Sun Country Golf Course - Golf Near Me - Cle Elum, Washington

Is this a public golf course or North Korea? We had 12 guys there for my bachelor party and when we go to check in the first thing they ask us if we brought our own beers. No hi, no welcome, no how you doing. Just a shakedown right off the bat. As if that wasn't bad enough the ranger followed each of our groups for three consecutive holes. THREE OF THEM. And we were even playing a scramble, averaging 10 minutes a hole. If you're looking for an average golf course with $100 green fees and a Marshall who gets bored at his job so he just harasses the golfers then look no further. Do yourself a favor and go to prospector. It's only $50 more and is 100 times better. Sun country, more like bum country. read more

Where to start... The folks at the county were very nice. That's where the nice ends. The course was a disaster. The first hole fairway was nothing but hard pan with dead grass and had a temporary green, not a good start! But wait... it gets worse! The rest of the holes are the same. You get 50+ yards of roll... and most times it's into a hazard of some kind. The greens, I have to say were nice and green, won't hold a shot. As for the tee boxes not quite as good. They have been watered but are still hard, but playable. As for the carts, they were fairly new gas carts, but at $21 per seat! the courses are going overboard with this rate... Be ware of the hidden (but notified at the front desk) charges... bank card charge, state tax, county tax can run you close to $25 per seat. So if your a twosome your almost paying for another person. Ohhh... for the good old days, when it was $10 a seat! And we thought that was a ripoff... read more

I had to download this app as I felt this compelled to write about this joke of an establishment. Never felt the need to write a review before. Ive never been to a course where the employees (front desk, marshalls) genuinely seem like they dont want you there. booked a 9 hole tee time and was literally followed by the marshall for three holes then he came back later to accuse us of driving on the green when we stuck to cart path. Everyone seemed combative and accusational about anything they could think of. on top of ALL of this, it is a largely poorly taken care of course with bad cart paths, for a grand total of $70 for 9 holes. a joke. Might as well go to suncadia if you want the stuck up snobby locals, but have a better course, nicer people. read more

If you want to be followed around by bored and obnoxious Marshal's for an entire 18 holes then this is the golf course for you!!! The marshal even followed us to the parking lot and apologized for "harassing" us the entire time. Then said "but someone's gotta do it! And that's what I signed up for!" Would not recommend. Came here with a group of 6 (two groups of 3). This golf course doesn't look that fancy starting on the first hole. But after, I thoroughly enjoyed this course and the course was difficult compared to others around the area. I would golf here again. There is a Marshall that drives around to keep the pace of play up which is nice. There is a cart girl, however she didn't come to us one time the entire 18. Would recommend to a friend. read more

Very disappointed! My group of 7 bachelorettes had back-to-back tee times for 9 holes. Knowing we were a larger group and also knowing the standard rules of 4ppl/tee time, we confirmed with the front attendant that we could stay together as there was no one booked directly or even closely after us. No one said anything against it. After the first hole, and only playing 'best shot', knowing we are not professionals, they said we had to separate our group and treated us like we were doing something wrong. We were constantly followed or met by attendant, Dale, at EACH hole. He made continuous sexist, trans and homophobic jokes that made everyone uncomfortable. He also wasted our tee time by hitting for himself to "get us (him) on the green". We played quickly, keeping a 10min timer at each hole, picked up our balls, had everyone stay in the golf cart until it was their turn, and kept a respectful volume to all those on the course and the few that were still living there. We asked what the issue was, but only got excuses and attitude, "I'm just directing you back to the damn clubhouse". All we wanted to do was enjoy our time in our group of girls... without Dale policing us for no reason. Everyone playing seemed excited that a group of women were there and were encouraging to us, even when we did swing and miss. After spending $700 for our group, I wish this could have been a positive experience, but it was weird and uncomfortable. NONE of us will be back. read more

We have stayed at the RV park and played the golf course with friends several times and we very much enjoyed our stay and playing the golf course, would highly recommend it. The golf course is always in great shape, even after a winter of snow. read more

Marshall takes our cooler on the first tee (which I understand) if they're going to have a cart girl going by all day. I ask him if there is going to be a cart girl and he said yes, all day. She comes by one time in 18 holes for a tournament with 15 groups. And we never saw her till the 11th hole. read more

Beautiful course, maintained very well, some of the best elevated tee boxes with mountain views you'll find in WA.

It was such a fun and relaxed golf course. Went there with my family of 5, and we had a great time!

