We going to kill the paddle boarding...: Found another awesome spot to drop the board in the water.

On rainy or cloudy days I actually enjoying coming here to sit by the water & enjoy the water. It's great to do outdoor calisthenics too. Great place to meditate if the beach sand is wet. :))) You can rent paddle boards and kayaks. And for those soft hearted suckers like me they also have a little tick garden where you paint your pebbles and leave it there. I'm doing that right now. Hahaha... there's this huge collage of tiles that I love looking at when it's empty like today. So many wonderful simple things to do in the local area.... & for the coffee lover there 3 coffee spots across the way that I've yet to try but will post about once I do... :))))

Amazing park, splash pad and playground. You can see boats coming by and there is a nice breeze from the water.

I took my son here to go to the splashpad. There is a beautiful splashpad and separate playgrounds for 2-5 and then older. It is right by the inter coastal so the view is very nice! There is a pretty walkway near the water and a covered area with picnic tables. I highly recommend!

One word that describes this local park would be AMAZING! This little park is absolutely beautiful. 100% FREE Public Parking for up to 4 hrs. Family oriented and kid friendly. The views are gorgeous of the Deerfield Beach Inter-coastal. On one side of this park you have Deerfield Island and the other "The Cove" at Deerfield. There's a beautiful mosaic splash pad for the kids founded by the local Kewanis International and two modern playgrounds for kids of all ages. You can also utilize public seating, benches and picnic tables and huge grassy knolls under the shaded Palms. There are clean public restrooms available as well as a floating dock with ocean access for water sports and water craft. Such a peaceful place to spend the afternoon.

Sullivan Park used to be the site of the Riverview Restaurant that was damaged by a hurricane in 2005. Supposedly gangsters in the 1930's frequented the restaurant that had a private casino so they could make a quick getaway from the police on the waterway. The restaurant went into foreclosure in 2011 and Deerfield Beach purchased it for $3.4 million dollars. Life doesn't get much better than sitting on a grassy hill as the wind whips through your hair watching the boats cruise down the intracoastal as you hear the laughs of the kids in the splash fountain behind you. Well maybe it's better if you are in one of the mega yachts but I have simple tastes. I am sitting here in Sullivan Park waiting for the free shuttle to take me to Deerfield Island Park. Parking is also free for the first four hours but have to register your license plate. The park is at the base of the bridge. I love parks on the water like this one and Palm Beach county has several but none as nice as this. The landscaping is beautiful, the bathrooms look like they are right out of Key West, and there is a playground and splash pad for the kids. The splash area was purchased by the Deerfield Beach Kiwanis Club who put in the mosaic tiles of people and fish. I loved finding all of the cute antlers in honor of Deerfield Beach incorporated in the park like in the weather vane and the pathway tile. It's just gorgeous in every direction you look. All of that plus a free shuttle to a nature preserve on an island. This park is the jewel of Deerfield Beach.

Sullivan Park. Off Hillsboro, immediately west of intracoastal.

I've been reading about this park for awhile, as it was being developed, as much attention was given to it in Boca Raton. You see, there is a piece of land on the intracoastal in Boca Raton that the City (which purchased it for close to $9 million about 9 years ago) planned to develop and lease for a restaurant, and after years of controversy, the voters succeeded in blocking the City from doing so. Sullivan Park has been cited as an example of outstanding design of a water front park, and after walking around it, I whole-heartedly agree. The park is great for children of all ages, especially younger ones. There are two well shaded play areas which have equipment for toddlers, and another for those older. They are secured by fencing and the ground is that soft rubber stuff. The highlight is a beautifully designed - with mosaic tile - SPLASH PAD, which has jets of water shooting up from the ground to different heights. While I was there, about a dozen kids were screaming with joy as they ran through the jets of water, incredibly excited. It was a joy to observe. There are at least a dozen comfortable benches around the perimeter of the splash pad, and that's where parents were sitting, observing their children. There is a marina with 11 boat slips, which rent for $5 and hour. The view is out to the intracoastal. There is also a free shuttle boat on weekends which takes you to Deerfield Island Park, which is a nature preserve with trails, and I'm told there is a lot of wild life to see, including a friendly six foot long iguana . There's metered parking for close to 100 vehicles, several clean bathrooms, and lots of shaded sitting areas, and an abundance of old growth banyan trees as well as newly planted trees. It's really beautiful, both in its well thought out design, use of materials and colors, and it's location on the intracoastal. Access is from Hillsboro, first turn west of the intracoastal, on the north side. No matter where you live, check out this gem of a park. Bring your kids, grandkids, or borrow someone else's. Or go by yourself and just chill out.

