Summit Health touts their patient portal as a very convenient way to make appointments. Don't bother. The patient portal sucks. I just tried to make an appointment. I entered the specialty, as required. When I tried to enter my doctor's name (as required) the website would not display a drop-down menu with the doctors' names. And, you cannot type in your doctor's name. As a result, the website would not allow an appointment to be made. The alternative, calling to make an appointment is also frustrating. You are lucky if you don't have to waste at least 5 to 10 minutes before someone answers the phone and then connects you to someone who can actually make an appointment. Maybe Summit Health just doesn't have the technology to properly operate a patient portal. Maybe they just don't care. I don't know. One more thing, the patient portal does not allow any messages to be sent to a "customer service" department. read more

Their "Patient Relations" Department is awful. The supervisor, Jessica, actually instructs her reps to hang up on customers. Jessica and her rep Sheena, are incredibly rude, unprofessional, and quite frankly, patients deserve respect also. This company is not in the health business but rather in the business of making money by scamming their patients and mistreating their doctors. They restrict your time with your doctor, requiring the assistant to constantly knock on the door to remind her that she is spending too much time with you. Many of the best doctors I know have left because they aren't allowed to be the good doctors that they want to be. They also send you bills for additional payments after you have already paid their bill - probably because they couldn't gauge the insurance company to pay the amount they want. Although we haven't had a negative experience with the doctors, customer service is horrendous! It's nearly impossible to reach a live person and when you do they are not prepared to handle your questions. Mixing up bills with other patients; adding on to bills by adding procedures/services that were never performed; mis coding procedures and then insurance won't cover a standard procedure; not have the orders in for bloodwork when appointment is due; not really listening to the problems, because they can only handle ONE issue at a time - 'cause the body is not connected? My favorite is: finding a specialist, because referral, having an appointment, being a bit ridiculed by the specialist, but then the specialist quits and you can't make a follow up appointment. The Urgent Care Center located at this Summit Medical Group is a very reliable place to get fast and efficient medical treatment. In the event of most minor alignments or injuries or even in the situations where you don't really feel like heading over to the larger Hospitals where you're only gonna have to wait seemingly forever, then you might as well head to this Urgent Care Center. They'll stitch you up and have you back in action in no time flat. Well, ok it was more like an hour and a half, but you get what I'm saying. It's Quick in comparison to the big scale Hospitals. Dr Rizkala made an appointment for me in Old Bridge and I live in Red Bank. He could have seen me in Holmdel. My medical transport had me in Old Bridge 15 minutes prior to my appointment. Rizkala put me in an office for an hour and as I was waiting in that office I could see my medical transport show up to pick me up...I had to leave because the medical transport wont wait on an irresponsible Dr, like Rizkala. I received no apology for wasting my time, no follow up call to reschedule. This practice has no respect for your time. They will call you to reschedule your appointment two hours earlier and then make you sit there for three and be seen later than your originally scheduled appointment. This review is for Dr. Amanda Borrelli and her amazing staff. I have seen Dr. Borrelli at her Warren office and could not be more pleased. I have been seeing Dr. Borrelli for roughly 6 months. She has been able to properly diagnose and treat my lymphodema without asking me where I went to medical school or insulting me. Dr. Borrelli actually listens to her patients and it does not go unnoticed. I am pleased to have Dr. Borrelli treat me. Wife and I recently went to Summit health for the first time for an annual physical check up. We received multiple payment requests that adds up to over $400. Their billing departments is arrogant and useless, apparently they don't know how to submit claims properly but expect customer to handle their billing issues. The rep on the call said he can't explain me what the issue is but he expected to get paid. Had an 8:40am appointment with Denise Gorham, NP. Waited 15 minutes in waiting room. I went to front desk person and asked if it would be much longer. She went in the back to check. Waited an addtional 5 minutes with no response. I had to get to work and left. Someone did call my cell 5 minutes later to see where i was and she explained they were short staffed. My opintion, if you bite off more than you can chew the lilelyhood you choke increases. Adjust your schedule to what you can accomodate. read more

3.5 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 non small cell lung cancer. My family doctor led me to the cancer center where I put my life in the hands of all concerned there, from my Oncologist to my Radiology Oncologist to the entire staff in both the labs, radiology, infusion and the wonderful folks in the CT scan labs, the schedulers and all the folks who waved and said hello and good morning every day. For the scariest time in my life, I was so lucky to have my doctors and nurses whom I trusted implicitly. I never had one negative issue with this home away from home. I knew they were there when I needed them and could talk to my doctors when I felt scared. I've felt so incredibly lucky to have found this wonderful place. Now I only see them every 6 months and still get waves and hellos from the folks I think of as my friends. I am blessed. read more
