Before using them for a catering event I was not familiar with Sugar Ella's - I was so impressed with their services and willingness to work with our group that I want to spread word and promote their business. They catered a tailgate for us for the opening Notre Dame game - and delivered the food. Not the easiest of requests to make to a cater in the area, most local business require you to pick up the food for your tailgate due to the difficulties in delivering the food there, but Sugar Ella's did this for us. They advertise their catering specifically for tailgating. Our menu consisted of smoked brisket, sausage and kraut, cowboy beans, Mexican cornbread casserole, loaded baked potato dips, chips, rolls, and dessert platters with chocolate chunk cookies and brownies. My personal favorites were the brisket and brownies! The brisket was all the rave at the tailgate...I could literally eat platefuls of this and be one happy meat-lover. It comes in their homemade bbq sauce that's not sweet or spicy, but perfectly tangy and settle. The brownies were huge and succulent...and they mastered a hard technique: super thick brownies that are overbaked or too dry. Their prices are affordable compared to their competition. I highly encourage you to check them out and give a glance at their website. Additionally, they have a Facebook page - I've checked it out and the only suggestion I give is that they put a little more into their marketing and social media activity. I'm not sure how exactly I found Sugarella's for my wedding for catering. But I am SO GLAD I did. I set up a tasting for her and two other catering companies. She was first. I've taken the time to gather ideas for my own wedding as I've attended weddings over the years and one of the common themes has always been I don't want the typical "wedding food"! Our people will come and I want to wine and dine them. They should get great food. Kim set up a table and set the mood. She talked us through each bit she brought out. What it was, what she could do for our wedding. How she'd make it special. She was enthusiastic and fun and totally KIM. We hit it off right away. What do you want? Let's talk about it and we'll create something. She told us about her business and her love of her job and her families love of their job. She told us what they strived for. She said "I don't want it to be typical wedding food" and it was like she was dropped into my lap. My perfect wedding caterer. We went to one more tasting and it was so bland and impersonal. We didn't bother going to the last one. Kim was our girl. We had Kim do our cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dessert shooters. We did not have a cake (altho we went to a tasting for her cakes and they were DELICIOUS). They're just not our thing. I told her my husband and I loved tiramisu and she's said done! We'll do a shooter. When COVID hit, she never wavered. Supportive, responsive. She was in it when we moved our date. My aunts reached out to her when we had a bridal shower when lots of people were social distancing and communal food was frowned upon. She jumped at the opportunity to be creative and made individual trays for every guest. Reasonable priced and BEAUTIFUL. Everyone thought they were amazing and people still talk about them. She followed every protocol and due to COVID at our venue, could not do our food as planned. Hors d'oeuvres could not be self-serve and dinner could not be served buffet. She put in the work and supplied the staff to do plated dinners and passed hors d'oeuvres. She even made a separate plate of them and had it waiting for us immediately following the ceremony so we could stuff our faces before being whisked off to do pictures. Everything was spectacular. We had late night snack sliders (that tasted better than the steak we had in our tasting with the other caterer we didn't choose). And the carriages! We rented one and dessert was served from them. They coordinate decor so everything fits in and they're so dang cute and unique. We loved every second of working with Kim. I can't say enough. Thank you Kim! read more

They also took care of all of our wedding day catering needs (appetizers, bar, dinner, dessert and late night taco bar) We cannot sing enough praise for them. Everything was positively flawless, delicious, creative, beautiful, and so meticulously presented. We gave her free rein to let her catering brain fly- and We loved every single thing she prepared. We do NOT work FOR you!" is a quote made to us by the owner of the caterer (SugarElla's Catering) that was contracted for our wedding after numerous issues/shortfalls were brought to their attention. A short summary... less bartenders then we agreed to, no leftovers were provided (even with 16 no-shows), and we had to provide assistance by assisting with man power, providing a side by side, and a trailer just to name a few issues. Rather than trying to work with us when these issues were brought to SugarElla's attention they just tried to breach the contract and charge us more. read more

