My son and daughter-in-law just got married here last weekend. We were absolutely shocked at the condition of the facilities, especially the barn. They have been doing renovations which included sprayed white insulation on every interior wall and the ceiling of the barn. 2 weeks prior my daughter-in-law did a walk-through of the barn and the owner assured her that all of the walls and ceilings would be finished and that the venue would look beautiful. My poor daughter-in-law was i absolute tears when she walked in for the rehearsal the night before and noticed that the entire facility was still completely undone. The interior still had over sprayed chunky insulation on the interior. Nothing had been touched or been finished like she was promised. It looked absolutely terrible. She asked the owner if it would be finished that evening and the owner dismissed her by only replying NO and then rushed out without any other discussion. Her bridesmaids had to rush out to Michaels to find some fabric and bunting to cover an entire corner of the room because it was so unsightly. Also, the bridal suite was filthy dirty including a disgustingly dirty toilet. The room that had all of the decor and chairs and things were covered in an inch of dust and the chairs that we needed to use for the bride and grooms table were covered in black mold. The air conditioning was also not working due to the renovations. I would NEVER recommend this venue to anyone. They should be ashamed for tarnishing what should have been the happiest day of their lives. This was honestly a case of fraud. It was a beautiful day and I had time to pick for myself but they did have baskets of strawberries out for sale for those who don't have time but want the freshest looking strawberries. read more

Their website claims they are open daily at 8am, and that the weekends are the best time to come for the fall festival activities. Drove my 2 year old all the way here on a Sunday morning, getting here at 8:30, only to find a ghost town with nothing open or available. Drove past their pumpkin grove, gourds didn't look particularly healthy. read more

Peach picking is not for the faint of heart. I, like many others, love a good peach. Nothing says 'summer' like berries, peaches and watermelon. We're fortunate in Tennessee that all these goodies grow locally and we can enjoy them freshly picked and sun kissed. In theory. After my experience at Bottom View, I will never pick my own peaches again. In fact, I'm quite happy to leave peaches to Georgia and Nene Leakes. Have you ever picked a peach? If not, let me regale with how to do so. First, you enter into a grove of trees with forebodingly long tendrils where branches are on other trees. Then, you step carefully because the heavy fruit, typically, falls to the earth and litters the ground in golden-red carcasses. Then you look up in the trees. You look up to the trees to pick your fruit... and that's when you see it. Them. The bugs. The colonies and colonies of beetles, spiders and other flying things that love the sticky sweet taste of peaches as much as humans do. When I saw one bug, I thought, "That's gross but I'm in the country at an organic farm. Good for them for doing without the pesticides." When I saw other bugs, I got a bit creeped out but I kept it together. After all, it was my idea to come out to the country and pick peaches. When I saw peach after peach that resembled black softballs (due to being covered with ravenous beasts), I cussed in front of a child, ran and SHRIEKED. Yes, I shrieked. There was no barbaric yop. There was only the spine-chilling, high-pitched, take-the-child-but-leave-me shrill of bug-induced terror. The satisfaction of picking my own fruit can't compare to the "I'll never teeellll" rocking-back-and-forth trauma of the bugs... so... so many bugs. Everywhere. Without fear. As I said that day, "Eff these peaches." I will buy from The Peach Truck and keep it moving. That said, the blueberry and apple picking at Bottom View was without incident and both fruit were abnormally sweet. The blueberries were some of the best that I've ever had. That's not an exaggeration. The crisp green apples surprised me with their clean, tart taste. Apples come in to season in mid-July and stay there until the end of the year. I prefer green apples to red so I was quite pleased. The peaches were a different story. Through no fault of the farm's, the rains jacked up the yield and quite a few of them showed signs of rot and scabbing. The ones on the tree weren't particularly large (another telltale sign of a bad year). The pre-picked peaches, though, looked much better and were of marketplace size. That's right, you can buy pre-picked fruit but what's the fun of that? Speaking of fun, the farm has a zip line, pumpkin patches, ice cream, tins of Charles Chips (!), interesting buildings, stockades, a 'jail', a train, a cat & dog who couldn't be bothered with screaming city slickers, a 'post office', a lake, and an old '76 (or, was it 'Gulf'?) sign. My party and I were charmed by the farm and the proprietor. We had to give our Kentucky credentials so she didn't put us* out. She told us that many school groups and weddings come to the property. I don't doubt it. I bet it's gorgeous, come fall. Bottom View offers a terrific excuse to get out of the city and reconnect with what makes this part of the country/state so nice. Just be sure to buy your peaches pre-picked. *I am not taking sole blame of screaming. read more

After searching high and low for an apple orchard that let you pick apples yourself that still had apples available mid-September, I found this place and planned to drive up. It took about 50 minutes from Nashville. As you drive in, you will be able to see the different fields, a wedding gazebo, a barn, and about four or five old buildings intended to give the place a mod 1800's vibe. It was cuter than I was expecting! The older gentleman who worked there explained that his wife was away and the restaurant wasn't opened, but that we were welcome to pick the apples and gave us baskets. The orchards were very close to parking, which was great as I went with my 2.5 year old. There were 4 types of apples, and the trees had plenty on them. There were also plenty on the ground, but I didn't notice that bees or bugs were a problem. We filled up our apple baskets within an hour, and that included walking around the very 1960's metal playground equipment, and saying hi to some Roosters. read more

For as big of a business as this one is, the communication is terrible! I called 2 times before venturing out 30 min one way to get strawberries. I did tell the person that I was driving 30 min one way and asked him there were any strawberries available. The older woman that answered the phone tells me, Come on and get them if you want them, we have some picked. When I arrived to the "wagon" a man had about 20 gallon of strawberries around him and I asked to buy 1. He said these are all sold. We are out. I explained that I had already called 2 times and told them I was on my way. No luck. I think what I'm most upset about is I was never asked to prepay for them ( I would have gladly done so) or even asked my name so 1 gallon could have been reserved for me. Apparently they do reserve. I will never go out of my way again to go here. read more