We called and asked if we could arrive a night early, no problem she said. The next morning before 8am, we had 2 calls asking us to come pay. Really?!? Before 8am? Can we at least wake up, then come over. The next morning we were awoke at 5:45am to mowing the putting green. Followed by leaf blowers right next to our RV at 6am, I was livid. No respect or courtesy for those sleeping. I walked over and asked why? I was told her boss "Jamie" makes her, but she didn't agree either. She said it's "the price you pay to be on a golf course" Really?? That's how you treat your paying customers? It's crazy, there's no other time to mow or blow right?? So this is how they feel about customer service here. Be warned - you'll get no sleep or good customer service, but golf is decent. read more

Interesting review to write. Thought I'd throw it up here to help anybody deciding to come over and play... Currently mid single digit handicap to put this into better context. Conditions were great, staff was very friendly. If you are an a accomplished golfer, this layout with make you cringe. *think sub 400 yard par 5 where you're hitting pitching wedge off the tee...more then once lol. Guess that's the best way to put it. Circus layout with nice people and good conditions. $75 for the round and cart seemed excessive too. read more

My wife and I golfed this course for the first time yesterday and it became one of my favorite courses - mainly because it's not boring! There are hills, valleys, dogs left and right, water and sand. We walked, but next time I'll rent a cart since climbing those hills is tiring. read more

We had a group of 10 camp and golf here and it was one of the worst experiences I've had. We got to the camp ground and got all set up. Went to pay for camping and golf for Friday and were immediately treated like we didn't belong there, very rude individual checking in and being eyed by individuals in the pro shop. Played 18 that afternoon and everything the rest of that night was fine. Next day was even worse. We tee'd off and right from the get go the marshal was on us like he had it out for us, 1st group he was asking our friends to search coolers and bags, 2nd group (my group) he tailed us, at one point telling us how the group in front of us was a group of slow grumpy old men (not knowing it was my dad and a buddy I was grouped with dad) and they had a slow group in front of them. Our 3rd and final group informed us that when he would leave the first 2 groups he would harass them. Let's just say it was the worst golf experience I have EVER had in my entire life. After golf it got worst, we got back to the 4 camp spots in a row and cooked dinner and set the TV up for streaming the game. About 10-10:30 pm the game was just about over and all of a sudden a sheriff comes walking up, kinda caught us by surprise, started to inform us that someone had call us in for being to load but when he showed up he was sitting in his rig for a few minutes listening and didn't believe that we were being load at all and that someone is wasting his time. I will NEVER be back to this place again nor will I recommend it to anyone! read more

I would choose Sun Country over Suncadia any day. Great 18 hole course, amazing views and at a decent price. The last time we played here, we paid $200 for three of us for the 18, two carts and one golf club rental. Good deal for how much we got. The course is a bit hilly, and can get very windy on the 10 hole. Adds to the game though! We've never ever had a problem with the customer service; they've always treated us with respect and have always greeted us walking in the door. Sun Country does have RV space available to stay at and came make for a great getaway if you need one! Overall, this is a great small town course at a great price! read more

This review is for the RV park only as we didn't golf. We wanted to stay in the area and the only other RV park was sold out so we selected this one even though we don't golf. When I called the woman on the phone was extremely rude. I asked for details on the RV site. My question was "what is that site like?" Her reply was (with tons of sarcasm) "well, just like the rest of them. What's your credit card number" Jeez. We have been RV'ing for sometime now and I have never been spoken to like that when asking about details on an RV site. Unfortunately the service was no better when we arrived. We stood at the desk in an empty lobby looking at the woman at the counter waiting for her to acknowledge us for several minutes. Never even looked up at us. So rude. She absolutely knew we were there. We were less than 2 feet away from her. Our interactions with the people who work here we're never pleasant for the exception of the sweet young girl who drove drinks out to the course. We waved and smiled. Everyone else had some serious attitude. As far as the RV goes, it's 50 amp with water and sewer which was nice. Very long sites that are all back in. All the hook ups are in the back. There are picnic tables but no fire rings. There is nothing to do here if you don't golf, which is fine. No playground etc. have the kids bring their bikes because kids ride around in the parking lot. read more

We stayed in the RV park on a Th night, as the mid-way point between Seattle and The Gorge. Arrived late at night, as rookie RV drivers we struggled to back this seemingly huge vehicle into our reserved spot -- and then wimped out and decided to pull into a different spot. Woke up in the morning and were delighted at the locale -- well manicured property, roomy RV sites, gorgeous clean & free showers, nice hook-ups. Staff was friendly. We don't golf, but the other RV'ers raved about the golf course. read more

My wife and I and son played here yesterday. We came out from Seattle. We have played a lot of courses in W. Washington including the peninsula, and we consider Sun Country in our top 5 courses. It doesn't look like much from the first hole, and a couple holes at the end are uninspired, but this is such a pretty, fun and challenging course. It is definitely not long, but there are a lot of fun shots here and, somehow, they keep the course in excellent shape. The people are friendly and it is never crowded. This little gem is definitely worth a drive. We played one of the swanky, expensive Suncadia courses today which lacked the friendly people, the value and the uniqueness of Sun Country. We rated Suncadia a big OK by comparison. read more

The major problem with the course is slow play. The fact that we had five somes ahead of us and behind us complicated the play. There was no marshall to help the situation. They also have a limited amount of golf carts and it is a very steep course..They do not allow none players on course. The most disappointing part of the whole day was the rudeness of the lady at the front counter. Its to bad when a lot of effort goes into maintaining a course and the customer service,which should be the easiest, falls short. We had two foursomes and we are pretty laid back people, but 5 and a half hours to play a short course takes a little luster out of the game. read more

My wife and I have stayed in our motor home there for several days during the summers of the last two years. We played golf and really liked the beautiful and challenging course. The RV facilities are good and well-managed in a nice setting. They have a club house planned for the future. That will make this an even better resort. read more
