We ended up purchasing a few extra items on the side, including some jerky for our dogs, and we can't wait to get home and see them enjoy their special treats too! To top everything off, Luke personally gave us a small gift. That thoughtful gesture really made our first visit feel special and showed us the kind of customer service and hospitality this place is all about. We will DEFINITELY be returning and telling all of our friends and family about this place. We can't wait to share it on our story and spread the word throughout the community. i ride my bike everywhere... just saturday, i rode from san jose to demo then to nisene marks, to aptos, and then back to san jose and the sierra azul and home.... im thru the place every once in a while... they are totally ok when i roll thru there with my bike (most large stores arnt), and they have great customer service too... its kinda weird saying that a grocery store has good customer service, but they do. i walked up to the register with my mountain bike and a few items, (including yogurt)... i asked if they had spoons anywhere, and the older guy with the stache who was ringing me up, quickly walked over to the deli, and actually got me one... granted its a small thing, but the service was good... plus everyone there is cheery.... they are a few extra cents over any large store, but who cares, id much rather buy from them than any large store... plus as others have commented, their food actually is good... i wish they had more stores like this in the valley.. read more

Disturbing NEW development!! They are getting their old bakery items and not throwing them away like they used to but serving them in sandwiches! They used to throw away day old bakery items but they are now taking them (example old Croissants) and serving them up in the next days sandwiches and not disclosing this!! If you try it, it doesn't taste good! They hide it by adding more butter~~ I'm so concerned about this development I'm now investigating the marinated meat that sits in those plastic bags below the meat counter. Old meat??? Summit store is just fantastic! Without Summit Store life here in the mountains would be soooo inconvenient. Our family has lived here for two generations and the service, selection and qualtiy of the items sold are top notch! Ben, the son-in-law of the owner running the day to day, does a fantastic job of keeping his staff happy, given many of the people working there wouldn't go anywhere else and have been there for many years. The vegetables are always fresh, for the most part organic, the meat section well stocked with the best quality and not to mention the grand variety of wines. Very nice store inside and out. The deli sandwiches, pre-made salads, wraps, and salad bar, etc. are very good, some not all of the ladies making the deli sandwiches behind the counter seem to get a little grumpy if they have to make more than one sandwich or if they get busy at least the 2 times I have been there that has been the case. If you have a large vehicle (work truck or rv) try and park on the street (it is easier to get in and out) and there is a 10 cent charge for a paper bag like San Jose. read more

this is a fantastic grocery store. small compared to chain stores such as safeway, whole foods and lucky's, but still have a great selection of healthy organic eats. i would not be surprised that the majority of their produce and meats are locally grown from the near-by farms. they even have a deli that makes sandwiches to order, BBQ, salads, pasta - like a closet size whole foods. the staff? super friendly! the community here are lucky to have such a great grocery store! read more

Great neighborhood market, but expect slightly higher prices. They have a great deli counter with special sandwiches (I recommend the tri-tip) and some hot foods too. The meat counter is amazing and they have a better than expected beer/beverage selection. For me personally that's not an issue but if you're a stickler for "local" local then you might want to try other stores.
