For the last 2 years this is the place I chose to have me emissions test in all my cars and never disappoint,easy an convenient and never disappoint to just drive into this place with no one around so that means is not waiting maybe because is in the middle of the day and the first week of the month so no one is rushing to get their registration done. The employees in this locations are not the most friendly but they are straight to the point an efficient and that's what is the most important to me. I really shouldn't be writing this review. Really. After I went and shared the secret about the Madison location of the Davidson County Clerk, y'all went and messed it all up. Last time I went there, I had to loop around for parking, I engaged in no pleasant conversation and I waited a half hour. As soon as I hit 'send' on that review I regretted it and experience has borne that feeling out to be the correct one. So why am I engaging in the same sort of self-sabotage? I dunno. I must be a glutton for punishment. I don't quite believe that everyone has to undergo a smog check before getting to renew their license/vehicle registration. With the amount of loud revving, black-smoke-kicking-up Mad Max vehicles I see in Middle Tennessee, either I am the only one falling for this scam or there are a lot of people driving illegally -- because there's no way those cars passed inspection. So, back to Dickerson. This smog station is a welcome respite from the long lines and bad attitudes of other ones. If you live out east, you should be coming here. Actually, if you live in Davidson County, you should be coming here. It's worth the drive. Even though the wait has increased (slightly) in the four years I've been coming here, it's not as bad as other locations. And the wait comes from the amount of cars, not from the techs -- all of who have been kind, efficient and speedy. Come with cash, your papers and a (relatively) clean car and you should be in and out in under ten minutes. As long as vehicle emissions are a thing (and considering it's 90 degrees in October, it should be a thing), you should try and make the process as efficient and painless as possible. NO WAIT on a Saturday. WOW. I think I'm still in shock! The website said they were open at 9am, so I made my way to this location and pulled in at about 9:15. The sign said they were closed on Saturdays, so I almost turned around since I thought for sure they were closed since there was not a single car in line. I'm glad I didn't! I pulled right in and was out of there in about 5 minutes. That has NEVER happened before. The line moved quickly, and gentleman I got in my line was super friendly and helpful. He knew my coupe was a classic diesel, which impressed me, because even at emissions, not everyone does! I was in and out super quickly. read more

The Madison inspection station on Gallatin Road is a little hard to find, if you're not paying attention. It is by far the best inspection station in Davidson County. And they are quick and efficient and have extended hours. Be sure to see Richard as your inspector as he is very thorough. They are highly rated in my book! read more

Mon & Tue 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Wed, Thu, & Fri 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Sat 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Closed: Sun Fourth time for this requirement. Every year, I go here to get my emission test. Everyone has always been nice, efficient, quick, polite. Some years I have gone and been in line for 30 minutes, and some years I have gone and been in line 5 minutes. It's all random.
