Very disappointed. I thought I would have Pad Thai but the special menu and waitress steered me to a dish called Hot Crazy Noodles. First of all they were not spicy. This was in spite of the fact I asked for spicy food. This was a mixed seafood dish and it ALL TASTED LIKE RUBBER. Everything was over cooked and terrible! This was a luncheon special?? 14 dollars for a dish of Ramen Noddles ( I have made them taste better than this). I would stay away from this place. read more

This is a great local thai place in the town. Me and my husband are vegetarians and they have really good vegetarian options. We both like the Pad thai and drunken noodle. It is reasonably priced and very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite to eat because the service is very fast as well. read more

Update: Came here one night around 8pm for a sit in dinner and I enjoyed every moment! Once again staff was extremely friendly and welcoming!! The food was perfect! I honestly think it's the best Thai food I've had in CT in awhile. I ordered soup, fried wontons and seafood Pad Thai which was perfectly cooked and tasted extremely fresh, not like reheated/warmed food which I've had at plenty other places! The prices are great for the quantity of food and it just seemed like everyone in the place was welcome and connected with each other! I hate to give negative reviews, but this was really one of the worst meals I've ever tried to eat. We ordered crispy chicken dumplings, spring rolls, basil fried rice, chicken pad thai and thai iced tea. First, the decent parts: chicken dumplings had very little filling but were good enough to eat. Spring rolls were teeny tiny but fine. Nothing to write home about. Thai iced tea was actually pretty good - only thing we actually finished. And then the bad: the pad thai had an awful smell. Maybe it was from the styrofoam take-out container mixed with egg and everything, but it was honestly terrible - we could smell it from the moment we got in the car. The smell was so off-putting and that's probably partially what made the taste so bad, but whatever the reason, the taste was terrible. The fried rice was less awful, but still had a spoiled taste to it and even my husband who can usually stomach anything couldn't manage it. We threw out the entire container of each meal. There are MUCH better options in the Manchester/South Windsor area - would absolutely not recommend this place. read more

This is the best Thai in CT! I just recently tried a spot in Glastonbury because I didn't want to drive to Manchester and I regretted it. I had tried thai food a number of times prior to coming here and never liked it. I would ask other people what they liked at thai restaurants and they always say chicken satay and pad thai - boring in my book. Then we came to Sukhothai and now I like thai food. The curries are excellent, I love Spicy noodles with shrimp, any of the duck dishes - in short, I really enjoy eating here. I really haven't had a problem with the service but we do usually go on weeknights. I would say to people that are in a mad rush for their dinner, they do take-out :) read more

Sukhothai has the best pad thai. It's worth coming here just for that if you're a pad thai fan. Unfortunately, the rest of the food is pretty disappointing. The curries are uninspired and lacking in flavor. The service is slow, so do not come here for dinner if you have firm plans afterwards. Update: I visited again for the pad thai, which I'm sad to report has gone downhill, it's still the best in the area, but not nearly as good as before. I hope they were just having a bad night. The service was also worse than before, we had to seat ourselves while the server (who clearly saw us) sat and sipped her water. read more

We love Sukhothai! Great customer service, super tasty appetizers, delicious meals and great portions (enough for a solid meal + leftovers every time)! I really love their sweet & sour chicken dish, which is loaded with various veggies and a tasty sauce. I also LOVE their chicken satay appetizer with peanut sauce & cucumber sauce. I would order the cucumber sauce as a drink, if I could, I swear - Is it wrong to want to straight-up guzzle a sauce? My boyfriend loves their red curry and gets it nearly every time. I really love this place. I was introduced to it by a friend, and find it to be my preferred stop for Thai when I come home to ct. The food here is your standard Thai fair, plus many specials that you can tell they really put a lot of thought into. Their curries, appetizers, soup (especially the Tom Kha), and seafood dishes are really spectacular. I like to bring people here because everyone can always find something that they want. And their desserts are very good- just don't let the owner see you didn't finish her fried icecream (which is huge!) or she'll come and rib you about whether or not you liked her cooking (jokingly)...which leads me to my next point. I think the thing most people will say before the food, funny enough, is the service. When the owner is there, it is like a ray of sunshine walking in. This woman is sooo genuinely friendly and loves getting to know people there. She is a tiny little old thing but really jumps around and has fun. She makes everyone feel welcome. When she is not there, the service is still fine and very good time-wise, but it definitely makes me sad not to have her seem so excited when I come in (she will somehow remember what I had the last time even if it was a while ago). The decor is pretty average. It is a very open, bright room with a lot of standard Thai decor. Nothing super amazing, but adequate. Overall: Love this place. They make you feel at home, serve really amazing food that you can taste the love in, and make you think about the next time you'll be back before you even leave! read more

