What a nice spot to Harvest Host at. There is no food such as a full meals type but they do offer snacks to enjoy with your wine. The service and communication by Tiffany and Kim was very nice as it was nice of them to let us know of the happenings inside the winery that evening. We did go out and enjoy the live music, grabbed some snacks and wine samplers from the winery. All very good. Definitely a recommended stop and we'll be back.

Great display at the front door.

Great great wines! (Even a Jalapeño wine my clan adored) Wonderful staff & owners! Lots of great history that they honor. The original owner was an Army Veteran (Vietnam) and the staff have a discount for & great appreciation of military veterans! Their gift shop was so expansive and you can find any special item for that wine lover! Do There are several places you can sit 'a spell' and enjoy a chilled bottle of wine. Even though being masked up & social distances the staff exuded true "Southern Hospitality ".

    Chicken Salad

The absolute best chicken salad I've ever eaten. Pic doesn't do it justice because I didn't realize how great it was going to be.

The service was much better than at most such tasting places. We each had a flight of different wines, according to our preferences. They had some unusual wines - None great, but we liked the Pink Catawba and Strawberry Port (!). Had 2 Chicken Salad Croissants which were excellent.

Cupcake with a wine shot! So delicious I bought two!

I've been in the company of many wineries. It's safe to say that Sumner is a contender for my favorite winery in Tennessee. The place is easy to find. You can see it from the interstate and it's next to a gas station. Pop off that road trip, buy some gas and try yourself some wine. We were immediately greeted when walking into the place. My only regret is that I was so excited about the wine and cupcakes by the end that I didn't get a chance to check out the retail area. We were also making like Willie and getting "On the Road Again". No gypsies here though. Our wine guide was perfect. She guided us through the tasting, asked what we liked and offered up suggestions on the ones we should try. The tastings are free here and I got the impression that they want you to try them all. I tried all of the reds(sweet and dry), all of the dessert wines and all of the port wines. I only tried the dry whites as I wasn't in too much of a white wine mood. Let me tell you... had I not been at my budget for our Nashville excursion, I might've loaded up on their port wine. The three sit at 20% alcohol content. I must say that all three of them seemed dangerous. If you're good at picking out the alcohol tastes, then you can obviously taste it but it was way overshadowed by fruity goodness. Our guide was nice... definitely the type of person that you'd want to sit down and have a glass with. Once I found out that the tastings were free, I planned on buying a bottle of wine(that I didn't need this time around) until she mentioned that they have cupcakes. The cupcakes have little wine shooters in them. This one, in particular, had some of their peach wine. You can squeeze the wine into the cupcake, drizzle it on, or just drink it. It's totally up to you. I opted for the drizzle. I expected the cupcakes with wine to be on the pricey side but you want to know how much they were? It was about that time that a little loch ness monster(South Park joke opportunity) popped up on my shoulder and said... these cupcakes are about 3.50. 3.50! I decided to buy two and I should've gone ahead and bought half a dozen for that darn loch ness monster! They're delicious! We were told that the next cupcakes are supposed to be some type of apple spiced cinnamon flavor... *drools*. It's always weird when visiting wineries because tasting experiences and employees vary so wildly. Sumner Crest is one of the wineries that should be on a list of best in the country for sure. If you're passing through here, make it a point to stop in. You won't be disappointed.

When we decided that we would be doing a bit of winery-hopping on the way back to Louisville from Nashville, the hardest part was deciding on where we planned to stop and how many places we would visit. A quick search of wineries close to the highway, making sure they were open on our travel day, and checking their ratings...and we had settled on Sumner Crest Winery as our first wine stop. Sumner Crest Winery is a gem of a place, and I am only mad that I didn't find it sooner! It is conveniently located immediately off of I65, with ample parking. They are open 7 days a week and tastings are free. FREE I say! Beyond having the normal tasting room/bar, they have a kitschy-cute retail area, what looked like a small event space, a lovely patio, and offer some food items as well. Really, they have you covered! When we walked in, we were immediately and excitedly welcomed. The woman working who led our tasting is Kim. And let me tell you....Kim is awesome! She began by asking us our preferred wine styles and flavors and then led us through a sampling. There doesn't appear to be a limit on the number of different wines you can taste, and my guess is you will have to be the one to do the declining if there is one you don't want to try. Kim was incredibly friendly. Perfectly chatty and game to talk with us. She was also very helpful with recommendations of where to start and what to sample. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and the tasting notes, and it was a great help as we made our way through the menu. Overall, it was a spectacular wine tasting experience, thanks primarily to Kim! It was an absolute pleasure the entire time, and I happily purchased three bottles of wine to bring home with me. Not only are the wines pretty darn tasty, but they are very reasonably priced! Special shout out about their cupcakes! They had the cutest dang cupcakes for sale. I think they were a spice cake, but made with their peach wine and pieces of peaches. They come with a lil' pipette of the wine that you can either pump into the cake, drizzle on top of the cake and frosting, or...you know...straight in to your mouth! The flavors change up, and the next one sounded even BETTER than the peach offering. Getcha one! Sumner Crest Winery is worth a special trip to visit. But if you need a reason, take a lil' trip to Nashville! Sumner Crest is only about a half hour north of the city.

