Very unassuming restaurant in a not so glamorous shopping strip has amazing flavors. It was some of the best Mediterranean food I've tastes. They didn't cut corners with the spices. Drinks and desserts were delicious too. Friendly and helpful service. Clean Restaurant. Reasonably priced and great value for the money. I'll definitely be back. read more

Sumac Mediterranean Grill - A bowl with saffron rice and salad topped with falafel, beef/lamb gyro meat, pickled onions, banana peppers, olives, and feta. - Mediterranean Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

If I could give Sumac six stars, I would. Everything on our visit was amazing. The two gentlemen running the place are friendly, engaging, and helpful. They made great recommendations as we looked through the different menu options. Sumac is a Chipotle-style halal Mediterranean restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious, and their fries may just be my most favorite fries in Columbus. The portions are also huge. I am already thinking about my next visit here. read more

Absolutely delicious! Had to go see what a place with that many 5 star ratings was all about. And after trying it, i cannot precisely say why I agree other than it was fresh, delicious, perfectly seasoned, great value for the $. I live in the neighborhood and will definitely be back! read more

Plenty of parking, clean place with plenty of seatings-food was fresh and flavorful. What can I want more? The rice was slightly salty (in a positive way) and fluffy, metas were tender (I got half chicken and beef/lamb gyro) and all the veggies were fresh. I got tzatziki sauce on the side in a small cup but I wanted to lick it, it was so good! The staff is super friendly and helpful. I would absolutely go back again! read more

Everything was phenomenal! Greeted when we walked in, all food super fresh, large size portions. One of, if not the best Mediterranean places in the city. Can't wait to go back! read more

All I knew was that they had chicken shawarma on the menu. It's in walking distance, so I had to go. It's kind of "build your own" (bowl, pita, salad). I chose the bowl, because I wanted the rice. Then I loaded with ALL the veggies, and hummus, and garlicky sauce, and tahini, and hot sauce. It hit all the marks for me. They're fast, friendly, and it's a small joint with a handful of tables. They're just off Hard and Smoky Row and totally worth the visit! read more

Sumac Mediterranean Grill - FULLY LOADED. Rice. Chicken Shwarma. All the veggies. Hummus. Tzatziki. Garlic sauce. Hot sauce. So much flavor. So good. - Mediterranean Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Your suppose to get tired of eating a certain cuisine over a long period of time. If that is the case than why do I never get tired of eating Greek food? I'm not Greek! Searching YELP for a restaurant serving my favorite Greek entree "A Greek Salad", I came across SUMAC. Sumac offers a "Build your own" salad $12.95, featuring either rice, pita bread, green salad, hummus or fries as a base. I considered a "Build your own salad" than quickly changed my mind to a "GREEK SALAD" $9.85. The toppings were fresh and oh, how I loves those olives and fetta cheese. I ordered some pistachio baklava $2.95 and a coke classic. Some things, I just don't tire of but I have to say, I have had better pistachio baklava. There is no waitering option here. Order at the counter and pick up at the counter. The counter people are friendly and patient with customers but they speak loudly (yell) at each other. read more

Came here to catch up with a friend. Was greeted with a nice smile upon entering. We expressed it was our first time here at Sumac. The Mediterranean build your own was very clean and empty upon entering. My friend opted for a half hummus half rice base with chicken shawarma and other toppings. He let me try his and it was very good with the spicy sauce he had on top of his tzatziki. The chicken shawarma and the beef lamb gyro meat was so tender and well seasoned. The vegetables and toppings were all so fresh and bright in color. I got some crispy and well seasoned fries for my base and they are such good fries just on their own and cooked to order. Topped With cucumbers, tomatoes, banana peppers, pickled cabbage and pickled onions with a tzatziki sauce, spicy feta and regular feta sprinkled on top. An Absolute Flavor Explosion. Plenty of patrons came and went while we was dining in. There was a couple that yelled "Best gyros in town!" on their way out the door from dining in as well. I'll have to come try those too! For price and portion I think this Mediterranean cuisine is completely worth the try and is added to my rotation in restaurants. Can't wait to come back. read more

Stopped in for a quick late bite just before closing. I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of fresh veggies and flavorful toppings. Sumac Mediterranean Grill - Falafel bowl - generous serving, ate it for two meals! - Mediterranean Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Friendly and efficient service and a delicious entree! What more could you ask for? I ordered the "Build Your Own" Bowl with hummus base and beef & lamb meat. The serving was generous; I took home leftovers for lunch the next day. They offered a nice selection of toppings (all of which looked fresh and appetizing) and sauces. Everything tasted good and my friend and I both enjoyed our meals. Bonus: I got a warm pita on the side which I wasn't expecting - maybe because I ordered my bowl on a hummus base? Anyway, will definitely recommend it and go back. read more

Sumac Mediterranean Grill - Build Your Own Bowl with Beef & Lamb Gyro meat - Mediterranean Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Sumac is a delicious twist on the build-your-own concept! I ordered the gyro bowl on rice with sumac onions, cucumber, pickles, olives, and all of the sauces--even tho the grill was filled with chicken and it smelled so good. I just had my heart set on gyro. It was yummy, and generous, and we'll be back. I even texted a friend who lives nearby to make sure she knew she had to come through. It was quiet and had strong neighborhood vibes as people came in and knew the folks working. We're going to be back. read more

You have to try this place! I took my family in based off of reviews alone. It's in a little strip mall- don't let that turn you off. Everything inside if FRESH. We had falafel, chicken shawarma, and gyro. The pitas and all of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. We will absolutely be back. I wish we had taken pictures. The portions are great and prices are good. The guys working were very helpful. Don't sleep on this place, you'll thank me later! read more

The food is outstanding. I never eat out, but with my power out for 3 days, I had no choice. The first couple places were not great, then I found this gem. My power is back in but I've picked up to go 3 times this week. It's that good. The service is consistently great too. They greet you with a warmth as if you walked into their living room. Sumac Mediterranean Grill - Rice bowl with Gyro (lamb & beef mix) - Mediterranean Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

It's my GOTO for Mediterranean food after moving to Columbus from Chicago. This is the 3rd restaurant that I've frequented from the same owner, and the quality is top rated. Too often Columbus has 'chain restaurant' mentality which drives me nuts. This restaurant flys bucks the local trend and delivers with major value. In fact, I'm getting in my car and driving there now as writing this is making me hungry. read more

I was unsure about this type of food but I wanted to expand my palette. I explained my allergies to 'Mo. he was very patient and encouraging pointing out this and that and telling me what was in each item. Sooo good. Run don't walk if you are in the mood for some Mediterranen Grill style food. It's a build your own bowl (rice, salad, hummu, pita, fries) kind of place. While I thought the price was a bit high at 12.95 base, the portion size was good and the 5 stars is definitely for the flavor. Fresh ingredients, bright flavors. Excellent meal. read more

Delicious food. Great portions. Everything was fresh. Service was great and very friendly.

Delicious food, super clean restaurant, and quick to get your food! Overall this is one of the best Mediterranean meals I've had!

Fantastic quality all around. I got a hummus bowl with chicken Schwarma and just about all of the toppings. The hummus was so smoothly creamy and whipped making for a beautiful base, and the chicken was smoky and more deeply flavored with paprika and spices than I would have expected. Pita also comes with the bowl for excellent dipping. While the food was great, the friendliness of the staff and efficiency of the operation is really what earned this five stars for me. Far outdoes Pitabilities! read more
