I said I would never make it back here but decided to give it another shot for my daughter's birthday brunch. Again, highly disappointed. Everyone's food was brought out at different times making it hard to enjoy while you're waiting an additional 10 minutes for your food. 2 meals were brought out cold, which you think would be hard to believe after I've waited all the extra time. The complaint was received well by management, who remade the order (more wait time), however it seemed to give our server the biggest attitude. Had to try the famous Sugar Factory. First, ITS A VIBE!!! You just take photos at this place. It is kinda loud, so I wouldn't say a romantic place. It's definitely fun. The server we had was amazing. I have always wanted to check this place out because it looks like a lot of fun. I was so excited when I found out that Arizona was finally going to get one so I quickly made a reservation online. Booking online was easy and it was set for Saturday at 6:30pm. The day came and of course traffic was super bad. There were a bunch of birthdays being celebrated so it was pretty louddddd. The menu is pretty big and there is an assortment of drinks, food, and desserts. It can be quite overwhelming. I was not worried though because I had already studied the menu beforehand and I knew what I wanted. I had my eyes set on the Keven Hart Peach Lemonade gauntlet. No alcohol of course because I was driving. My sister and friend decided they were going to share an alcoholic gauntlet and they wanted a watermelon flavored one. We also ordered one spinach and artichoke dip to share and I had the brick chicken with mashed potatoes. The waitress came and took our orders. I ordered first and she said the Kevin Hart Peach drink was not available and that they had been out of it for some time so I ended up getting a different peach one... When I asked for the chicken, she said "let me check if we have it." Fortunately, they did. My friend ordered the watermelon flavored gauntlet and again the waitress said that they were "out of watermelon." The dip was in stock though, yay. The food and drinks took a while to come out. We waited about 30 minutes for just two drinks and about 40 minutes for our food. We kept chugging the free water since we were thirsty.. Our neighbors ordered the $150.00 sundae so we got to witness the funny - hype dance they do when it is ordered. The little girls face was so happy when she saw them performing for her, it was quite entertaining and probably a memorable experience for her. The drinks came out first. Mine turned out to be really good even though it was not what I wanted.. It was cold, sweet, sugary, and it had the perfect amount of fizz. My friend and sister said they couldn't really taste the alcohol in theirs and that it tasted like a plain mountain dew. They did not care for theirs. The dip was good and it came with a plate full of colorful chips - they were not stingy. The chicken was not my fave. It was lukewarm and a little chewy. The outside had a weird texture to it. The mashed potatoes were pretty good but again they were also lukewarm. Service was good. Our waitress did her best to come around as she was checking up on other customers. The gift shop is sad and has nothing worth buying as it was pretty empty. So not worth the time. They should have some cute Arizona Sugar Factory merch but all I saw was overpriced candy. One of the neon signs was already malfunctioning and on the word "love" only the LO were lit up - thus ruining pictures. Overall, I would've liked if they had every drink listed on their menu available for purchase. Why have a massive menu when only a select items are in stock? They have a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, ice cream and much more! There were also sliders in all the colors of the rainbow! If Willy Wonka made burgers, they would look just like these! The only surprise was that many of the non-alcoholic drinks were in the $30-$40.00 range. Service was great and all staff members we encountered during our visit were friendly. The main reason for the drop in stars is due to the quality of the food and the price of the food. Also an overwhelming options to the menu (this could be a good and bad thing). We ordered three different plates and all with the exception of the burger the food was not of quality and hard to finish. This type of environment is more known for their over the top drinks which are really "photo/video friendly". Also when you purchase the birthday sundaes it comes with a good amount of ice cream to share and they have staff sing to you! I would not recommend this place at all. The entire process took over 3 hours. We called ahead to make a reservation and were told it was dead and no reservation was necessary. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 1.5 hour wait. I gave the front desk my number, but no one ever called us when our table was ready. When we checked back in, they claimed they had been waiting for us--even though we never got a call or text. We came with a party of 10 just for the Kong ice cream. When we were finally seated, the bowls we were given were filthy. We told the waitress, and she took them but never came back with clean ones. Several people asked for drinks, and again, the waitress never returned. By the time we received our check, the ice cream had completely melted into soup. I ordered the Kong ice cream, which is around $100, but my bill came out to nearly $150 due to service charges and an automatic gratuity--despite the fact that the waitress only brought us one item and never returned with anything else we asked for. We decided to go here for lunch today (Monday) around 2ish...it was empty. The restaurant is very bright and VERY pink. The first thing hubby said was it reminded him of Las Vegas...and, it really does!! We ordered our drinks: water and iced tea. The iced tea is sweetened, they don't have unsweetened. And, the glasses were like small tumblers, very pretty to look at, but don't really hold a lot of your beverage. Luckily, our server was on top of it and kept our glasses full. We wanted a starter, but after looking at the menu, decided to choose a Chicken Quesadilla and split it. It was good, very cheesy and the chicken had a tangy rub on it. It came with a tomatillo sauce and what looked like applesauce. After asking, we were told it was their salsa. Hubby really liked the tomatillo sauce a lot. For our entrees, we both got burgers. I got the Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger...no bacon (if you've read my other reviews, you know I don't like bacon on my burger), no pickles, no shredded lettuce or tomatoes. It did have bleu cheese crumbles, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions and their Sugar Factory sauce (like thousand island) on a toasted brioche bun. It was a delicious burger! Perfectly medium and very juicy. I enjoyed it immensely!! Hubby got the Big Cheesy Burger...no pickles. It comes with what looks like a tin can on top of it, our waiter lifts it up and the cheese sauce drips over the entire burger. It looked very messy, but he loved it!! A little hard to eat, but he managed with a fork and knife...LOL!! The burgers come with a side of their fries, which were very good!! Both of our burgers were supposed to come with fried onion straws, which we didn't realize were left off until we were done. They would've made for a really nice crunchy texture to our burgers. Since it's the Sugar Factory and there's candy and sweets all over the menu, we decided to order dessert. We shared the Cookie Skillet with vanilla ice cream. It came to the table in a little skillet with a side of multi-colored white chocolate (we didn't pour it over...too sweet) and a little shot glass of M&M's. We were so excited to dig in, but were met with a very hard cookie. We were surprised to find that it wasn't hot or warm. We were able to dig out the middle, which was very tasty, full of nutella and chocolate chips, but disappointed that it wasn't gooey with melted ice cream over it. We asked our waiter about it and he said it's supposed to be hot. Oh well... Overall, it wasn't a bad meal, but there were definitely some things to improve on. They should really offer unsweetened ice tea and, please, use bigger glasses!!! And, make sure to have all the components on the burgers. Also, if your Cookie Skillet is supposed to be hot...serve it hot!!! I will say, our server was very nice, so sorry I didn't get his name. He was friendly and honest with us. The restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms (another reviewer said they were disgusting...they were not). I have a feeling we're going to come back here again. We stopped at the Sugar Factory after leaving the Fiesta Bowl. We wanted something fun and exciting for lunch. We arrived and were seated right away. The restaurant had four tables when we arrived so we were surprised it took over five minutes for someone to take our order. When they arrived they asked about drinks and we provided our entire order right away. We ordered chicken tenders and the waffle burger(medium). Approximately 15 minutes later the chicken tenders, which are shipped in frozen, arrived and we were notified the burger would be out shortly. Our server checked on us seven minutes later and informed us it wouldn't be much longer. The breakfast burger arrived two minutes later with cold fries, dried-out sausage and bacon(not crispy), an overcooked egg, and a burger patty cooked medium well to well done. Sour apple martini: super delicious and comes with a lollipop and pop rocks on the rim Chicken wing sampler: BOMB. Their wings are a great size and have the perfect crisp to them. All great flavors and I love that the buffalo wasn't too spicy. It comes with honey mustard and ranch dipping sauces. Definitely a good portion for sharing. Stay clear of this place. Their ac has been out for over a month. They don't even tell you when you make a reservation or walk in, instead you are seated and in the dark until you look at the thermostat and it's 89! Who is running this place? I do think Sugar Factory needs to regroup, go back to drawing board, and have a solid plan of action for a successful restaurant because what they have now ain't gonna work.