Just visited this winery while on vacation. This is a great private little spot. We were there early so not a whole lot of people, but we enjoyed the ambiance. They have a shop with many different kinds of jams, cheese and knicknacks. The service was perfect. I don't remember the lady's name but she was awesome. Highly recommend this place.

Ok. So...10 minutes in, I was thinking "2 stars...if they are lucky!" But you know what...? Turns…read moreout they were lucky, so 3 stars it is! Things got a little better and the two wines that are actually under their name/label were surprisingly delicious! Anyway, we were driving back to Louisville from Nashville and the Fella filled me with joy when he said we could stop at a couple wineries on the way. Not only is it a great way to break up the monotonous drive, but it allowed me to try more Kentucky wineries (like a Pokemon, I wanna try 'em all!). Cave Valley Winery was the right distance between the first place we stopped and getting home, so we decided this would be our final boozy-stop on the way. It is easy to get to, just a small loop off the highway at the Park City exit. It was a strange first impression when we got there, though. The winery isn't so much a winery, as it is a room inside an old hotel that also operates as the site's regular bar. They were also getting ready for a Ladies' Shooting competition to be held on the weekend, there were lots of gun signs and promotional booths and tents set up and sponsor banners. We weren't initially sure that we were at the right place...maybe some of the banners were covering the winery sign? Also...guns and alcohol...what could go wrong, amirite? It was strange. When we walked in to the bar, there were two people futzing around with the register iPad and a printer. It took a bit before we were greeted, and when we were, they both mentioned that they were not the tasting host and would go get her. While she was being retrieved, we were able to look over the wine list and the woman at the bar got us started with our first sample, though she admitted she didn't really know anything about the wines. Once the usual wine tasting host, Amber, came in we were ready to lock and load. (Get it...because of the gun range...no? Ok.) You get 5 samples for $5. But be aware, they only have TWO wines under their own label. The two they have are surprisingly delicious, if I do say so myself. As for the rest of the two-page wine list, they are all wines from Wight-Meyer, which is not one of my favorite places either. So that was a little disappointing. And they were out of a few of the wines I wanted to taste. Amber was pretty alright though, with some information on tasting notes. But she was minutes from the end of her shift and asked that we close out right away. Which was fine, we needed to get on the road again anyway. Overall, I am conflicted. It was a weird experience, but their wines are decent and once Amber got to our tasting, all was well. But temper your expectations if you are a winery-hopper like me. (If I was feeling more generous, I would give another star just for all the puppers roaming about....but really, 3 stars is where its at.)

We bought General Entry tickets & wildflower picking tickets online a few weeks in advance. When we got to the gardens they asked for our names and directed us to park. Once inside we stopped over a the bar for a wine tasting - all of the wines are made in Tennessee on property - and bought 2 bottles for us to enjoy throughout the night. We also checked in for wildflower picking at the bar and were given glass jars to fill with flowers. The staff was very kind and helpful during that process. I also thoroughly enjoyed the free strawberry lemonade and regular lemonade that they provided guests, though some of my friends thought it was too sweet! Our one mistake was not going to pick flowers earlier in the night. We started when the sun was setting, but the area was so large that it was dark by the time we were finished. It was also the last week for wildflower picking, so there weren't as many left available as I imagine there is earlier in the month. We also ordered pasta from Pasta Gailfi, a food truck that was on site and enjoyed it at our table. If I were to do it over again, I would also bring our own food and a deck of cards or a board game for us to enjoy as well! The venue was stunning, and I imagine it acts as a beautiful wedding venue as well.

The barn is clean, pretty, and has special spots for pictures and retail. Music is going and the videos are being played on the tv above the tasting station. 2) locally & woman owned business! Nuff said. 3) greeted by an 8 week old puppy during our visit, which was very fun, more entertaining than the horses IMO. 4) The owner takes the time to learn about what she's giving you to taste and drink, which is nice! 5) Great picture taking opportunities! 6) we had to reschedule because of a family emergency of one of the party members, and the owner was incredibly easy to work with to make sure we could still attend without losing any money or the experience. Customer service was great. Could make a better experience: Price - $60 seemed fair for something unique but then you add on the fees/taxes and it's $74.25 per person, not sure where that additional ~$15 goes but I'd be much more inclined to return if there's a way to pay without the additional fees. (Also, website descriptions say $55 then the price is $60 - fix to match increase.) We definitely thought there would be more to do with the horses. Even if customers can't do something, maybe show off any tricks or special things the horses to make it more about the Equine than the Wine! Overall, if you love horses and are looking for something different to do in Nashville, this is it!
