We wanted to find someone in Sonoma County and are only up there on the weekends. Randy not only met us on the weekend, but offered to come to us (about an hours drive). He very nicely and patiently answered all of our questions along the way. His work is meticulous and he honors his commitments. He is very responsive and has great communication skills. This year we spoke with several other CPAs, all of whom confirmed this for us. We decided to pay a second CPA to prepare our taxes this year after asking Randy if he could apply the deductions for us. Although the cost of paying two CPAs was not insignificant, our savings still exceeded the added expense. Nevertheless, Randy was surprisingly angry and rude when we gently told him we would be using a different tax preparer. Later, his online payment system went down. He notified us that we would have to pay him with a paper check this year. And so we wrote and mailed the check to him. Very shortly thereafter, apparently not having received the check, Randy went straight to threatening us with small claims court over the "late payment". In our process of asking around about tax advice we heard from a number of people that they too had either directly or indirectly found Randy to be angry, vindictive, and to have been inflexible with their tax preparation. Ordinarily, we would not wish to spread negative vibes on the internet, but having received numerous threatening communications from someone we have paid to do work we ended up not using, we felt we should caution others in our community.

Our accountant was retiring so we searched the web and found most all the good ones are not taking…read moreon new clients so we settled with Priscilla Eckhardt with L H Harris CPA because of 3 good review but found out after this was from the last owners clients before Pricilla took over the company. after our interview with Priscilla and her stating that our company would be no problem for her we decided to try her. Priscilla requested everything she needed to get a 4 month profit & loss done that was needed for our liability audit coming up. We supplied her immediately with everything she asked for and also six years of our P&L history so she can see what was being deducted in the passed and had this info to check her work to see if she has everything down. after over a month I contacted Priscilla to check in. I had to call several time to get a hold of her as she is always on the phone or to busy to take you call or answer emails. Another month passed with no contact so I contact her again and she tells me the P&L is complete but need to go threw someone else to check it. OK almost a month later I call over and over again until I get a hold of Priscilla and she tells me its complete and to come pick it up.. you would think she would of call ME but that it is obviously how she runs her business. When we finally received the P&L it had nothing on it! Priscilla has $270.00 down TOTAL for ALL our utilities for 4 months. power. water, gas. We are a manufacturing company and 2 days of power alone is over $200.00. Priscilla had no C.C. charges deducted that the company charged everything to, no gas or insurance for the company vehicles deducted, no liability insurance deducted. No lease payment for 4 month was deducted. Nothing! it was like Priscilla had no clue what she was doing! Priscilla was also told ALL our sales are online from Amazon, Etsy, Ebay etc. and not one fee from any of these sites are deducted. These are basic right offs that Priscilla could not get right that anyone that knows taxes would of known right away that these are missing and this also went threw someone else to view according to Priscilla! I contacted Priscilla regarding all her mistakes that we paid her for and she had nothing to say. Not even sorry. Priscilla took no responsibility for her mistakes and left it as it was and did not try to fix anything. We also told her she had no depreciation schedule down for over 200K of equipment that she had the list for that the incorporation purchased years ago. Priscilla reasoning for not including these deductions in our P&L was because the incorporation purchased the equipment used and we would need to go find ALL the passed Owners of the equipment we purchased used and see if any of the passed owners had a business and already wrote them off before she would give us the deductions even if we had to go back 25 years Priscilla said. And if we found that someone did wrote it off that we could not use it because they did. This was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in the 25 year in business. Odiously after this remark from Priscilla we left running and never looked back! our new professional accountant could not use ANYTHING that we paid for and supplied by LH Harris CPA or Priscilla. We projected in less then 3 yrs we would of been bankrupt and out of business if we stayed with Priscilla and her accounting skills. Priscilla seemed more in helping the IRS then saving her clients on basic right offs. We would not recommend this company.

This last tax season they fired my tax preparer who is a family member and locked her out of the office. Now I get a notice that they can't help us this year after a decade of paying them to prepare our taxes. My parents also received the same notification in the mail instead of our annual tax preparation packet because they are too busy to help loyal clients that they screwed over the year before. Not even a phone call, just a letter, sorry, we are too busy to help loyal clients. If they were planning on dropping clients they should have said something after they screwed up last year. It really makes me worry what shady stuff happened and if my prior years were legit or messed up. Definitely a poor handling all the way around. I don't like to leave bad reviews but this one earned less than one star. To not be notified until December that instead of getting a tax prep packet to get a "You have been dropped and need to find a new place is a slap in the face. And there was only one person that called back one time ever, even when calling the main line. Way to take care of a long time client, and drop my entire family. If you were going to drop us we should have been notified after last April when you fired her. That's 8 months of wait to find out that your tax preparers won't be helping you. Highly impersonal service. And that's 8 less months to find a good accountant/CPA.

They claimed knowledge of the nuances of my business but it soon became apparent that they did not know anything about it. Then one fine day, they charged me $2100 for the bookkeeping (w/o a detailed invoice) and when I objected, they hurriedly gave me a $1400 discount.
