In 2018, 4 weeks after a total hip replacement, I blackout falling hard with all my weight on my knee on the surgery side. This pushed the femur up the stem of the hip prosthesis splitting the femur.
I recovered okay after the second hip replacement but was left with knee pain. I complaint multiple times to the surgeon and to the therapist during hip rehab. Over the next 4 years I would mention the knee pain to various medical professionals and was told that nothing was wrong with the knee, "it was okay".
I became fearful with falling, with knee pain and the inability to walk properly. I was hobbling and needed a cane sometimes a walker or hiking poles. My balance was very unsteady and getting worse. I spend a lot of tome in the recliner to keep from hurting, walking or falling.
Our new Doctor suggested physical therapy with Summit PT in Cleveland, Tennessee. During one of my sessions the therapist noticed that one of my legs was shorter and it was on the same side as my pain. After some investigation he discoved that the pelvis wasnout of alinment. He worked on this problem and the next day I was walking better, the pain relied, and my balance was improving.
I was amazed and grateful for the help I received at Summitt PT and the therapist who willingly listened to my needs. THANKS!!! read more
