We were looking for fish, Turkish style, and found this restaurant. Because we wanted to try a mixture of fish, we went with the seafood platter for 2. Some fresh fish catches including sea bass and a couple of frozen fish like tuna and salmon were on the dish. Add in the calamari and pawns, and we got what we were looking for. The restaurant has a chill vibe and we enjoyed looking out the window to people watch. It is conveniently located near the tourist sites so that is a plus. Near the Agora Life Hotel, this restaurant is so good it makes me recommend the Agora Life Hotel so you're in close proximity. We sat one night next to a Dutch family that had a similar travel rule to us, never repeat a restaurant because it's important to maximize variety and experience on a trip. They decided the meal was so good they would return and so did we. They don't have a door bully roping unwary tourists in, and there is a definite inverse relationship between the quality of the food and how loud and forceful the door monsters are. The table side show that accompanies this dish was perfect, it wasn't a strained show with a lot of nonsense, it was a top-notch chef, doing his job at my table. It is pretty cool to watch. The taste of the fish was perfect, delicate, balanced, and flavorful and very moist. The salad that came with it was the best salad that I've had and turkey I would eat it every night if I could, I am very glad that I stuck with it and got this meal my last night in Turkey. It was fitting all good food perfectly cooked. I had read the reviews of Sultanahmet Fish House and had it flagged. I really wanted to try the salt encased flaming Sea-bass, but no restaurant served portions for a single, and those that agreed to do it did so charging the price for the larger fish, which was outrageous. I emailed chef.Sabir Gulmez who reasonably got back to me, and said that it was no problem, but did present the price which was half of what others were trying to charge me. Sultanahmet fish house serves some authentic Turkish fish dishes, and thanks to the Yelp app for the recommendation!. This place is about 5 minutes walk from Sultan Ahmet park. Since the weather was lovely, we chose to be seated outdoors. We started our dinner with fried calamari together with a very decent bottle of Turkish Rosé. Since we've been having many lamb and beef based meals, it was befitting to order some local fish, I selected grilled sea bass with seasonal greens and grilled potato. The fish was fresh and grilled to perfection. We then concluded our dinner with a special fish house crêpe with ice cream to share. The dishes are freshly made and delicious. It's one of the best places I've been to in Istanbul. The restaurant looked warm and friendly. The waiter was super nice to us. As starters they gave us a busket of warm (even hot) bread and a platter of some white(yogurt?) and red(a little spicy) souces. Life hack: if you eat up all the bread they will bring you another busket. I got a grilled sea bass. It was nicely prepared and the fish felt fresh. Please do: try to say some phrases in Turkish. I've seen the best reaction on me trying to speak Turkish. My girlfriend asked for the check in Turkish (hesap lutfen) and the waiter replied "okaaaay"(in a nice way) and became super happy. Okay I will be honest, I found this place via TripAdvisor, but since it has plenty reviews there, so I will give these guys shoutout here. Want to eat fish in Istanbul? DON'T look near water! This place is pretty close to Sultan Ahmet so it could be a good addition to your sightseeing. Place is cosy, not big, has two floors and I believe they do have outdoor seating during summer. We were a party of two and started with large shepherd salad for both of us and a portion of feta/white cheese. Yummy! Definitely must try if you looking for something fresh and light before main fish dish. Next up, of course, the main dish: swordfish kebab for me and grilled bass for my friend. Okay, I will be honest and descriptive I can here: WE WANTED TO EAT OUR FINGERS OUT after finishing the fish. So DELICIOUS! It was soft, not tiny bones to bother with, spice and aroma is just about perfect, lemon juice is a must-add. There was their special spicy sauce and haydari on a side, which added extra satisfaction to our taste receptors. For drinks, nothing special: I ordered a beer to freshen up my mouth after each bite ( LoL) and my friend order sparkling water. We visited this restaurant twice. The first with friends and the second as a couple. The servings are generous and the food is really good. It is a restaurant all about the food and the service...no fancy table clothes and other restaurant 'bling'. On both occasions we sat on the footpath and enjoyed a good night occasionally interpreted by some noisy trucks. On the first occasion our starters were octopus and sheppard salads, and calamari.....all really of a main course size. Quality and taste were good. We had the signature dish the salt baked sea bass for two as our mains.... we were engaged in the cooking and it had plenty of theatre on the street with the flames lighting up the night sky... The fish was wonderful...moist, tasty and tender.....what a feast. Just too much given we had had substantial starters... that said this was getting close to or is 'wow' food. So this first night was a great night, really good food and a delightful owner/chef who shared some of his time with us ..... all good reasons to come again. The second experience was even better...on the owner/chefs advice we had one course as we had again selected the fish for two...this wonderful salt baked sea bass. Again all the threatre occurred as the chef dosed it with flames, cracked off the salt encrusting and then he served the fish....in a word 'wow'....our favourite dish in eight days in Istanbul. Sultanahmet is not exactly the best place to find a variety of authentic high quality food...but then you stumble across places like this restaurant. We met the owner and you can tell he is so proud and in love with what he does! The food and service here was outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We had the salt baked sea bass which came with a "show" - think fire and chipping away at the dish. The waiter carefully pulled the fish apart for us removing the bones. It was so tasty and fresh! Yelp doesn't have many reviews for this restaurant but tripadvisor and many books have recommended it along with a plethora of awards posted at the door of the restaurant. The food is honestly disgusting. The chicken was super undercooked in both the doner and the kebab pieces. It was pink, grey, and shiny and tasted like blood. I ate a piece of the chicken before I realized and have been sick for the past day, throwing up and the other symptoms of food poisoning. The salad was old and brown, and the tomatoes were definitely bad, they tasted like rotten yogurt. When we told the waiter our chicken was undercooked he scoffed at me and took one of the plates and when he came back with it, the chicken looked the exact same, you couldn't even put your fork all the way through it. My wife and I were lucky enough to grab the last free table before it filled up for the night. I would highly recommend making reservations. The dining rooms are small and have an intimate feel while keeping a casual atmosphere. We had the salt crusted sea bass which was a bit of a theatrical offering with the fire and chisel and all that. It was cooked to perfection and the server/owner filleted it in less than a minute. The wine was very affordable and made a nice accompaniment to the meal. This is a place that I will definitely return to the next time I'm in Istanbul. read more

They are clearly catering to the tourist crowd, which is good unless you are looking for a restaurant for locals. I had the eggplant salad and the grilled sea bass. Sea bass served with a small potato a couple of tomatoes and an onion. Fine by me...fresh grilled fish with some olive oil and lemon. Fresh fish cooked right. I would advise against sitting outside. It is in a fairly active area of town.
