***BEWARE** On 1/24/25, we paid Sun Cap Auto Tint of Houston thousands of dollars to install XPEL PPF on our new 2024 Ford F-350 King Ranch. They claimed to be an authorized XPEL installer. By 2/5/25, the film was already lifting. I contacted the business with photos and followed up multiple times. The owner acknowledged poor installation and delays began. We tried for months to schedule repairs. After repeated reschedules, the truck was finally dropped off on 7/10/25 and picked up on 8/2/25. At pickup, the owner admitted he used SunTek film, not XPEL, and claimed to be an authorized SunTek installer. The next day, our Ford service advisor noted the film was again peeling, and that two different brands/colors had been used. The top left bed rail was also damaged. I contacted XPEL and SunTek on 8/5/25--Sun Cap Auto Tint is not an authorized installer for either brand. I sent the owner photos and requested a full refund and reimbursement for the cost of professional removal, paint correction, and reinstallation with the proper film. We were misled from the beginning--wrong product, poor quality, delays, and permanent damage to our vehicle. We trusted this shop with a brand-new 100K truck, and instead received dishonest service, subpar workmanship, and additional costs. I have incurred additional expenses now for the removal and preparation costs required before replacement PPF can be installed by a reputable certified professional. I have since learned that PPF film must be installed in a "clean room" to prevent particles from becoming trapped beneath the surface. There is no clean room at this business used for PPF installation. The owner did not act in good faith or with integrity. Do not recommend - don't walk, run from this place! read more

If you care about your car, you will bring it to Mingo here at Sun Cap. This small shop is run by Mingo and his son Stefen and the work they do is incredible. FYI schedule an appointment, don't just randomly show up!! I had spent weeks searching the greater Houston area for a tint shop who would do my tint correctly. To start off, I have a 2013 Corvette with a back window notorious to trump the best of tinters. However, Mingo has mastered the Corvette and the pesky dot index on the back window as well as the curved glass. The reason the Corvette is so hard is due to the curve (a lot of shops will try to tint this in multiple pieces, and rarely do it in one piece), and the dot matrix at the top (raised dots on the window to prevent glare, that vary in size and create a difficult surface to tint over). A lot of other shops will try to sand the dots off, or paint over them, but Mingo has a 'hang and dry' technique that gives perfectly tinted dot indexes every time without altering the dots at all. He also tints the back window in one single piece (including the thicker ceramic tint) which just takes time and patience to form it correctly. He is well known in the Texas Corvette scene to be the master of tints. Usually, Mingo can get your corvette in and out within 3-4 hours, but since it was rainy when I brought it in, he couldn't leave it in the sun to speed up the process so I had to leave it overnight. I didn't mind at all as long as it was done correctly! Mingo was very straight up about this from the start, since the weather wasn't looking too good all weekend. He stored my car indoors overnight letting the rear tint dry using his "hang dry" method. Mingo really treats your car like its his own, and doesn't cut corners to get it right. He will be straight up with you, and give you honest opinions, advice, and prices. If you want, he'll take you step by step through the process, and you can watch as he performs everything meticulously. I swear he spent like an hour sweating as he used a heat gun to form the back panel of tint for my rear window. All the work done here is warrantied guaranteed, but I doubt I'll ever have to be back here for any complaints or issues. They really don't cut corners and it shows in their work. Their prices are very fair (I paid $350 for ceramic tint for the side windows and rear). He also was nice enough to allow me to film the process for my YouTube vlog. I'll definitely be back here in the future to tint my side markers and have been recommending him to every car-guy I know. I am a very picky person, and I am ecstatic over how my car turned out. I live downtown and made the trek up to Sun Cap and it was definitely worth it. They also do clear bras, wraps, and taillight tints as well. I took my 2019 MKC in for a front vinyl protection wrap. There was no pattern yet, so Mingo had to custom cut all the the lights, bumper, grill, etc to fit. He did an excellent job, everything is covered perfectly. I have run my vehicle through the commercial wash several times and the work has held up beautifully. We talked about the different tint options. I chose the ceramic tint. I had my 2012 Hyundai Sonata tinted. It's been several weeks now and the Tint looks fantastic. Mingo did a great job on my wife's C6 Grand Sport! His name comes up on the Corvette forums as The Guy in the Houston area. We're really happy with the tint job and he stayed late to finish it because the day got cloudy and it wasn't drying as fast as it would have in full sun. He was insistent on optimal dry time and he was obviously right, and he did the back window in one full piece. She'll be going back to him to black out the tail lights.
