Summerhouse Indoor Heated Pool and Hot Tub
    Hope R.

Read the review on July 2015 and this person must be confused with another property cause Summerhouse is in the Heart of Orange Beach so it doesn't take long at all to get to places. In fact, you can walk to several restaurants, grocery store, many unique gift shops and souvenir places, the bank, doctor office, and a mailing store is even close by. I enjoyed my stay here with my family and come to this property quite often just because of the convenient location and how nice the amenities are throughout the grounds. They have more amenities across the street too! The main association office is across from Summerhouse along with a nice size tennis court, basketball court, and racquetball. There is even a parking lot that is locked at night to store your boat trailer or RV. Other amenities are the indoor pool and huge hot tub, the large outdoor pool was clean and had plenty of seats for everyone. There is a playground, steam room, and a fitness room too. We stayed in 701A which is a corner unit and enjoyed the entire trip! Just across the street is SurfStyle and they have a Splash Park with a snow cone and slushi bar. Kids Loved it! Condo was well stocked with everything we needed and loved the corner unit with the huge wrap around balcony. Will be back each year!

The staff were all helpful and friendly. There was someone playing live music at certain times of the day. The room was clean and had a simple but nice setup. The shower had great water temperature and pressure. We had an ocean view room which was worth the extra cost. Waking up to the beach every morning was so satisfying. Reading on the balcony while listen to the ocean sounds and watching the waves was everything that I needed. The hotel has beach towels that are easily checked out through a machine. Beach chair and umbrellas are available first come first serve to hotel guests which is very convenient. There was a heated outdoor pool, a volleyball net and a few games inside. We ate all of our meals at the hotel. We ate at the grab and go food spot. I ordered the feta and spinach croissant, a chocolate chip scone and a cappuccino. We also ate dinner at the latitude 30. I ordered a ceasar salad and calamari. For breakfast at latitude 30, I ordered the French toast dish that comes bacon and I ordered a side of eggs. We also ate at the fine dining restaurant onsite where I ordered the seared scallops dish and the vanilla crème brûlée. All of the meals that we ate at the hotel were very tasty. The restaurant staff were all kind and the utensils were spotless. I believe food may have also been served at the bar near the pool, but I didn't try any food from there during my visit. I really had an enjoyable time at this hotel and I plan to return in the future.

Live music every day by the pool was awesome! And talented performers! The beach itself is right behind the resort and has the softest sand. Wanted was rough but we were still able to get in a slash around and jump some waves. The property was recently purchased by new owners after being owned by sand owner who opened it in 1987, which is impressive. Mervin in the restaurant was kind and friendly and been there 12 years. Glinda in the restaurant was the SWEETEST lady there. She maker the omelettes. (Get the omelettes!! Yum!) John and Greg are great pool side bar tenders. The gentleman at the lobby bar was also friendly and attentive, we didn't catch his name. The list of things we wished were different is short. Could have used speakers playing music during the times at the pool when there wasn't live music. Wait times in the restaurant were long. (Food was hit or miss...not horrible but mostly unremarkable... However the spinach dip at the casual restaurant is off the charts and the wagyu steak at Voyagers is incredible!!) We cannot say enough about the marvelous staff. We will definitely be back! We wish them luck in this transition.

The main complaints were that it involved too much walking (from the parking lot, to the room, etc). Unless you are significantly disabled and if so, I have no idea how you get around in the world, it's really not much walking at all. If you think this is too much walking, never live in NYC you will not survive. If the issue is walking from the parking lot, do valet and you don't have to walk from the parking lot. If the issue is walking from the main building, you have to walk MAYBE 1/3-1/2 of a football field to the building where the rooms are. It's such a nothingburger it's like a joke. If anyone thinks that is a lot of walking, they probably need to call Dr. Now. Another issue I saw in a review is that it is hard to find. It isn't. Like, at all. There is a sign and you can see it from the road. I hope that person is ok they might need to get their eyes checked. Now that I'm done talking shit, let's talk about the good things. Everyone is very nice and helpful. The views are stunning and from everywhere. From the main check in lodge, from the pool, from the beach front view rooms, from the restaurants. We had a balcony and it was just water/beach/gulf views. It was legit comparable to resorts we stayed in in Cancun and Seminyak, Bali. The water wasn't quite as "blue/turquoise" but not much The Lodge can do about that. The room is very spacious. The bathroom is lovely. The shower was wonderful. The bed was super comfortable and soft. The AC worked very well. There were a bunch of outlets on my side but less on the other side (however there were outlets on both sides). The restaurants had, as I said above, excellent views. They also has wonderful staff and very tasty food. They could have done better with the vegetarian options. The bread was probably the best part and was some of the best bread and whipped butter I have ever had. They do that shit where they text you and ask if you need anything, which is very helpful especially for us millennials. GF asked me to request an extra blanket, which I did. The response time was great, it was super fast. They told me they would send one up but never did, which was a bummer. Another piece of feedback, shortly after 8:30am, we had a knock at the door. GF was in the bathroom and I was getting dressed. They knocked again. I, half dressed, opened the door. It was housekeeping asking if we were checking out. Uh....yeah, we are.. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. What if we wanted to sleep in? What if I was out and GF was on the toilet? What if someone was getting out of the shower? It just feels like an invasion of privacy. It just seems wild that housekeeping felt like bothering us to find out if we were checking out. I would definitely stay here again if I returned but I would put the "do not disturb" sign up

It was at the end of the hall, so it was very spacious. It had a small microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, and a safe. Room was clean, bathroom was nice, WiFi was sketchy (more on that in a sec), and pillows were flat as pancakes but that's literally every hotel we've ever stayed in, so no points deducted for that. The only complaint is that the maintenance guys (internet guys?) unexpectedly came in two times (once on Thursday & once on Friday) to work on our room WiFi. We had been having trouble with it, but had not filed a repair request. Apparently, they were changing the boxes out in every room so every time our WiFi dropped it was because we were unknowingly connected to surrounding rooms' WiFi since ours didn't work and as they were taken offline, we saw it as it happened. It's good that they were changing out the boxes but we didn't understand why the front desk didn't give us a heads up. After all, they had texted me twice, once with the welcome text and again with a follow up text. A simple FYI would've been appreciated. Other than that non-communication, everything else was great. Beautiful view of the gulf, with beach access and a heated pool. Good, central location between Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores, & Pensacola and front desk employees were professional. I would recommend!

You can find restaurants, shops, and entertainment at The Wharf. The dolphin and fishing tours go out of the marina right next door. You are about 15 minutes from the beach. Rooms & Building - Rooms are suites so there is plenty of room to spread out. We liked the big bathrooms and living space and had a balcony that overlooked the river and pool area. The building is well manicured with palm trees and flowers and modern looking. Amenities - The pool was very nice and big, lots of room for everyone. Plenty of chairs made it easy to find during the high times of sunlight. There is a hot tub onsite as well (always a plus in my book). Food - Their is a restaurant onsite that we did not try but the complimentary breakfast was pretty good. Every day there was a different kind of breakfast sandwich or specialty item. There was an oatmeal bar that my kids thought was fun. We enjoyed the breakfast, it was filling and high quality. Staff - Everyone we met was professional and friendly. Price & Final Verdict - Price was great for everything we experienced while staying here. I would stay here again.
