I am starting out this review by saying that if you LOVE homemade potato chips run don't walk to Sugar Pine! I'm serious, this was one of the best homemade potato chips I've ever had. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Both my husband and myself ordered these chips - unbeknownst to each other. When they brought 2 huge helpings of chips, I was thinking that there would be too many. However, this good fortune led to us bringing a ton home to enjoy later! So, Sugar Pine is a catering company. They used to open up every now and then to offer dinner - especially their wood-fired pizza. Now they are open every day except Mondays for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was tasty and the dessert was divine!! I highly recommend the Key Lime Pie! It was light and creamy and just oh so good. We shared it with our friends and everyone loved it! They had quite a few home-made desserts to choose from. The food includes choice of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, pizza and a small breakfast menu. They are located in the quaint and funky Prospect neighborhood in Longmont. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating faces a cute little green space. Besides the food there is a market that carries food items, homemade goods and gifts. A small, but unique selection. There is free street parking. read more

Sugar Pine is so great in every way. The new market is adorable. The bakery has to die for cinnamon rolls. The ambience is wonderful. The new expanded menu is great. So many delicious options. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak of Sugar Pine's delicious food before they opened up their brick and mortar down in Longmont, and I've been dreaming of the food ever since! We started off with their kale salad, made with massaged Tuscan kale, roasted delicata squash, cranberries and a perfect drizzle of apple cider mustard vinaigrette. Up next was their warm fall harvest vegetable salad: heirloom cauliflower, local squash puree, crisp green beans, tender roast parsnips, peppadew peppers, and a slightly salty pancetta vinaigrette. The journey continued in the form of roasted fennel spiced chicken, drizzled with baked sweet and sour orange marmalade, enhancing the springy aromatics of the bright fennel. I was far too full to continue eating, but I did anyway. We wrapped up with the drunken braised beef cheeks - fall apart tender with a rich French onion demi glace gracing the top and pops of freshly cracked pepper. Sugar Pine is currently offering their gourmet hot meals for takeout from their brand new storefront, along with deli items! They even have gourmet treats for the furry ones in your life. read more

