After only four months the bill has gone up $1000 a month even though she's doing better than when she got there. Apparently there is no lease and they can raise the rate when they see fit. They determine how much care you need and can raise the care rate anytime. It definitely feels like a bait and switch. I'm digging into it now and I'll keep you posted and also send me your good places if you don't mind. The food I have tried there seems good and many of the people that work there are lovely (not Diane, she's not a people person lol) . The corporation that runs it, I'm not sure about. Look out!

Please do not choose this facility if you want transparency. They say their response time for the call button is 3-5 minutes. I sat on the phone with my mom for almost an hour as I had her press her call button every 5 minutes with no response from anyone. As I was packing her things everything was dirty and sticky, I was especially disgusted with the bathroom floor(I have pictures)...my poor mom had to step on that floor with her bare feet. I have many more examples of the poor care they give. Please do NOT consider American House in Macedonia, Ohio.

Nursing claimed to have tested mom for some hospital acquired diseases but it wasn't until a family member went into the facility, that the tests were done. An IV antibiotic was ordered Sunday, started Monday and fell out Tuesday. They had to call a service to re-insert and they didn't come til Thursday. i could go on and on. One star too many.

From the moment we walked in, it felt like more than just a facility--it felt like a true community. The staff is amazing. Kind, patient, compassionate--just genuinely good people who clearly care about what they do. They treated my dad with so much respect and dignity, and they were always keeping us updated and involved. It was such a comfort knowing he was in such good hands. One thing that really stood out to us was how communicative and connected they kept us, even when we couldn't be there. They're super active on social media, which might sound small, but it made such a big difference--seeing photos and updates of activities or special moments gave us a glimpse into his day and brought us so much peace and even a few smiles. The whole place just has this warm, welcoming vibe. It's faith-based, which meant a lot to our family, and it really does feel like everyone there is part of one big extended family. There's a spirit about Light of Hearts Villa that's hard to explain, but you feel it when you're there. We're so thankful we found this place. It gave our dad the care he deserved, and it gave us peace of mind. We'll always be grateful for that.

In our case, an unreliability (not enough professional rigor) in their intake process/assessment resulted in them accepting residents that they could not support, even initially. Their hearts may be in the right place, but their professionalism is lacking and led to some extremely stressful situations in which we paid for rent and additional fees for LOHV services, but were then also required to pay fees for outside aides to supplement what was lacking in LOHV services. The seeming lack of professional standards (and/or training?) for staff, including aides, nursing, and administration left us wondering if they really understood how to work with elderly people as adults with specific needs rather than big children. While the facility looks nice and seems to be maintained very well, the care was very disappointing.
