Duncan Estate - Memorable wedding photos! www.DuncanEstate.com, www.Facebook.com/Duncan.Estate.SC

Duncan Estate

Beautiful old mansion tucked away behind big gates, a hidden gem with about 4 acres of tall trees…read moreand lush grass. What an exquisite venue for a wedding! Plenty of parking but it can be difficult to navigate with disabilities. Large brick patios, wedding stage at the end of the gardens, and dressing rooms upstairs. Plenty of outbuildings and even a free-standing bar building. Just beautiful!

Stop looking for wedding venues!…read more This is the place. I can NOT say enough good things about Danielle and her staff at The Duncan Estate. Here's my experience: I got married Dec 1st, 2018. I wanted a Christmas themed wedding. It poured rain the day I got married. Literal buckets and buckets! But because of the affordable price of the venue I was able to rent heaters and sides for the tent that was already provided. The last thing a bride wants is rain on her wedding day although they say it's good luck. Danielle and her staff busted tail with my wedding planner to make sure everything was magical. The rain didn't affect any of the intimate moments we wanted of our day. I swear that this is because of Danielle's organization and coordination with my planner. Rehearsal dinner issue: I had a lot of trouble with the first few venues we chose to do the rehearsal dinner at. Communication was not a priority to them and I was really struggling. Luckily Danielle was there. I contacted her in a frenzy 2 weeks prior to our event (don't wait that late!). She not only handled our wedding, but we got to have our rehearsal dinner there too. Which made it so nice to not have to change scenery with so many people. We had it catered right there on the property after our rehearsal. It made things so easy on us. I recommend asking if you can cater the rehearsal here as well if it's an option. It was very affordable and also allowed us to feel better about the big day. COMMUNICATION: Of course I had no idea what I was doing when I showed up to look at the Duncan Estate, but from the time we signed our agreement to even the week after, Danielle was there. She sent me so many resources to help me budget, plan, even questions and things I had not thought of. She answered all of my emails in a timely manner and communicated with me often. This is so CRUCIAL when you are looking for a venue. FINANCIALLY: Trying to save money? Of course you are. Weddings are costly. The Duncan Estate was so affordable! Includes table, chairs and a tent in your price! She also gives discounts for different weekends depending on supply and demand. I think this is important to know because this helped us afford sides and a heater for the tent. She was very considerate of us having to rent these for a December wedding. THE LOOK: But I want my wedding to look phenomenal! Of course you do and since Danielle cares about all those details she has dedicated so much time and effort to preserving the Duncan Estate and also to making sure your details are the way you want them. Danielle spent a lot of time answering my questions and going over the events of my day. She spent 2 hours with me, the groom, and the coordinator combing through every detail a couple of weeks prior. It made the day of events move as smooth as they could. I can't imagine not having someone so organized with all the rain delays and junk we had with the weather on our wedding day. The bottom line is you can't control outside circumstances like the weather or companies with bad communication. But you can control who you choose to handle your special day. Choose the Duncan Estate. I promise Danielle will make sure your wedding is everything you want and more.

The Forevermore Farm - Flowers provided by Forevermore Florals

The Forevermore Farm

Prior to booking, the owner, Ren, was very accommodating to my smaller wedding plans and charged me…read morea per hour rate to include (and I have in writing) 10 farm tables, 100 guest chairs, cake, gift, and sign-in tables, bridal suite and groom's quarters. I booked online but the invoice was for $50 more than I was quoted. I questioned it and never got an answer from the owner but I didn't argue it for all that I was getting. I scheduled two walkthroughs before the wedding and the above inclusion was also verbal from the owner at my first walkthrough. At the second walkthrough, I was met by Breanna who was so very nice. She was very helpful and said that she would be around the day of my wedding to help with any needs I may have. I let her know that we would need one tall cocktail table for the DJ equipment. Sarah, the Administrative Assistant, followed up with me in an email about my need and I just confirmed that I would need this one table. The week of the wedding came and they realized they didn't have me sign the contract for the wedding. I reviewed the contract and signed it. A smoking section was mentioned and I asked where it was located - Sarah responded in email that the smoking area was the gazebo. All was set for the wedding day. On the wedding day, I arrived at 2:30. My allotted time was 3-8 but I had verbal permission from the owner to arrive at 2:30 to begin setting up. We were not greeted by or have any staff present to help with a need we may have had as Breanna had told me at my second walkthrough. At 2:51, I arrived at the bridal suite where I heard others upstairs. Understanding I had the facility at 3:00, I announced my arrival and the hairstylist upstairs said she was doing bridal hair for a bridal portrait and asked me to give them 30 minutes. I proceeded to take our stuff upstairs with their permission. There was no urgency on their part and I never gained access to the bridal makeup counter or area until after 3:30 and my wedding was at 4:00. My mom had to change in the bathroom as did others. We used the small rectangle table to the right of the stairs. Our photos were not clean because of all the clutter with limited space sharing with another bride. We rushed to get ready in 15 minutes ... to include dressing myself, my mom and a jr. bridesmaid (hair included.) Unknowingly to me, my husband and his father entered the groom's quarters and found a huge mess in the facility. My husband had to spend time gathering all the trash in the room from the wedding the night before and pile it up against the wall before photos could be taken with his dad. As mentioned above, the DJ needed one tall table that was requested more than a week prior to the wedding. I emailed Sarah at 3:14 the day of the wedding requesting this table. It showed up minutes before the wedding started and the DJ had already found something upstairs to accommodate the immediate need. After the wedding, the family proceeded to the gazebo to have photos taken where we had to clean up cigars and beer cans sitting on the bench. At 6:30, a guy came to empty trash cans. I mentioned the gazebo to him because I didn't want to be charged for someone else's trash, and he informed me there was a large wedding the night before. This guy was not aware we had the venue till 8:00; however, we cleaned up our mess and were gone by 7:30. On Monday, November 8, I emailed Sarah and Ren regarding the above concerns. To summarize Sarah's email response, it was all a miscommunication and I only had access to the barn, 10 tables and 100 chairs. She says the bridal suite, groom's quarters and gazebo were not included in the hourly rental - but I have the emails that prove differently from the owner. When I asked Sarah about the smoking section at the time of signing the bridal contract, she provided the gazebo location to me and said nothing of it not being available for my hourly rental. In closing, I sent emails that supported my rental and what it included, a copy of the invoice that was $50 more than I was quoted and also the picture of the trash that had to be cleaned up by my husband. I asked Sarah and Ren for a refund of the extra $50 I paid without argument and have received no response back. I signed a full bridal contract that had nothing to do with my hourly rental. Thanks to friends and family, I had a very beautiful wedding. As I told Ren and Sarah I would do, I recommend this barn for a wedding but proceed with caution that whether verbal or written correspondence from them, the miscommunication is among them and they did not, in my situation, stand by their word in all areas.

