The…read morestaff was very personable and helpful, and seemed genuinely committed to what they were doing. I have heard that trying to adopt a cat in NYC can sometimes be a trying, time consuming and overall unpleasant experience, but my experience here was the total opposite. I spoke to someone nice on the phone to get details about the cats they had, and they offered to hold a female kitten who sounded perfect until I was able to come in. Well, perfect she was and in less than an hour they had all my paperwork processed, called my references, approved my application, went over her medical records with me, and recommended a great food from their pet store to me. Not to mention that she is the sweetest little lovebug anyone could imagine and has been a total joy- used the litterbox from day one, gets along with my dog, only scratches her scratching post, I could go on for days! While in the store I also took a peek at all the exotic animals they had- I can honestly say I never thought I would see a tortoise the size of a dog just freely roaming around a pet store in Brooklyn! They also had snakes, iguanas, lizards, guinea pigs, hamsters, and parakeets (due to legalities regarding the keeping of exotics in city limits, certain types of animals are only available with proof of address outside of NYC). They are the only place that I've come across in NYC that offers its (excellent) rescue services to these cast off exotic animals and it's wonderful to see a place committed to helping every homeless animal that needs help- not just the ones that are cute and fluffy and easy to find homes for. Their facebook page is great too! Staff members check the page and love to see updates on pets that have found homes!

In fact, this is an excellent pet store, although I suspect something about these reviews that are from reviewers that sound alike and don't really have that much other Yelp stuff. I'm not saying they're fake - maybe they're just real customers that were asked to sign up for Yelp specifically to write reviews for this place - I have no idea. Or maybe they are fake. The store is somewhere between 4 and 5. It's not cheap but they do have some great selection so I will lean toward the five since everybody else did - but with the caveat that I'm not sure how much you can trust the reviews. Still a great store and I fully support family businesses anyway.

Paws in hell This…read morebusiness provides grooming and other pet services. I brought both of my dogs here for grooming, several hours later when I picked them up, my female dog had several spots that were nicked and bleeding. My male dog seemed to be okay upon pick up. The next 24 hours is when things got worse. Both of my dogs had a severe allergic reaction to the business not using clean tools and nicking her butt, face and elbow (which was confirmed by my multiple vet visits from two separate vets) her face has lost all hair on her nose and was bleeding and covered in puss, his ears were red, inflamed and scabbed. Both of these poor babies are now on steroids, antibiotics and topicals for this unhygienic experience. The vet confirmed that her hair on her snout won't grow back due to this reaction. The vet also confirmed that this is all trauma related to the groom itself and the groomer was too rough with the dogs. I received reimbursement for the female groom and the first vet bill which was barely a fraction of what I have spent over the last two weeks. More than anything I am writing this to inform others to not go there and have a health inspection be done at the very least. This woman should not be in business with this carelessness to the poor animals that come in there for grooming.
