They were fast. Employees were kind and knowledgeable. The place got a LOT of cars through inspection quickly.

The employees in this locations are not the most friendly but they are straight to the point an efficient and that's what is the most important to me. If u are looking to chat and find out how is granny u better find a coffee shop lol

Last time I went there, I had to loop around for parking, I engaged in no pleasant conversation and I waited a half hour. As soon as I hit 'send' on that review I regretted it and experience has borne that feeling out to be the correct one. So why am I engaging in the same sort of self-sabotage? I dunno. I must be a glutton for punishment. I don't quite believe that everyone has to undergo a smog check before getting to renew their license/vehicle registration. With the amount of loud revving, black-smoke-kicking-up Mad Max vehicles I see in Middle Tennessee, either I am the only one falling for this scam or there are a lot of people driving illegally -- because there's no way those cars passed inspection. So, back to Dickerson. This smog station is a welcome respite from the long lines and bad attitudes of other ones. If you live out east, you should be coming here. Actually, if you live in Davidson County, you should be coming here. It's worth the drive. Even though the wait has increased (slightly) in the four years I've been coming here, it's not as bad as other locations. And the wait comes from the amount of cars, not from the techs -- all of who have been kind, efficient and speedy. Come with cash, your papers and a (relatively) clean car and you should be in and out in under ten minutes. As long as vehicle emissions are a thing (and considering it's 90 degrees in October, it should be a thing), you should try and make the process as efficient and painless as possible. That's this location. It is. At least, it is now. Please don't mess up a good thing. I don't want to have to have a 'talk' with you about this a year from now...

This was seriously my shortest wait EVER... and while I have to give myself credit for most of it (waiting until the week before the end of the month AND getting there at 11:15) I still gotta give the staff at this locations some mad props because they were fast, efficient, and I like that this location is removed from highly retailed areas, I believe allowing for faster service and less wait time. PLUS if you go to http://www.nashvillevip.org/ you can check out the current wait time with video. So as soon as I saw the wait time was 3 minutes around 10:45, I hopped in my car and INCLUDING travel time I was gone for 30 minutes, I was at the emissions location for under 15 minutes. Seriously. Crazy. Most efficient station I've visited!!

Ah, emissions testing. Aside from paying astronomical property taxes, this is likely next on the…read morelist of tasks most Davidson County residents dread. That said, I did find the station location list on the Vehicle Inspection Program (VIP) website to be quite helpful. Not only did I discover the Hermitage station is open on Saturdays, they also have a live camera feed with an estimated wait time listed beside it. Since certificates are valid for 90 days, I decided it would be a good idea to go long before my tag expired (so if lines sucked, I could bail and go back another time). I also know going in the middle of the month is usually ideal, and thought a beautiful Saturday afternoon may be the ticket to super speedy testing. I thought right! I checked the Hermitage (aka "Station 04-Stoners Bend") camera feed and wait time before heading out. I saw one car waiting with an estimated wait time of 8 minutes. "Sweet. Let's roll." It's been a very long time since I've called the East side of Nashville home, so I GPS'd my way there. Of course the automated woman stated I had arrived at my destination long before I actually had and the signage is close to terrible. Tip: Keep going all the way down Stoners Bend Drive. The testing station IS the "cul-de-sac" of this road! It's located to the left of a gated party rental warehouse. The drive wraps around underneath some beautiful trees where shade is a-plenty. As I approached the station, I found three bays open, one of which was empty and an employee flagged me into the bay. NO WAITING! YAAAASS! I gave the attendant my renewal paperwork and paid him the testing fee of $9.00 in cash. (I prefer giving them exact change, but they will accept up to $20 bill.) He asked me to step out of my vehicle, then asked me to stand in a particular area. I thought I knew what he said and where I was supposed to go (not my first time doing this), but I didn't hear or realize I was supposed to step into the waiting area with the plexiglass windows and door -- as us hockey fans might think it to be...the "penalty box" (cuz that what it look like!). Anyway, since my hearing is not great, he had to ask me three times before I finally understood what he was gesturing and apparently telling me to do that I couldn't understand. (He wasn't rude, and I'm used to just standing inside the yellow lines painted on the floor...not a security box.) Overall, I think I was there a total of 10 minutes. Pretty painless. Oh and my vehicle passed. Hooray!
