Lately I have been finding myself taking advantage of the free performances held in the library's theater and I just recently finished a free class that I began in January. They also have ticketed performances offered through out the year. The theater is large and holds approximately 284 people. It also has two accessible seating locations for wheelchairs. The acoustics are very good and have enjoyed several performances here through the years and more recently. Finding out about these performances has really made life fun lately and I have been asking friends to join me as well. This month I have been attending performances for Black History Month and the talent has been exceptional. I feel lucky to have this library so close to me and my neighborhood. read more

I got email saying my tickets are ready for pickup so I went over there but no one was at the front desk, I was waiting and she come with this lady and I say to her a quick question is this the area where I have to pick up my ticket? Well I got email the my tickets are ready for pickup and she say look behind you look your name and last name, so I'm looking I see all books, cds covers, etc... and She said very rude She was before than you. At the moment I feel she doesn't want to work there, raising her voice just for a simple question. I say myself if she is not happy working there, why is she still there??? What a beautiful library! I think I have been here once or twice years ago when I was a resident, but now only come once a year to see my niece perform in The Nutcracker. She was one of the leads this year! The theatre is absolutely beautiful and very welcoming. There was an issue with tickets being double sold due to switching ticketing companies between performances but my nephew who handled seating during the event handled it like a true professional, and he's only 14! Very proud uncle over here, as you can tell. :) Anyway, visit this library if you live in the area and even if you do not. When I visited to use the library I was very pleased with its organization and cleanliness. It is very peaceful. Nothing but kudos from me! read more

I love this library. I have been visiting the Summerlin Library since I was a child and it is always a fantastic experience. The staff is very accommodating, courteous, kind and helpful! As with any Clark county library you have the option to order books online to be put on hold for pick up at any location and this one is by far the most convenient. Speaking of convenience I LOVE that they are the only library in town that has a check out computer in the CHILDRENS section! So easy. Story time here is a blast and it's usually a packed house! The toy selection is great and my children always have a great time at the library. Been meaning to see one of the live performances they hold in their auditorium but haven't yet. I've heard nothing but good things! read more

What an absolutely lovely, clean, and modern library. Madison is phenomenal! She got me set up with my library card in a quick, friendly manner and was extremely accommodating. For those that are non-residents/visitors- you can get a free library card. Just need to produce your ID. Non-residents with a library card are allowed to take advantage of the many features of this library, and this library has it all! Magazines, books, DVDs, a small art gallery, bookstore, conference and study rooms, weekly free events and programs, fax, printing, copying and scanning services, and a community theater to name a few. I took advantage of the library's computers and document printing. Just loaded a money amount on my library card with Madison at guest services, logged in to the computer with my library card, retrieved my document to print and sent it to the printer. Black and white prints are 10 cents per page. This is by far my favorite library in the area. Easy to navigate, numerous offerings, clean, and friendly and helpful staff. Keep up the great work Summerlin Library! I'm looking forward to visiting again. read more

Yikes! This place was designed by a madman, hallways are small leading to the open area and it feels claustrophobic inside. Security guard is amped up and ready and when I visited, before it was open he tracked me down and then asked "where the employee entrance is" if that doesn't sound odd to you enjoy this Library. Don't use it much but not much thought was put in for your tech, everyone is packed together in one room staring at each other. read more

This little review pertains to the "Gallery" space inside the Summerlin Library, for I will always sign loudly about free, public art to the masses. It was because of the very hip, edgy write-up in the Las Vegas Weekly regarding the cool installation of "Two or 3 Things I Know About Abstraction" that led me to the library to begin with.... exactly one day past the art installation's closing date. So I missed it! BUMMER! But upon arrival and being so kindly welcomed by the staff and security guard standing right there, the sting that I was a day late and had missed it was less so. They sensed my general disappointment and spoke with a "never fear, art is here!" attitude to tell me there was a new, bright Bruce Hecksel installation in the gallery now. So always wanting to absorb, engage, view, interact with free public art at any possibly chance, I wandered across the small library lobby to the small gallery space. By art standards, the choice of my word "small" might be overindulging a bit. For the Bruce Hecksel works on display, the space maybe fits 20 paintings. And indeed my trip to the library was not a total loss, for searching out and absorbing the guitars in "Landscape of Guitar" (up until May 16, 2021) was colorful, fun and brightened my mood. There is also a bench there if you wish to sit and meditate in the beauty of free pubic art. But more importantly, this visit that took all but 20 minutes, reminds me of how lucky this little local library is to have space for art at all. Now I know many libraries do, but I found myself being grateful for this space, regardless of the exhibition hanging on the wall. Maybe next time, I might even wander into the library and check out a book or attend something in the performing arts center, but my soul left smiling this day by a few kind staff members and a tiny space called simply "Gallery." read more

