Sugarcoat is a rare breed. It's so hard to find a reliable nail salon. This place has consistent work regardless of the technician. I routinely get gel manis and pedis which always turn out well and last a long time. I made an appointment on a rainy, long day and ended on a high note here. Parking is easy and plentiful. Restaurants and grocery stores in the same plaza. They take and keep reservations as well as walk ins. It's clean and organized. They also answer their phone! Just a well ran salon. I don't get my nails done very often but decided to splurge on getting a signature gel manicure and pedicure. According to the website the treatment was supposed to take 1 hour and 35 min but they were done in 35 min. It all felt very rushed. I suppose the work was okay but for the amount of money I spent I would have liked to have my treatment done with more care and been more relaxing. The manicure was supposed to come with a hand soak and hand massage but my fingers were dipped in cold water for one minute and the massage was just having oil rubbed on my hand-no actual massage. The lady who did my toes gave me a nice scrub and massage but again I wish it wasn't so rushed. I am a bit disappointed and probably will not be back. read more

i checked in at the front desk instead of being greeted the young lady barely looked up from her phone and yelled for the lady that was going to give me a pedicure. i asked if i could soak my feet while i waited. I had an appointment on the slow day and she ran 20 minutes late. I noticed she didn't open a new bag of sterile equipment for my appointment and then she told me she only used the clippers on the last customer. Gross!! I have gone there for years. After a long 8-hour shift, I picked up my kid and headed straight to my brow appointment. Once that was done, I checked the GPS, and it said it would take an hour to get home. With a trip planned for the weekend and my time running short, I figured I'd knock out getting my nails done off my list of things to do. I walked in, excited to get my nails done, but was disappointed to hear they had no availability. Honestly, it felt like they could have seen me, but since they were closing in an hour, they turned me away. It's frustrating when a business closes at a certain time but isn't willing to serve customers until then! I usually go to the Midtown location, and they always provide amazing service with plenty of availability. It's such a shame that my experience at this location didn't match up! I have been going to Sugarcoat for years because they are the best. They have a beautiful space, it's high end feeling (but without the associated cost). Their team is always professional and always do a great job. I'm never able to book my appointments in advance (due to my schedule), so I always get a different person for my appointment. And I have never been disappointed. I'm in and out in roughly an hour (for both a mani AND pedi). And my nails always look great. I am literally in the parking lot after my service and it was an expensive disappointment to say the least. All I got was a pedicure with a gel polish change. But the biggest most mortifying moment for me was at the moment, after filing my nails a bit too much, after using a comedone extractor to remove the rest of my gel nail polish on my toes, after digging under my toenails a little too much, was the lack of sanitation. This woman, no exaggeration, dropped the scrubber sponge on the ground, proceeded to pick it up, rinse it off in my bowl, which did not have the barrier plastic in it, and attempt to use it back on my foot! Had I not stopped her and made her got another one, she would have use that dirty thing off the ground on me! I was extremely mortified! She quickly realized her mistake, but why was that a thing to do in the first place? I was extremely disturbed. The young lady at the front desk did take five dollars off of my service, but never have I ever paid so much for a pedicure in the first place. I hope I did not just pay for a foot infection. I was recommended to Kim at this Sugarcoat location specifically for SNS. I had never had SNS before and always avoided trying it due to them having to use a drill. Kim was SO gentle with me and the drill actually tickled. I trusted her and was not so tense. She is so precise and detail oriented. I've seen her twice now. The first time I got tips for extra length for my bachelorette party. She mixed 2 powders to get a custom color. The second time I just did it on my natural nails. Although long nails are pretty, I can't function with long nails. The salon in part of a large shopping center. Lots of parking available. Salon itself was fairly large and had modern decor. The pedicure chairs do not have the typical massage chair, so don't be disappointed if you love those chairs. The salon was clean and very welcoming. Always the best service. Technicians go above and beyond to make your weekly experience special. I especially like Ming and Kathy. The owner meticulously runs several locations. All are good, but I like the Chastain location the best because there is a private area that you can relax, watch tv in a comfortable massage chair and enjoy some peace while being pampered. I'd visited my previous nail salon in Florida every 3-5 weeks for the past five years, so any new place will take some getting used to. My coworker recommended this salon knowing how particular I am, especially about the way that gel polish is painted. I can't stand when it's too thick! I love that Sugarcoat allows for online scheduling, so I booked an appointment with Terry for a Friday early evening only a few days in advance. She works on Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays. My previous salon did temperature checks at the door and also asked all customers to immediately go and wash their hands (and not touch all the bottles of polish) but this salon is not taking the same precautions. The bottles were all very neatly displayed, but gel/regular bottles were not paired together, so I had to ask Terry to find the gel equivalent of the OPI regular polish bottle I selected. She's a great color matcher! Terry asked what type of pedicure chair I wanted and since I hadn't been there before I didn't really know what she meant. There's a smaller room that has the standard massage chairs, and the larger space has chairs that vibrate (which is the one I sat in). It was comfortable, but I may choose the other option next time. My previous salon used plastic liners for the pedicure "sink" but this one did not. Also, I sat in the chair the entire time - I'm used to getting up after the pedicure is over and going over to a table for the manicure, but here, no moving is necessary, which was actually kind of nice! Terry has a great personality and did a great job following my specifications to cut my nails as short as possible. I was also pleased with how my cuticles were cut and that she asked me exactly how I liked things done, which is important for a first time visit. The salon uses a punch card system and once it's full, you get $10 off your service. I will definitely return! read more

