It would be reasonable to expect that a Midwestern city would offer some high quality local ice…read morecream, and this place appears to be the standard-bearer here. Branded as "Farm to cone", they have an exciting flavor variety to intrigue the adults in the room, of which there were quite a few. I sampled a more classic mint chocolate chip and a more experimental basil flavor with white chocolate chips, both kind of thematically similar. Both flavors hit hard, and the house waffle cone was thinner than I expected but pleasingly browned and it held up well. While the focus on dairy is expected, they do offer several sorbets for those whose dietary needs require it. Business was vigorous even on a midweek night, and I would note that for an ice cream place in an area where the sun does not set in summer until almost 9, they close on the early side, so hurry on over.

Yelp's 100 Ice Cream list came out right before we drove down to Omaha and saw this place on the…read morelist! So, of course, we had to stop by as a treat! We visited the Blackstone District location, but the other one had no parking and the area was so sketchy. Blackstone though is going through construction so we had to drive around, but we found street parking right in front! The shop is very cute, but small! I think service was friendly, I think I was just distracted with how many options there were! The ice cream flavors were interesting and I went with the basil white chocolate - it was so basil forward and I LOVED that. It had bites of white chocolate and I think it mellowed out the basil for me. Still, my favorite. My husband ordered cinnamon cheesecake for himself, and a tart cherry crumble - both of these were lovely! Seating is very limited as there is a bench inside with two round tables, but they are so close together you might as just sit outside at another set of two tables. Decently priced for gourmet ice cream and I loved the shout out on their wall of local farmers that supply certain ingredients!

I haven't lived in Council Bluffs since 1996, but when I do go back for a visit, I HAVE to go to…read moreChristy Creme. There's no getting around it; it must happen. In fact, I try not to visit between November and February due solely to the fact that Christy Creme is closed during those months. I grew up on their hamburgers, fries, malts, sherbert of the day and ice cream sandwiches. Nothing beats there food and ice cream. I often dream of eating there so it's a painful reminder to wake up and realize I'm 1,300 miles away.... If you live nearby, please do yourself a favor and stop in. If not for yourself, do it for me, who is not so lucky as to live close by. P.S. Please do not ever close!! It's terrible enough when you do during the winter months.

Having a bit of appetite, we ordered the Onion Rings -- they were delicious! Unlike some places, they use real onion slices. My only issue was that they provided ketchup instead of fry sauce. Ice cream flavor of the day was Lime ‍. That was unusual enough to grab my attention and I like tartness. Accordingly, I got a medium cone of Lime twisted with vanilla. Very tasty! I just wish they would have piled a bit more ice cream on that cone. My wife got an ice cream sandwich. She let it thaw while we devoured the onion rings and it was very good.
