I love to make my own protein shakes at home, but this place does it better. They only use water, ice and powders but somehow it comes out sooo creamy and thick, just like I like it. Packed with protein and has minimal sugars so #winning all around. My first visit I opted for the pumpkin cinnamon roll flavor, because fall, and it was divine! So satiating too which is great as they're meant to be meal replacements. On my second visit, the owner Katy (who is the sweetest), explained how great it is to get a shake and a tea for the purpose of the tea ingredients helping the body absorb the nutrients from the shake. She clearly put a lot of thought into creating this business and intention in all of the products. This is totally my wheelhouse so the combo made so much sense to me. I went for it and got the heath flavored shake and the mandarin-lemon tea. Sounds like a weird combo, but I first drank one then the next so it worked nicely. Big fan of the aloe in the teas, as it supports digestion as well. All in all, this place great! Beyond the tasty offerings, the cafe is cozy, clean, and welcoming. The entrance is tucked down off the sidewalk of Kilbourn, so don't miss it!

We wandered into Planet Smoothie's quaint shop and were greeted by the kindest staff. Right away, we were offered samples of a smoothie that was just made, which happened to be the carribean citrus splash. This was so yummy and refreshing! It's made up of coconut water, strawberries, orange juice, mango, and lemon. It's on their 'planet lite' menu, meaning its under 300 calories. I was tempted to get this one because it was so good, but I wanted a drink that would be a little more filling. I decided on the Mr. Mongo -- strawberries, bananas, frozen yogurt, milk, vanilla, and whey protein. With 17 grams of protein, it was the perfect filling drink to hold me over until dinner and give me a nice boost of energy. The drink itself was so creamy and perfectly sweet. The small is the perfect size too! I didn't make any substitutes, but the team was more than willing to make any swaps requested. The smoothies are great, but the pleasant and friendly staff made the experience even better.

Bliss Bowls is a cute shop with a lot of options for toppings. Their signature bowls are varied and they have blue spirulina as a base swap and various other toppings if plain acai isn't your thing. I ordered the peanut butter bowl and I thought the prices weren't terrible considering it is an açaí shop, but they weren't great either given the amount of açaí in the bowl and the overall flavor profile. They serve it soft serve style which means it comes in the typical soft serve 'cone' shape which leaves a bit of room in the container after accounting for air bubbles and shaking it in place. The presentation of it is cute and super picture worthy. The açaí itself tasted a bit bland and had a little bit of a chalky texture from the ice crystals, which means they probably don't use fillers or added sweeteners, but it also seemed a little bit too diluted in taste. I thought the honey in the peanut butter bowl would've added some natural sweetness but it didn't really do much. I appreciate that they offer natural peanut butter (just unsalted peanuts) as a topping but the peanut butter was a bit dry and hard to mix into the açaí bowl. I ended up eating most of it in a few spoonfuls without even trying to. Overall, I appreciate Bliss Bowls being in OC, but I can't say I will be buying açaí from here very often.