From the few things we tried, very good food... the rotey appetizer was perfect! It was like a bunch of paper thin rotis somehow sandwiched together so that was slightly crisp and flaky on the outside, like the outside of a croissant, and just a bit doughy on the inside... and then it was served with this creamy orange curry... together it was delicious! We also tried the basil fried rice which was excellent as well. The 1 dish I wasn't a huge fan of was the Laab which was sort of a salad that was made with ground chicken and ground rice with some crisp cut peppers and onions. The dish was just way too tart... not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not but I prob wouldn't order it again. We also got plum wine and Thai iced tea, both of wish complimented the heat from our dishes very nicely. The place looks decent... you can tell it's a little old and run-down but they do a good job with the decor to still make it feel clean and pleasant... each table has white linens, they cover up any clutter away from the dining area using decorative fold-out walls and curtains... nice job. We've come here a few times and the quality has been going down hill. Tonight the order was mixed up from the phone order which I understand. When we got to the restaurant, they were happy to correct (I know the order was placed correctly) and got the piece of the order corrected within 10 minutes. We got the food home: the Tom Yum was primarily fish sauce. The taste of the soup was overwhelmingly fish sauce and quite frankly - inedible. Maybe I had this wrong but I understood this to be a chicken broth base, not fish sauce. Lastly - we ordered the drunken noodle. Advice to the owner/manager of the kitchen: you can tell when you're using old/refrigerated chicken. The chicken tasted old and impacted the entire dish. I threw it out. I'd rather go without Thai than pay for this food. Extremely disappointed. read more

I've been eating here on and off for years. The staff is absolutely the best and the food is even better. I ordered a take out order and received the wrong food (it happens-no big deal). I returned with the wrong order to exchange for the correct one, and they told me to take it home and try it. It was great! And now I have another favorite dish from there. I've never had better coconut soup than at this location. The service is friendly, food is good. My wife and I recently visited Sukhothai on a lark, not sure what we wanted for dinner, and stumbling across it one night when we were near Main St. in Manchester. What we had that night, and subsequently visits, is nothing short of a revelation on what Thai food could and, and is supposed to be. Simply put, the flavors and textures are superior to any previous experiences with Thai food, and heighten what my own ideas about various dishes could and should be. We've had plenty of good to great thai food before, but Sukhothai has quickly become our barometer and standard bearer for others to be judged by. The best way I can think of to describe all of it is complex - even a relatively simply dish like pad thai reveals itself through its layering, and each individual ingredient bringing a unique bit of texture, flavor and taste. The same holds true for their soups - the delicacy and care put into the meals is apparent, and reflects a deep knowledge of the techniques and ingredients used. The staff has consistently been pleasant, the decor is simple and clean, and food itself is remarkably consistent in its quality and presentation. Call ahead for takeout is quick, and the meals are as good the next few days reheated. I never would have expected to find a top class Thai restaurant in Manchester, but thankfully it consistently lives up to that. read more

Not only when I'm craving it, but this is my go-to spot if I'm ever unsure what to get for lunch/dinner. You can't go wrong here. I recommend their curries + tofu ...... so rich and flavorful. sukhothai is a decent thai spot with more vegetarian options than most other thai places i have been. i had spicy sriracha noodles that were not spicy at all, but still delicious (so if you like it hot ask them to spice it up a bit) .. they do lunch special combos, but i opted for the full noodle dish - reasonable large portion size for the price. the restaurant space is pretty weird, very open-typical thai decor. service was pretty good, kept the water glasses full. better than a lot of other thai place i have been to. would not hesitate to come back. my caps lock key and return keys are not working. read more

Just because it's the only Thai restaurant nearby doesn't make it good. The food is over-seasoned and dried out. It's basically fast food quality, and it tastes like it was all precooked and reheated. (Our take out order of 3 dishes took only 10 minutes, so I'm guessing it probably *was* precooked and reheated.) read more

I went last night and ordered the Green curry and it was spicy (not CRAZY spicy - you probably could ask for it hotter if you like...it was hot enough for me) and not nearly as watery as it used to be. I wanted to give this restaurant a good review because I want to support local businesses, but unfortunately I give this restaurant a mixed review. First, cleanliness: twice we found crud on the silverware, once on a fork and then on a serving spoon. Second: the brown rice was mushy. I cook brown rice at home and never is it mushy. Third: the Mango Curry was insipid, aside from the mango pieces. The only good dish from the meal was the Drunken Noodle. The service was also fine. Not sure if I will return, since I now wonder whether they adequately wash the dishes and cooking utensils. With so many restaurant options in the area, it will be a while before I give this restaurant a second chance. Small businesses that want to thrive should keep an eye on the most basic details: cleanliness and not over cooking food. First impressions matter. read more