Not quite a 5-stars for the library, but the area is very good in this safe Summerlin neighborhood. Everyone is helpful and resourceful. Plenty of parking. Art gallery displays keep me coming back. Small room area. Discounted bookstore was much smaller than expected. It's a bit too narrow inside the one tiny room bookstore. Security is on guard. Children's section looks huge and it's definitely a great place to bring kids along. Adult section was quiet with lots of bookshelves and aisles, but honestly, they don't have a whole lot of study rooms or computer rooms here. Good staffing. Lights inside weren't as bright in most areas. It still feels like an old library. Restroom hallway was narrow. I think Summerlin can do much better for libraries if the district really wants to. Colorful directions markings and arrows were helpful for visitors. Very organized. You won't find much huge or bright windows here due to the design of the building. Not far from a U.S. Post Office building. Summerlin Library looks convenient. I will revisit when they have performing art events and exhibitions. If only the narrow spaces inside can be widened. They should redesign the interior, so there's more space to walk around. read more

2018 Yelp 100 Challenge - #99 Wow! What an amazing space. It's literally a library & performing arts center. I was invited to come here by a student of mine to see their holiday performance. I was a little unsure of what to expect but the library is completely separate for the performing arts space. Upon entering, there was a photo area related to the show which was super cute. There was a little snack station that severed before and intermission snacks. They offered chips, nuts, water, and candy. After our tickets were checked we were directed to our seats and they were clearly marked. The performance space is nothing compare to The Smith center, but it is a unique community space. My husband and I enjoyed our play and I will defiantly be returning to watch a another local group perform. I love that everyone respected the space and that everyone was so professional. I had the best time here. read more

First time visiting this library. I was looking for tutors to help my granddaughter, but this library doesn't have any . Most of the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. It's a very nice library with areas set up for little ones to play. I remember when my kids were little you were suppose to be very quiet in a library, it was surprising that you don't have to anymore or at least not at this library you don't have to. read more

One of the best libraries in town, and specifically because of how cool their kids section is. It's a little bit of a smaller library, but the kids and young adult/teens section is so cool! They make it super kid friendly and fun! This library is also one of the cleanest ones too, so that's nice! The books are usually all in the right place and everything is properly labeled. The bathrooms are clean too! The only thing I would say is because of how small the library is, and it's location in town, their variety of books isn't as large as other libraries, but of course you can always request to put a book on hold if you need to, and then pick it up. read more

So incredibly disappointing - I saw a couple of weeks ago that Susan Anton was going to be in a Christmas show at this location. I was very interested in attending so I checked interested and going on their Facebook event page. I am attaching what they posted regarding the event to this review. I invited my parents and my brother was in town so he was interested in attending as well. We met at the library and I was happy to see a nice turnout in the parking lot. We had to park way down the road. When we got inside there were two lines of people and some woman stating you have to be on the list or have a wristband for the event. Needless to say we didn't have either and people weren't the friendliest or most patient when requesting assistance. I'm unable to catch Sunday's show at the Clark County library - I don't think Summerlin Library handled the show appropriately! Very disappointed! read more

I go to the Summerlin Library for performances in the theatre. It holds about 300 people and is a perfect size for the community productions staged there. The first play I saw when I moved to Las Vegas was at the library theatre. Acoustics are good and there is even a small pit for the band when a musical has live music. I went tonight to see Signature Productions "Sound of Music." As usual, they did a fine job and took advantage of all the things that make this theatre a great house. read more

This review is solely for the Performing Arts Center, not the library. If I had to review the last performance I saw, this wouldn't be a five star review. But I'm writing about the venue, and I've seen some pretty great and very professional shows here. It's an attractive, modern theater with very comfortable seats, and I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. The most recent show was free, and wasn't one I found interesting; I went only because I was invited to join friends who don't miss anything Vegas has to offer, even to the opening of a manhole cover :). But past performances that required purchased tickets were on a par with professional productions at major venues, and in an intimate and tranquil space. I look forward to seeing more shows here, especially West Side Story in, I think, October. read more

Can I just say what a beautiful area this library is at. Nice landscape, art & shady trees. If you have a young kid in your life, mark this location as a trip to take. The children's section of the library is amazing. The books are so organized and in easy categories to locate. Right now they have model airplanes floating above your head, makes me want to build one (back to my childhood). While I'm on the internet on my iPhone my grandson plays on the computer inches away from me which is a must for me where safety is concerned. Anytime I have asked the library assistance for help for my grandson to play the computers, they were patient and helped out. While my grandson was playing legos 2 little sisters were creating a puppet play with the puppets and stage they provide. I was experiencing a library book in reality. read more

I am lucky this library is less than 6 miles away from my house. I come here often because the building is beautiful, it's usually quiet, the location is great and plenty of parking spaces. The library is very organized and easy to find books. There is a small art gallery and a performing show theater as well as study rooms. In addition, plenty of computer stations to work at if you need one and they have free Wi-Fi. The staff here is helpful and friendly. There is a board filled with some good technical, informative, and creative workshop programs at no cost. If you want to know if they have a book check it online at home first, and if they don't have it, request it be sent there so you can pick it up in a few days. The only downside is there are no windows. read more

