems! Now, the services I recieve are sensitive in nature. Ya know.... think of Brazil (get me here Ladies?). Sometimes with these services you take a gamble when you go somewhere you're not sure about. Being new in the area and reading hit-or-miss reviews for this type of service, I took a gamble. Soooo happy I did! Leah makes sure you are comfortable and does a fast, clean, and accurate job. I have been recieving these type of services for over 10 years and Leah is crazy quick, but thorough! I can be done completly within 30 minutes. Also, I have read dissapointing reviews of other salons in the area where cleanliness is a problem. Not at Leah's Place! Gloves are worn, a new dip stick is used with EACH application, clean "bed" to lay on. Leah takes care to maintain cleanliness. Look at her health inspection.....100% ! That's great when you're dealing with wax. No double dipping here!!! Services are priced competitively and not too expensive. I am happy with the services I pay for and the amount for which I pay. Laurie, Mr. Sam's daughter, is wonderful! She is a psychotherapist and beautician wrapped up in a wonderful package! She is a great hairdresser and keeps up with style. We hit it off right away, she had such a kind heart and amazing attitude. She made me feel comfortable and not judged in any way! She is set up in a cute little shop so it's nice and private. I was amazed at the thoroughness she took to ensure I had the perfect tan and the quality of her products. She also had everything you need if you forgot including pasties, thongs, and even a hair clip to use! The tan was a more than fair price (plus she deserved it) so I tipped her a little extra. I was incredibly impressed by the safety precautions this location took with COVID. We did wait a little while before we were serviced but that is to be expected on a Saturday afternoon. Our manicurists was very kind, patient, informative & she didn't hurt our cuticles! The prices are about standard with surrounding nail salons. The salon is very clean & organized so definitely no complaints there. I do not get my nails done often but when I do, this will definitely be the location I return to.
