I love the gorgeous nulla ... like seriously love, so when it was suggested to have dinner somewhere different I was all in - no more bets.
Ding ding ding ... Cronulla has hit the jackpot !!! Talk about showcasing the best the Shire has to offer - this restaurant is right on Elouera Beach (between North Cronulla and Wanda beaches) with a view to boot - I can't even!! It's right next to the Surf Life Saving Club but has a separate entrance and what an entrance. Its hard to find the words to describe how light and fresh this place feels but here goes ... from the front desk, you can't see much of the restaurant given it's hiding behind some translucent curtains but behold what welcomes you on the flip side - sand, sea and sky to last you a lifetime .. its such a top gun moment - it really does take your breath away!!
We were seated in the middle of the restaurant (which is perfectly fine) and barely 2 mins in, we were asked if we wanted to sit up against the window - whaaaat? Ohh I get it, its candid camera innit?? To our delight it wasn't and off we were on our way to one unforgettable night.
I'll get straight to it - the food here is celestial !! Yes CELESTIAL - absolutely divine. We started with the peri peri bbq quail, mignonette syd rock oysters and iceberg lettuce and radish salad to share between the 3 of us - bang on! I'm such a tart for quail and this was an incredible dish - highly recommend. For mains, we ordered the fennel crusted ocean trout with artichoke puree x 2 and the lamb backstrap entree in a main size. I can only speak of the ocean trout and it had the right amount of crunch and creaminess to it - I mean this totally gives Tetsuyas signature dish a worthy competitor. Despite wanting desperately to order dessert, I refrained however a friend ordered the strawberry souffle ... a souffle that was sky high and apparently AH-MAZING. So the food here is great yeah, but what about the staff? They're a great level of 'attentive", not in your face OTT, not missing for days. The young girl we had could have done with a little training in customer service (a little .. I'm not totally writing her off but there were moments she scared the hell out of us, sneaking up and rather loudly asking 'want another drink?')
Word of warning - careful with that radish. Radish turns ... ohh it turns bad. Don't eat when its been sitting around all night - I won't describe how bad it tastes cause I'm afraid its highly inappropriate to say it here, just don't do it HA. read more
