Across from the Obelisk Hotel, this was one of only two restaurants around here that didn't have seriously bothersome promoters aggressively bullying tourists to enter their establishments. We were in Istanbul long enough to find plenty of support for my initial hypothesis that the more aggressive the ballyhoo harassing passersby the lower the quality of the food in the restaurant. This place had no one in front and actually no customers inside but it is beautiful with all these colorful Turkish lamps and once inside we were soothed by tasteful videos of Cappadocia (where we had just returned from) and French jazz music. The food was superb, the service was high class, and not at all bothersome. I think this was our most expensive dinner in Istanbul, but it was well worth it. read more
