Very good sushi and service. The sushi is very fresh and, very, very tasty (and I think that is what counts).

After traveling around Switzerland for a week, it got to that point in the trip where we…read moredesperately needed Asian food. We were passing through Düsseldorf for half a day and saw they're known for their Japanese food, so we decided to check out Takumi! They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. AJITAMA TONKOTSU RAMEN: I'm a tonkotsu person and almost always order this over other types of ramen. Not sure if I was just so severely deprived of Asian food, but I felt Takumi's tonkotsu ramen ranked pretty high on my list! And coming from SoCal as well as having lived down the street from both major Japanese food hubs in Los Angeles, that's saying a lot! Good amount of pork, the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture, and the broth was rich without being overly salty. I don't usually enjoy other types of ramen so I can't speak for those items from their menu. But I slurped my entire bowl of tonkotsu ramen dry! KARAAGE: Large pieces with crispy exterior and super juicy interiors! I wasn't expecting much but in the end I was super happy we ordered this. Overall, amazing tonkotsu ramen located in Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo.

Oh my. We went here for our anniversary. Somehow we thought, oh well, let's drive to Nijmegen…read more Because at sushitest.nl we read it to be considered one of the best places in The Netherlands to eat sushi. We came in to a reasonable sized restaurant. Not to big, which I liked: more intimate and definitely not the same vibe as an all-you-can-eat place. Which it isn't. The menu is a la carte and consists of both sushi and sashimi but also of different courses which can be ordered single or as a menu. The restaurant is decorated in a brocante/dark/purplish style which I do not really associate with Japanese food, but it has a chique and hip feel to it, so that's alright. As it is a fusion restaurant, that's probably the reason for the interor. We snuggled on a couch somewhere in the middle, which I really loved. We, sushi addicts, just glanced at the full courses and went for the sushi plate. They offer a big one and a smaller one. We ordered a small one (20 pieces) with no meat, just fish. (there's also a larger one of 32 pieces) Alongside, we ordered the hotategai roll and a spicy tuna roll. All was served on a big platter decorated with roses. A nice touch! My love asked if the roses were edible. They weren't, but the rettich they were put in was. Good to know ;) Save to say: all the sushi was delicious. A big surprise was the creamcheese roll. Normally, we'd skip those kind of fancy sushi's, but this one was briefly fried in tempura batter and still warm. It was so good! We ordered some "normal" nigiri (sake and maguro) and hoped to be just as impressed. Sorry to say that these were a little average. Not as tasty as we hoped. But all the "special" sushi was delicious. The only downside? All those sauces, mayonaise and tempura batter made me feel I should live on water and bread for the rest of the week. It must be heavy in calories. On the other hand, if we enjoy a plate like this once in a while, it'll be a nice break from the otherwise "simple" sushi we love so much. Definitely loved the experience. We ordered a little bit more out of curiosity, but the first round (the sushi plate of 22 + two extra rolls) was actually enough for both of us! The price is a little higher then at a regular all-you-can-eat restaurant (ironically, there is one on the other side of the street, facing IZZI!) but its way better for a good assault on the taste-buds.. Want to spoil yourself on some delicious fancy sushi? This is the place!

We ate sushi at iZZi and for the price you pay, you get ok sushi. I have had better sushi and at…read morebetter prices. The restaurant is not very cozy and service could be much improved. Based on my experience, I would not go back to eat there.