A standard small city library in a big new building. "It's not for usin' ... it's for lookin' at!" The performing arts center seems to be way more the focus here than the library. Located in the Trails Village Center, Summerlin's answer to the Labyrinth of Crete. Except instead of a minotaur it's some lemon-faced lady in a BMW X3 running you over in a crosswalk when you have right-of-way. OK, so the good things first. I like that it's split in half with kids on their own side. And I guess the labyrinth keeps the homebums out. Most of the effort went into the kids side, though. Only a few tables and old creaky chairs on the adult side, and almost no power outlets. I guess it'll do in a pinch but the one on W. Sahara is way bigger and better. read more

My daughter and I love this library. There is a spirit and enthusiasm among staff I don't find at the other libraries. We moved from Orange County, where performing arts is a classy thing. Imagine our shock at how classy it is in Las Vegas as well. It's easy to think I'm referring to The Smith Center; but I'm not. It's right here in Summerlin City. Best theater productions I've seen of late are Kinekt - an independent performance by Cirque de Soleil performers who apparently have extra energy to burn (and especially the creative POWER of Briana Bowie and Noah Bremer, who wrote/directed) and Nutcracker by the Las Vegas Ballet Company -- whoa can THOSE KIDS DANCE! Theater and art is thriving in Summerlin City, and it cuz we got a library with a performing arts center and a can do person to make it happen (by the name of Diondra). read more

One of my favorite libraries in town! When you walk inside if you continue to the right it'll take you past an art gallery and straight to the fiction/non-fiction section. They have a wide variety of books and a decent language learning section located inside the media section. They do have a few study rooms in this section, but honestly this place is so quiet that you can grab a seat or table anywhere and work peacefully. Plenty of computer stations to work at if you need one and they have free Wi-Fi too. Left side of the library is the children's section and also a cozy little corner for the young adult's book area. Staff here is super helpful and friendly. If this library doesn't have a book you need/want, you can request to have it delivered to the Summerlin Library from a different library within their network and ta-dah...within a couple of days it'll be ready for you to pick up at the Summerlin Library. This library also hosts a wide variety of family friendly performances, but I've never gotten the chance to check it out. Regardless, come here for all your bookish wants and needs! read more

I use to pick up a close friend's kid and we use to come here for a couple of reasons. 1) She could work on her reading and get some homework done. 2) Since she's keeping herself busy and we're in the kid's area, I didn't have to do much monitoring. 3) I could get some work done at the same time. I almost forgot about this library since I usually go to Centennial's or the one off Sahara. I'm a fan of any library where it's quiet enough to get some work done. If you read any of my previous library reviews, I frequent libraries just to get out of the office. I have a few offices here and one at home, but there are times when I get the most done in a library. I think it's more due to less distractions at a library. One thing about this library is that it feels and looks older than the others in town. Parking is ample and there's plenty of tables inside to get some work done. The staff doesn't say much or even bothers you. But I must admit, there was a couple of times that I have been warned for phone use. Summerlin Library may not be my favorite in Las Vegas, but I may still pay a visit if I'm in the area. This library worked perfect today when I had a couple of hours to kill. PS: I should gain IQ points just for going to the library. By the way, what ever happened to the good ol' trusty card catalogs? read more

I have been going to this library since they opened when I was a child. I appreciate the performing arts center there and what it has brought to and done for the community. I've performed many times on that stage myself. I also love now being able to bring my own daughter there. I appreciate the diversity of books on display in the children's section and the safe space for children of all genders, races, sexualities and what not to come. Thank you for helping to groom my child into an accepting, tolerant, kind human who cares about her community and fellow humans. We look forward to many more great memories. read more

This is such a welcoming library! There is a fun kids section full of books being beautifully displayed for eager little hands to grab! Watching my sons eyes light up at the never ending shelves of books is so magical for a mom to see! They have high tech check-out and return systems making it quick and easy from both ends. They provide a paper receipt with the return dates. There is even a security guard at the entrance and metal detectors upon entering so you know you are safe. read more

This review is solely for the Children's section of the library as I have yet to venture into other parts of the library. I have been to a number of libraries in the Las Vegas area, and this is my favorite. The storytime for children is wonderful! Only 30 minutes long and different age groups offered. I take my 2.5 year old to the Toddler Storytime and Miss Jamie is awesome. They alternate songs and dance with the stories, keeping the kids entertained and focused. There is also a nice section of puzzles and kid-sized tables for them to "quietly" play. Although, after storytime, it is quite crowded with boisterous children. The library is clean, doesn't smell musty like older libraries, and filled with so much light. After storytime and borrowing our books for the week, we always grab lunch across the street, then head off to one of the local parks to further release the toddler's energy. read more
