Excellent and more. The salt encased flaming Sea-bass was perfect, exceptional, and more. The table side show that accompanies this dish was perfect, it wasn't a strained show with a lot of nonsense, it was a top-notch chef, doing his job at my table. It is pretty cool to watch. The taste of the fish was perfect, delicate, balanced, and flavorful and very moist. The salad that came with it was the best salad that I've had and turkey I would eat it every night if I could, I am very glad that I stuck with it and got this meal my last night in Turkey. It was fitting all good food perfectly cooked. I had read the reviews of Sultanahmet Fish House and had it flagged. I really wanted to try the salt encased flaming Sea-bass, but no restaurant served portions for a single, and those that agreed to do it did so charging the price for the larger fish, which was outrageous. I emailed chef.Sabir Gulmez who reasonably got back to me, and said that it was no problem, but did present the price which was half of what others were trying to charge me. Anyway, I took a long journey to get there from where I was (mall again) and it was well worth it

Sultanahmet fish house serves some authentic Turkish fish dishes, and thanks to the Yelp app for the recommendation!. This place is about 5 minutes walk from Sultan Ahmet park. Since the weather was lovely, we chose to be seated outdoors. We started our dinner with fried calamari together with a very decent bottle of Turkish Rosé. Since we've been having many lamb and beef based meals, it was befitting to order some local fish, I selected grilled sea bass with seasonal greens and grilled potato. The fish was fresh and grilled to perfection. We then concluded our dinner with a special fish house crêpe with ice cream to share. The dishes are freshly made and delicious. The wait staff and customer service are awesome. This place is a must-try especially if you want to try some Turkish local fish dishes.

This place is a winner. I don't give away 5 stars easily. But I have to say it made me want to write. The food was exquisite. I had the sea bass, and the garlic shrimp with butter . My taste buds were happily met with the best seat in the house ! Ughhh if you're a people watcher like me this place is overkill. It's too much in the best way. Simple, elegant, and delicious. It makes Istanbul feel romantic. Hands down the best fish I've had here so far. And ladies ... the owner is cute FYI ( that's important). . Anyway, yes to this fish house. It's special and the music is delightful.

Okay I will be honest, I found this place via TripAdvisor, but since it has plenty reviews there, so I will give these guys shoutout here. Want to eat fish in Istanbul? DON'T look near water! This place is pretty close to Sultan Ahmet so it could be a good addition to your sightseeing. Place is cosy, not big, has two floors and I believe they do have outdoor seating during summer. We were a party of two and started with large shepherd salad for both of us and a portion of feta/white cheese. Yummy! Definitely must try if you looking for something fresh and light before main fish dish. Next up, of course, the main dish: swordfish kebab for me and grilled bass for my friend. Okay, I will be honest and descriptive I can here: WE WANTED TO EAT OUR FINGERS OUT after finishing the fish. So DELICIOUS! It was soft, not tiny bones to bother with, spice and aroma is just about perfect, lemon juice is a must-add. There was their special spicy sauce and haydari on a side, which added extra satisfaction to our taste receptors. For drinks, nothing special: I ordered a beer to freshen up my mouth after each bite ( LoL) and my friend order sparkling water. I am not saying that this is the only place you should go, but if you sightseeing around Topkapi/Sultan Ahmet district, this would definitely be one of your best shots, 0 regrets!

We were brought here by our guide and thought it was going to be the typical "touristy" food. Boy was I wrong!! Great food and cute place!!

We had the salt crusted sea bass which was a bit of a theatrical offering with the fire and chisel and all that.

When I arrived there was only one other customer inside. The restaurant decor was cute and I very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. This spot was a bit pricey just like most of the restaurants in this touristy area. I had certain Turkish entrees i wanted to try during my vacation. I ordered the Iskender kebab which is beef and pita bread covered with tomato sauce with yogurt on the side. I ordered a side salad to go with it. The dish was very delicious as you can tell in one of my pics. I chatted with some of the staff about life in Istanbul. I was offered some complimentary pomegranate tea before I left and it hit the spot. This is definitely a place to check out when you're in the area.

I had some of THEE BEST chicken kebab I've ever had in this country here. The beef kebab was also tender and flavorful. You cannot go wrong with any of these! The service was quick and prompt, and the servers were great at making recommendations. I came here in the winter so we sat indoors which felt a bit cramped however, there is also outdoor seating during the nicer weather months. If I'm ever back here in Istanbul, I would definitely come back. And if you're reading this, you NEED to try the Old Ottoman!

I highly recommend the chicken kabobs, juicy and well seasoned. Also enjoyed the margaritas, stiff and not overly sweet. Staff is pleasant and attentive. The views are unmatched in the evening. Make your reservation in advance to secure your sunset table. The inside is nice and classy but I simply adore the open air views from the roof. The birds really set off the skyline and you can see several of the mosques around. Not SUPER expensive but it is in the higher end price wise compared to their surrounding competition -- 100% worth it in my book. I will definitely go again on my next visit. Glad I could introduce it to a friend this go round. The only thing I disliked about this place is the "dining dome" as I called it. A portion of the roof now offers seating in a large plastic dome. The dome is scratched up and obstructs the view of the city but does protect diners from the wind. I was not a fan of this dome. I'm sure it's something someone saw on the internet and implemented .. I hope they get rid of it, it's super unnecessary. Otherwise -- LOVE!

After two days having some great meals in Istanbul of that type, we looked for something different. Not far from Galata Tower, GK is on a side street with little foot traffic. It has a big modern sign back off the street and one of the operators saw us hesitating where to enter and waved us in from the front entrance. Inside it has whimsical and funny decorations and serious books mounted on the wall, but is not atmospheric, more like a diner. BUT the food is displayed in a case, hot and cold entrees separated, so you can see what you are ordering. You pick what you want and they assemble your choices on a plate and bring it to the table. Hot entrees included chicken bites in a tomato sauce and chicken with onions, lamb stew and beef and plenty of salad and vegetable choices in the cold display case. The group of men running the place that night were low key but personable, answering our questions about food items and Turkish literature. Service was prompt but understated and helpful. Our group of four had a great time and the menu is diverse enough that everyone found choices that pleased them. But remember, we came in expecting something very good other than doner kebap and were not disappointed!
