We just visited for the first time tonight. Everyone was super nice and the food was absolutely delicious! I told my husband "we WILL be back!" Happy to find this little gem off the beaten path!

Plenty of parking, clean place with plenty of seatings-food was fresh and flavorful. What can I want more? The rice was slightly salty (in a positive way) and fluffy, metas were tender (I got half chicken and beef/lamb gyro) and all the veggies were fresh. I got tzatziki sauce on the side in a small cup but I wanted to lick it, it was so good! The staff is super friendly and helpful. I would absolutely go back again!

    Some fresh quality ingredients!

Came here to catch up with a friend. Was greeted with a nice smile upon entering. We expressed it was our first time here at Sumac. The Mediterranean build your own was very clean and empty upon entering. My friend opted for a half hummus half rice base with chicken shawarma and other toppings. He let me try his and it was very good with the spicy sauce he had on top of his tzatziki. The chicken shawarma and the beef lamb gyro meat was so tender and well seasoned. The vegetables and toppings were all so fresh and bright in color. I got some crispy and well seasoned fries for my base and they are such good fries just on their own and cooked to order. Topped With cucumbers, tomatoes, banana peppers, pickled cabbage and pickled onions with a tzatziki sauce, spicy feta and regular feta sprinkled on top. An Absolute Flavor Explosion. Plenty of patrons came and went while we was dining in. There was a couple that yelled "Best gyros in town!" on their way out the door from dining in as well. I'll have to come try those too! For price and portion I think this Mediterranean cuisine is completely worth the try and is added to my rotation in restaurants. Can't wait to come back.

Very delicious option for Mediterranean food. Came across Sumac when we went to Mardi Gras for the last Yelp event. The portions were huge and everything was flavorful. Inside was clean and modern. Smelled yummy and service seemed quick. I just ordered from the app and was ready in no time. Definitely recommend!

Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly service with lots of options to flavor your meal to your preference. Welcoming atmosphere and very comfortable space. This pic is from a takeout order (hummus and pita) and is my favorite for dine in or takeout. Season it, add meat, add veggies, add sauces (it's a different meal every single time!)

FULLY LOADED. Rice. Chicken Shwarma. All the veggies. Hummus. Tzatziki. Garlic sauce. Hot sauce. So much flavor. So good.

All I knew was that they had chicken shawarma on the menu. It's in walking distance, so I had to go. It's kind of "build your own" (bowl, pita, salad). I chose the bowl, because I wanted the rice. Then I loaded with ALL the veggies, and hummus, and garlicky sauce, and tahini, and hot sauce. It hit all the marks for me. They're fast, friendly, and it's a small joint with a handful of tables. They're just off Hard and Smoky Row and totally worth the visit!

Your suppose to get tired of eating a certain cuisine over a long period of time. If that is the case than why do I never get tired of eating Greek food? I'm not Greek! Searching YELP for a restaurant serving my favorite Greek entree "A Greek Salad", I came across SUMAC. Sumac offers a "Build your own" salad $12.95, featuring either rice, pita bread, green salad, hummus or fries as a base. I considered a "Build your own salad" than quickly changed my mind to a "GREEK SALAD" $9.85. The toppings were fresh and oh, how I loves those olives and fetta cheese. I ordered some pistachio baklava $2.95 and a coke classic. Some things, I just don't tire of but I have to say, I have had better pistachio baklava. There is no waitering option here. Order at the counter and pick up at the counter. The counter people are friendly and patient with customers but they speak loudly (yell) at each other.

Falafel bowl - generous serving, ate it for two meals!

Stopped in for a quick late bite just before closing. I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of fresh veggies and flavorful toppings. I ordered the falafel bowl and everything was fresh and tasty. Couldn't resist some pistachio baklava to go with it - perfect and not too sweet. I'll be back!

Build Your Own Bowl with Beef & Lamb Gyro meat

Friendly and efficient service and a delicious entree! What more could you ask for? I ordered the "Build Your Own" Bowl with hummus base and beef & lamb meat. The serving was generous; I took home leftovers for lunch the next day. They offered a nice selection of toppings (all of which looked fresh and appetizing) and sauces. Everything tasted good and my friend and I both enjoyed our meals. Bonus: I got a warm pita on the side which I wasn't expecting - maybe because I ordered my bowl on a hummus base? Anyway, will definitely recommend it and go back.

Sumac is a delicious twist on the build-your-own concept! I ordered the gyro bowl on rice with sumac onions, cucumber, pickles, olives, and all of the sauces--even tho the grill was filled with chicken and it smelled so good. I just had my heart set on gyro. It was yummy, and generous, and we'll be back. I even texted a friend who lives nearby to make sure she knew she had to come through. It was quiet and had strong neighborhood vibes as people came in and knew the folks working. We're going to be back.

I was unsure about this type of food but I wanted to expand my palette. I explained my allergies to 'Mo. he was very patient and encouraging pointing out this and that and telling me what was in each item. I got a rice bowl with chicken, cucumber, tomato and feta cheese with tzatziki sauce. It was outstanding!! The perfect crunch from the veggies and seasoning on the chicken. They made a fan out of me. You should go too!

Generous portions for the King and just the right amount of onion. Some places go too strong with the onion. The standout was the sauce! Just had a nice garlicky zing to it. The fresh cut fries were a little greasy but still good. The sleeper was that Greek Custard tho. When you walk in you have a case of temptations staring at you. The custard got my attention. Cold and dense custard wrapped in filo dough then topped with cinnamon and honey drizzle. Dang. This thing played with my emotions. Just so good and sticky. I would make a trip here just for this. It all came to about $22 with a can of Diet Coke and it hit the spot. The gyro was in the top 3 I've ever had, the fries I didn't really care for, the dessert selection I would make a special trip for. Solid 4 Stars

Stephanie was at the register and she was quite entertaining while taking my order. I don't usually eat Greek food so I wasn't sure what to expect. She guided me through the menu and made a suggestion of the lamb gyro as the one I should try with feta cheese. I took her word for it and got the king size. Supreme seemed rather large. The line started getting long and a fellow patron advised I get French fries as well. About 10 minutes go by and Stephanie calls my order. She also recommended I add the fry seasoning. Adding the fry seasoning is a must as the fries aren't much without them. Rather small portion size to me as well for the price. The gyro however is large but way to much lettuce. The sauce is good. Overall it's a cool spot. Stephanie was the highlight of the trip for me. It's a one and done for me but cool if you're into Greek food.