I had my wedding at the forevermore farm stables on April 15, 2023. Other than the beautiful venue…read moreitself, we had just about everything not go our way with this business. Overall, none of the staff at the venue communicated about our wedding day details. We met multiple times with Sarah, but up until the day of the wedding there were always question marks with everything. I ended up being extremely stressed and bothered on MY day. 1. There was no AC in the bridal suite while me and the girls were getting ready. which the maintence guy said "has been giving them issues". Shouldn't this be fixed for your customers, especially the bride? It got so hot that he recommended we MOVE to the barn bridal suite (the other venue in the property). So my bridesmaids and I loaded everything up to go DRIVE to the other suite so that we didn't completely melt our make up. None of the staff were concerned with this. Total inconvenience as I had to drive back to the original venue in my own car IN my wedding dress to get to the wedding...yikes. 2. We rented the honeymoon cabin for the night of the wedding. We spoke with Sarah about it being clean by the time we got there after the wedding. My bridesmaids and I stayed at the cabin Friday night so it needed to be cleaned for my husband and I.....She told us no problem and that it would be taken care of AND made "honeymoon like".....at 11 pm the night of the wedding my husband and I arrive to the cabin. It was NOT cleaned whatsoever and definitely not "honeymoon like". No clean sheets, no toilet paper, no clean towels, nothing romantic. I had to wash my own towels on my wedding night so we could shower. Miserable for a newly married couple. We did receive a refund for these nights, but on May 30th. We had to contact the farm multiple times and were spoken to very rudely by the owner, Ren. It was clearly an inconvenience for her. We were not impressed. 3.I do not recommend paying for a wedding director with forevermore. You are better off getting your own. The one we paid for did nothing but stress me out the day of my wedding. She let things get off schedule, constantly worried me with questions and concerns, let the DJ control everything, and was still confused about certain things we had gone over multiple times in wedding meetings. Not structured or organized at all. I was constantly bothered with issues that arose. 4.We also spoke with Sarah about using the farms "exit truck". It is an old pick up truck that we were told we could use to do a fake exit and that we could drive the truck. Turns out, Dylan (maintence guy) drove us during the exit? No one told us this? The night of, my mom and dad had to find Dylan (maintence guy) to get him to start the truck instead of him being ready for the exit. Dylan was no where to be found. It was insanely disorganized and took so long to begin that my photographer left. I never got photos of the exit. 5.There were also multiple decor items placed in wrong places. Prior to the wedding, we spoke with Sarah and Katelyn about where I wanted certain things. On the wedding day, I noticed the barrels I wanted in front of the barn were moved to an inside location? 6.We paid for the alcohol package with forevermore farms. On the wedding day, one of the beers we chose was not at the venue along with the other beers. I texted Sarah (on my day) because I noticed it was missing. She said Dylan would get it from the store and not to worry. Come to find out, it wasn't even the right beer. I made a sign that advertised it as a light beer and ended up the beer was the regular version, not the light. All in all, although my wedding was a dream and was truly about my husband and I getting married, it is disappointing that this venue let us down in all other areas. I would not recommend them unless you want lots of problems to arise. There is no communication between staff here. Nobody knows what's going on with your wedding. Heather (florals) was the most helpful for us with everything. It's unfortunate this happened...so think carefully before you book with them