We got married on October 26, 2019 and I cannot say enough amazing things about Sugarellas!! Our appetizers, main entree, dessert, and late night snack were stellar! Our favorite was the beautiful white chocolate raspberry naked cake! It was absolutely delicious and exactly what I asked for! To put the "cherry on top" Sugarellas assisted with the decorating along with designed a one-of-a-kind special coffee and hot chocolate bar for all our guests to enjoy. They went above and beyond with every detail and help me plan and put on the wedding of my dreams. SugarElla's catered my wedding and did an amazing job! The appetizers, dinner, and everything else was absolutely delicious. They were a treat to work with and had lots of great ideas. One thing our guests really loved was the outdoor food truck SugarElla's set up offering mini cupcakes and mini milkshakes for dessert! It really made the evening special. Leading up to the wedding day was extremely disorganized & stressful. The owner went back on her word about many things (suddenly needed additional items the week before- grills, etc. that we were left scrambling to rent) She didn't have enough staff reserved for the day to feed 300 people. Food lines were long and one of their bartenders had to be sent home for being too drunk. Their team refused to help with things like flipping the room that were initially promised. On top of that she was RUDE, sending along emails to the bride 1am the night before. The most unprofessional company we've ever worked with. On top of it all she still charged us in full for the full staff that were promised even when they didn't show. And didn't even attempt to make it right after this was brought to her attention. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT add stress to your wedding day (or any day) by using them. read more

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever hired. I have several incidents happen that this box does not allow me to type. My husband and I had legitimate day of issues that could have been resolved very easily. Unfortunately, we now have bigger complaints and issues with SugarEllas professionalism and the owner of the company. Their values are not honest and it's clear that they would rather argue with a client rather than just hear the problem and solve the issue at hand. Every issue I had as the bride she turned back on me saying I owe her more money. All and all they do not believe they are the "hired help and do NOT WORK FOR YOU" was her exact words to me in an e-mail. She did not have enough staff to cover for my bar & had to barback & stated I owe her an additional $500 for HELPING OUT HER STAFF. She never attempted to make anything right with us other than sending our e-mail directly to my in-laws saying "this is unacceptable" Where is the integrity here? Issues regarding this event should only be between those who signed the contract. I had five extra men help her the day of my groomsmen, THE GROOM, my father & father in law help out and she still is trying to say we owe her for extra labor when we helped out more than most would. She did not exceed any expectations with décor. We had 15 people not show up and she said we had zero left overs when I have witnesses of her employees sitting down & eating the food. SugarElla's catered my daughter's wedding. They were extremely accommodating and flexible with my "bridezilla's" countless demands. (LOL! ) They went above and beyond all our expectations and you can really tell they genuinely care about their work. The staff was friendly, kind, pleasant, and attentive to all our guests! The food was amazing. And the cake... WOW! The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the event. The food was delivered on time and hot. They thought of every detail which made things easier for us. The food was AWESOME!!! The brisket is to die for and so were the brownies! Everyone was raving about it! This was the first time the tailgate was catered and we would highly recommend it! "Very Disappointing" - We hired SugarElla's to cater our daughter's wedding. We hired them to provide, lunch for the bridal party, and for the reception, to serve appetizer, salad, sides and the wedding cake. We already had the meat covered. Food was good and the communication up to the wedding was as expected. The day of the wedding was a shock. To start, they informed us they would be there by 11am so the bridal party had their lunch prior to pictures. They arrived 2 and a half hours late. The lunch was eventually given to the girls when they were to be involved in pictures. Biggest sell for me was they promised there will be no worry once they arrive. I honestly felt everything was under control UNTIL they arrived. They did not deliver their promises. They promised to have food set up and ready. Bread/butter at every table as well as salads ready for our guests. Since they were late, they did not allot enough time to set up so everything was thrown on to a table for our guests to retrieve. Including water. Some of our guests were setting up and handling what we paid SugarElla's to handle and the response we received was "any help is appreciated". We were lied to by the owner and extremely disrespected throughout the entire night. She told us to handle the final payment on the day of the wedding. That was fine had they arrived on time. Instead, she chose to interrupt up us more than 3 times during the reception and in front of our family and guests demanding payment and slapping her contract at us. We asked for any leftover food to be boxed, they said they would provide the boxes to handle this and instead they just threw everything in the trash. They said they would cut and serve the cake. They cut the cake and placed pieces outside! The bride and groom didn't even get a piece of their cake. It was all wasted. We did all we could to avoid a scene. We did not want anyone to know the issues we were having to deal with. Unfortunately, the exchange in doing that was to miss out on the enjoyment of all the planning and hard work we put together for our daughter's wedding. I have tried discussing my concerns and have been bullied and badgered in return. Out of a $6,800 bill, we were told they will send us a refund of $149 (for the lunch charge) and it has been over a month since the wedding and still nothing. So, we will completely end this experience on a broken promise, a lie and full regret of hiring SugarElla's. read more