We worked with Sugar Pine before and throughout Covid for a wedding that finally happened in early September 2021. They were very understanding of our need to push our wedding from 2020 to 2021. They were, with one exception, extremely good at communicating with us, and very helpful in informing us on what we did not know. Their food was fantastic, it was completely vegetarian per my wife's request, and the menu really did justice to itself, we had many, many compliments on the food. The appetizers, the sides and mains, and the cheese course for dessert.... all fantastic, and gorgeously presented. Lance was fantastic to work with, we had previously been working with him when he worked at our venue and were happy to interface with him when he moved to SP. There was one person that works with their bar service division that I emailed multiple times and even tried to call, leaving a message with another person, that honestly just never responded to me whatsoever, and my wife told me after the fact that she had similar difficulty reaching this one person. At the end of the day our supplier helped us with the questions that went unanswered from this one particular person. That said, everyone else was great, and service was top notch, especially day of. Our only regret is that we were so busy with the wedding itself that we struggled to fully enjoy the meal day of, and SP did bring us our own appetizers and whatnot, so this was not their fault, were were just very busy. We are hoping once the wedding season dies down we can get a similar meal from them, just the two of us, but haven't even asked yet. All in all, SugarPine is not cheap, but their food and service proves it's worth. We have no regrets in our dealings with SugarPine and will recommend them to our friends. From quick lunches to fancy dinners Sugarpine will be one of the most satisfying dining experiences you'll have. We first met Heather in 2009 when we hired Sugarpine to cater our wedding. Their food, service, and presentation were above and beyond. Since our wedding we frequently order family dinners and have visited many times for lunch specials, especially their lobster rolls! To die for! Sugarpine, Heather, and her family have become a cherished staple for us, we just can't seem to get enough. Most recently we ordered their Valentine's Day dinner! If you are considering using Sugar Pine Catering(SP) or The St. Vrain (TSV) for your special event, please read this review as I share my experience from my perspective of working with these 2 vendors. This review addresses our experience except for the day of which warrants a separate very positive review. We contracted with TSV and SP for the venue & catering for my daughters wedding on 12.29.2018. TSV forces you to use Sugar Pine for ALL food at their venue. This means you are stuck with their choices, their service, their pricing. The entire planning process of working with SP was extremely frustrating. Their inability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner caused confusion at multiple points along the way. The contract with TSV states that you must have a separate agreement with SP and that they are not responsible for SP in any way. Yet the contract they provide you for SP is confusing and very misleading in my opinion. Both contracts are very confusing when it comes to the minimum financial commitment that you must make to have your event at the venue. I reviewed both contracts, had several follow up emails with the owner of TSV as he handles all negotiations for both businesses so I felt confident in my interpretation of our minimum F & B commitment. While the actual minimum was not listed on the contract in an actual dollar amount, my emails with the owner of TSV made me feel confident that we were all interpreting it the same way. Biggest Reg Flag of all. SP and TSV requires you to provide your catering package selection as well as your guest count 90 days before your event!!!! In my opinion, the true tragedy of our situation occurred when we got to this point. They asked our guest count - which there was no way we knew what that would be since invitations had not even gone out yet and they asked about all of the catering components that we would want. At no time at all, did anyone from TSV or SP warn us that this was the point where we would be 100% locked into a firm financial commitment to SP. If someone had discussed this with us, we would have taken a more conservative approach to our 90 day invoice. Again, our contract with SP clearly states that our guest count will be guaranteed 15 days out. Fast forward to 45 days out, it becomes clear that our guest count will be well below the venue minimum of 150. I felt relieved that our catering guest count would not be locked in until 15 days out and would not be paying for food for people that were not in attendance. BUT the owners of SP had a completely different interpretation of the contracts and now claimed that what we reported to them at 90 days was our firm financial commitment to them. Keeping in mind that at this point they had hired no one, they had purchased no food yet they still wanted me to pay for our entire catering package for 150 people even though our final guest count was 103. While we did finally reach an arrangement valued at around $1000, what we had to go through to get that concession was pure craziness and was no where near the $4000 in overcharges in my opinion. Our decision to work with these two vendors caused an extreme amount stress to our planning process!! I would like point out once again to also see my review of these vendors in regards to our day of experience. The food and venue and service on the day of the wedding was exceptional and for this I am very grateful. I have attempted to also post my positive review but Yelp will not allow that. Below are my comments regarding our Day of Experience - Please see my other 1 star review on my experience leading up to the day of in regards to working with Sugar Pine (SP) and The St. Vrain (TSV) This review specifically addresses our experience the day of. Despite a long hard road that involved a lot of tears and angry emails and phone calls, the end result was a beautiful and loving event for my daughter and her husband. The service provided by the SP and TSV staff for our event was outstanding. A special shout out to the bar staff as they were personable and provided great service to our guests. The food - beginning with the bridal and grooms room food all the way until the late night snack - was beautiful and delicious. And the service was exceptional as well. The entire team seemed very eager to make their day special once we arrived at the venue and, for the most part, everything went very smoothly. The venue is perfection and exactly what my daughter and her husband had envisioned and provided the intimate experience that they wanted for their guests. The family style meal was such a cool and unique way to share a meal at a wedding reception and also providing that loving environment that the happy couple wanted. You can truly see and taste the quality of the ingredients that SP uses and the presentation is amazing as well. read more

Sugar Pine Catered one of my friends weddings at the Riverbend in Lyons a couple of weeks ago and I was blown away. It's tough enough to get food "right" at a wedding with a full kitchen and a roof over your head. Sugar Pine went over and above for this wedding; serving hot, delicious food, family style, all at once from a kitchen in the tent!! Seriously it's hard to even type that! Every course was more delicious than the prior with exceptional portions for each table. The whole staff was very friendly and made sure we were very full!! We planned this wedding in Colorado while living in NYC, and we couldn't have pulled it off so well without Rachel. She is a phenomenal person who really walked us through everything we needed and was responsive to our needs. We needed a lot of communication and photos, since we lived 2,000 miles away and she accommodated. Sugar pine worked very well with our wedding coordinator and photographer. Wife and I detoured through Prospect and jammed on the brakes when we saw this cute spot. It becomes apparent they're scaled to cater more than serve customers here, but Covid has changed their strategy, and oh boy, do we get to benefit: These folks REALLY know how to cook, judging by their incomparable Cubano sandwich. Staggeringly good. The stuff of dreams. Reportedly the product of six years of refinement, and it tastes every second of it. I don't know what coating they use on the bread, but this guilty pleasure oozes soft hours-simmered pork, melty cheese and perfect pickles. Paired with their piping hot crunchy deep-fried Tater Tots plus a tasty cocktail (to cleanse the palate, y'know), it's drawn us back every Saturday to confirm it was really that good. And it is. I thought the Cubano at The Betsy hotel on Miami's South Beach set the standard, but it pales in comparison to this triumph. Treat yourself to absolute comfort food perfection! read more

The food was amazing...beautiful, tasty, unique and every dish was the right temperature.
