My Post-Daycare Coffee Ritual Summit Coffee has become my go-to spot for a morning coffee after I drop my son off at daycare. The vibe is friendly, relaxed, and everyone behind the bar has been consistently great. One moment really sold me on this place: I accidentally placed a to-go order to the wrong Summit location. Totally my fault. They didn't make it a thing at all--just made my drink on the spot and didn't charge me again. That kind of customer service sticks with you. My usual is a decaf Americano. Simple order, but they nail it every time. You still get that nice richness and "oiliness" you want from good coffee, and you can tell they're using fresh beans. They also recently added a breakfast sandwich that is ridiculously good. Definitely on the decadent side--not an everyday thing--but perfect to split with someone if you're watching calories, or to fully lean into if you're in cheat-meal mode. Summer drinks have me in a chokehold. I've driven by this location many times but only recently stopped in. It's roomy inside with plenty of seating, making it a nice option for working or hanging out. Staff was very friendly and service was quick. They have a variety of baked goods to try. I decided on a blueberry lemonade sconce. It wasn't very sweet but I guess that's a good thing. Unicorn soda was pretty but wasn't sweet either, maybe it needed more blueberry. I did enjoy the garden party, it was pretty too. Parking is plentiful and they are open until about 5, which is nice. read more

My #1 Go-To when I need a change of scenery to get some casual work done. Out of all the Summit Coffee locations, this one is my favorite - generally not overcrowded, kind staff, and the amount of daylight that comes through the windows and sliding doors is my favorite aspect. Plus: Many other coffee shops feature real mugs and glassware in their social ads but fail to follow through on that experience in-person. Here they do serve in actual mugs/glass and I really love that that do this. read more

Highly discourage coming to the Birkdale location. Extremely rude workers. The atmosphere says it all when you walk in the front door. Needs new management. Horrible customer service. I came here for a coffee and ended up getting an oat milk cappuccino. I was surprised at how much more expensive it was to have oat milk in such a small drink, so I wouldn't do that again. The coffee was good, and I enjoy visiting local coffee shops, but there wasn't anything that made this really stick out. I love Summit and have been visiting the Davidson location for years. This location brings the same amazing coffee and additional indoor and outdoor seating which is great to see!! The one con for this location specifically is I've never had a "quick" trip here as there is almost always a long wait to get my drink compared to other locations. I visited Summit Coffee's newest location in Birkdale Landing a couple of days after their grand opening, and I'm sad to say that I was unimpressed. My biggest issue was with the coffee. I ordered two lattes with extra shots and almond milk. Their 16 oz lattes normally have two shots, so the extra shot made four shots per drink. That was good. However, neither latte was hot enough (temperature-wise), and I'm not sure if that was due to the inadequate steaming of the almond milk or the temperature of the actual coffee. They also only offer two types of alternative milk - sweetened almond and oat milk. No unsweetened versions are available, so Summit is basically off my list for a morning beverage, since I never add sugar to my coffee. I followed up to share my feedback with the owner, and she said that they only use sweetened almond milk because it steams better. Still...I've had plenty of delicious steamed unsweetened almond milk lattes from other places. How can a coffee shop have such an abysmal selection of milks? I'm sad that Summit is NOT keto-friendly. If you want something to eat, they only have a few choices, with one or two bagels and doughnuts, and several varieties of scones. I tried the chocolate chip scone, which was extremely moist inside, and VERY good. Their staff were very efficient and friendly, and I'm happy that they take Apple Pay. I love Summit Coffee! This is a local coffee shop that started in downtown Davidson, but has expanded to this new larger location in the newly renovated Birkdale Village. A plus of this location is the large parking lot and expanded amount of space to sit. I always order their Matcha latte, but they also have really good lattes. Try something off their seasonally rotating menu for a tasty new find. Overall, the beans here are really rich and robust. You can even buy a bag if you're feeling inclined. The vibe is really relaxed here, and there are a number of small tables to sit down with a cup of coffee and work. read more

I've been to summit at Birkdale Landing on many occasions, admitting not for coffee, but to enjoy evening entertainment and a glass of vino. (While the cost of a glass is in the higher range, they have tons of delicious options and not the kind that are poured from a can.) To this date I have not been disappointed. The grass area is safe for my kids to run around, A-1 entertainment and the staff is always inviting and friendly. It's one of my favorite places to go for a low key, wind down evening. read more

Great location, awesome outdoor space. However they were out of EVERYTHING we ordered. Everything honestly- stopped by after work for a drink. 3 different wines out, they checked us out and we paid before they even realized they were out. While the coffee, staff and day time atmosphere are wonderful and worth five stars, the dreadfully horrible open mic "music" they choose to torture, not only the other surrounding businesses but the neighborhood next door with, warrant hardly one star. If only they could require these "singers" to audition before blessing everyone within earshot with loud, off key, noise. It's not entertaining, it's painful to be subjected to it week after week. Please take away the microphone or amplifier and let these people sing to the few people that happen to be there. Make it stop! read more