I go to Sugarcoat in Peachtree Corners all the time. I was going to be near Chastain- so booked it bc it was Sugarcoat. Very lack luster for a Sugarcoat brand. Premium charge- but not premium service. Water was cold and would not get right, no massage at all with upgraded pedicure, need another coat of polish for gel toes, and more. I have been going to Sugarcoat since the original location opened up on Pharr Road. I'm no longer as close to that location so I visit the Chastain location. I'm a huge fan of Sugarcoat. The place is immaculate, the technicians are all very sweet & friendly....and they do a great job. I love the owner & am so happy to see Sugarcoat become such a success around the city with the multiple locations. I also take my daughters every now & then as a treat to get their nails done & they are very sweet to them as well. Made appointments ahead of time but when we got there they could not accommodate all 3 of us. When I asked about pricing she was incredibly secretive. Also they would not listen when our whole party of 3 insisted I get my pedi first because I had to leave the soonest but the nail lady didn't listen so ended up not being able to get my toes done. Next all the reviews that say this place is unsanitary are true!! No plastic covers or washing hands. Next I got the worst gel manicure of my life and the pricing is so ambitious... it was $55 like she said but $20 for the polish itself... our bill was over $300 but they did refund $75 for my manicure... which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. read more

While the technician was doing my nails, she commented on the fact the nail polish was old, but assured me the manicure would turn out perfect before a wedding I was attending the next day. I'm always looking for a solid nail salon near work, and bonus points for one I can book online, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover Sugarcoat Chastain. I made an appointment for my lunch break and popped over there one day for a quick manicure. The interior is beautiful, spacious, and seems like a relaxing place. They also have a ton of nail polish brands/colors to choose from. However, the trip quickly went downhill. I was sat fairly shortly after arriving at the salon, but I was placed in the back (manicure station) and then ignored for the next 15 minutes. It did seem that each employee was busy, but they were making multiple trips past my station and not even acknowledging or giving me an estimate as to when someone may be over to assist me. It kind of defeats the purpose of making an appointment when there isn't anyone available until a quarter hour after your scheduled time to assist. I actually kept setting times that I was going to get up and walk out. "Okay, if no one is over here by 12:50, I'll go...okay, 12:55..." finally, I set 1:00 p.m. as my absolute walk out time and someone came over as I was gathering my things. Unfortunately, I really needed my nails done and was leaving the next day for a trip so it was the last time I would have an opportunity. I told my manicurist that I needed the express manicure by this point. She did apologize for making me wait and said she would make my nails look nice and get me out of there quickly. Then she stopped talking to me for the rest of the time. I wasn't trying to be rude--I just told her I needed to get back to work ASAP. I didn't even mention how late they were running or that I had an appointment. She did finish the manicure promptly, which I appreciated at the time, but paid for when it chipped not even 2 days later. Ultimately, it was a good deal ($15), but the lack of organization/communication means my search is still on. read more

Don't go here! My friend and I went in for a manicure s&s and pedicure and they charged us over 300$!! They charged us for even just shaping the nails and then charged 20$ just to add chrome to the nail. my friends manicure also took about 2 and half hours. *Disclaimer: I am extremely particular. If you are not, you will most likely be very pleased with your experience at Sugarcoat. If you are particular like I am, you will appreciate my review. Pros: 1. The salon is beautiful and very nicely decorated, and my nails look great. Cons: 1. Front desk: The receptionist is unprofessional. Also, she is responsible for answering the phone, as well as filling the water for the clients. It was strange that a receptionist is also running around filling the tubs. She also did not wash her hands in between filling pedicure tubs and answering the phone/taking payments. She also took the phone into the restroom with her. Very strange. 2. Sanitation/Cleanliness: First of all, hand washing is non-existent here. Also, the seats/tubs were NOT sanitized or even WIPED between clients! I asked my nail tech if the stations are sanitized between clients, and she said "Uhum," meaning yes. But as I was getting my nails done, clients came and went and there was absolutely zero wiping/cleaning/spraying/anything between clients. There were not even plastic barriers for the pedicure tubs. That means each client is putting their feet into a tub that was just used by someone else. I was mortified by this. The receptionist even used her bare hand to take a stopper from one just-used tub and place it in another one. Again, no hand washing occurred. A nail technician who had just performed a pedicure on one client directly went to give a manicure to another client. Hands were not washed. So gross. The cushions on the seats that the nail technicians sit on had stains on them, and the techs would use vacant cushions to place on clients' laps. So the cushion on my lap was just sat on by someone. Gross. Even if we were not in the midst of a pandemic, this salon would not meet my hygiene standards in any way. But we are in a pandemic, and you would think they would place a higher emphasis on disinfecting. Also, I don't mind this, but some may: there was no space between clients (clients were seated directly next to each other). I could not wait to get out because I felt gross being there. Overall, I will definitely not be back, because the salon is not clean, and the front desk was unprofessional. For the beauty and high prices the salon has, I expected it to be spotless and have higher standards. This was definitely not the case. read more