What a great find! We were originally headed to a different park but forgot about the road closure on A1A. Saw a sign for this park and decided why not. They have two shaded play areas for different ages, some picnic space, and a large splash pad. Definitely going to come back when the splash pad is running. Plenty of shaded seating in the park! There is even a water taxi to take you to Deerfield Island Park. Plenty of parking and it's free for four hours. Some boats slips by the hour. Seemed like someone had dropped their salad in the toddler area a day or two before and their is no gate around the splash pad. Otherwise this would have been an easy 5 star review.

Sullivan Park is a not so hidden hidden gem. The park opened in 2017 and as we are in the summer months more and more parents are at the park. Sullivan Park is a beautiful small park with access to the intercostal. It has a 2200 square foot splash pad, 2 playground, picnic areas and access to a water taxi to take you to Deerfield state Park. The reason the park doesn't get 5 stars is because the lack of gate between the splash pad and intercostal. Everytime we go we watch parents chase their kids from getting too close to the water.

Beautiful park on the intracoastal for adults and children. It has a private parking lot with free parking for up to four hours. Two separate playgrounds for children. One is for younger children and the other is for older children with appropriate monkey bars etc.A large Mosaic splash pad that children absolutely adore playing in. And might I add the views!! The views of the intracoastal are stunning. Plenty of seating.. shaded and not shaded for the sun bathers. Clean bathrooms. I love bringing my baby here

The splash pad is fun for the entire family!

This little gem is budget friendly family fun! There is free 4 hour parking, just need to register your tag at the parking meter. This is a great place for the family to hang out and let the kids burn off some energy! The splashpad is a great area for the kids (and grown ups) to get some Vitamin D and enjoy the water splashing on you. A word of caution, there are no gates to prevent little ones from running toward the piers so parents will need to have eagle eyes on their kids. Then move on to the gated playground area- there's two (age group friendly) for the kids to go crazy in. Definitely a place to keep on the weekend agenda for the family.

    Open from dawn to dusk.

Ask the Community - Sullivan Park

Can you park a vehicle at Sullivan Park?

Yes. There is a parking lot adjacent to Sullivan Park. It is free metered parking for up to 4 hours. You don't have to pay, but you do have to enter your license plate into the parking system.

    Are dogs allowed?

There is a sign which states "no dogs". I've seen people with dogs on leashes. There is no protected area for a dog to run. It's not that kind of park.

Does the park offer rentals and does it have a basketball court?

Sullivan Park has a public marina and floating dock for paddle board and kayak launching. Soon, the privately owned property next door to the park closest to the bridge will be offering water sports rentals. There is no basketball court in this… Read more

For earth day and for a milestone review, this is the park I chose to go to. We were not far away…read moreand I was curious to explore the area. I could easily live in this park. You'd never know it was here -- right along the intracoastal waterway -- unless you lived in this neighborhood. It's not the easiest to find as it's set back amongst the expensive homes, boats, marinas, and winding streets of Lighthouse Point. But it's well worth a trip to find it. There's not that much man made entertainment here -- no bbq grills or tennis courts or basketball nets or swing sets. What it does have is natural beauty and spectacular water views. There's a paved path to the middle and around the edge as well as some sandy paths. There are several spaces to park your car just outside the fence. Inside the fence is a bike rack. To the left of the entrance is the butterfly garden. And yes, we did see some colorful orange butterflies when we went -- but they were too fast (or shy?) for pictures. There are flowers -- yellow ones (sorry I don't know their name) and a number of green ones planted to attract the flying beauties. To the right of the entrance is a lovely large white Jasmine flowering bush. Heavenly scented. Inside the park are wide green expanses under the trees and several tented pavilions where you can rest and read or just contemplate nature. There is a bat house on a tall pole -- the bats eat mosquitos and are encouraged to visit, but I doubt there's one in residence. There was an empty bird house high up on a tree, too. There is an exercise area with instructions telling you what to do. But no one was using it. There's a sandy area with many coconut palms (and coconuts on the ground) and sea grape bushes that lead right down along the water. You could even dip a toe in if you're adventurous -- or just pull up a towel and sun bathe. In any case, along the water you get to see all the sail and speed boats passing by. And hear a soft lap as the water meets the shore. Such a nice respite from the hubbub noise of civilization. It was a welcome quiet space to rest and relax -- to get away and enjoy Mother Nature. So, come here -- and make every day Earth Day!

There were a ton of people also there so parking can be a little difficult but at least the parking is free. The park has a playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and then right behind it all is the Arboretum. The arboretum is a fantastic walking trail. It has several hundreds of different species all throughout and it has signage naming each one so you get to learn a bunch while you are walking around. The pathway is paved and includes many branching walkways to benches, picnic tables, and places to see even more so you aren't on a linear walk. They also have a bunch of alligator signs so you may be lucky enough to spot one when walking around. I could easily spend an hour walking around counting the species of plants and seeing which one is thriving the most throughout the exhibit. I can't wait to visit again and see more than what I saw on my first visit.
