I got caught up in a terrible rain storm and ran my way in. At dinner time there was only one table dining in when I arrived. I was sat near the back and had a full view of the restaurant. The restaurant interior is gorgeous. I liked all the decorations and warm lighting that provides a relaxing atmosphere. There were several flies inside but the tables all had tabletop fans that spin to keep them away from the food. My food was very yummy. I really liked the plantains. The chicken and peppers was a generous serving. The rice and beans went together great. I thought everything on the menu had decent prices and was affordable. I ended up taking half my dinner to-go because it was alot. I looked at the giant pastry counter display in the front. Definitely would have to stop in another time, maybe for breakfast to get some.

You can find this sweet ice cream store in Journal Plaza in the spot formerly occupied by Lake Placid Soda & Ice Cream Works. Cherry on Top is owned by local couple, Anthony and Rene Haney. During the Caladium Festival I found myself in need of some cooling refreshment so I wandered into this adorable ice cream shop with a vintage vibe. Ice cream flavors included cotton candy, vanilla, creamsicle, birthday cake, white chocolate raspberry, and black raspberry fudge. They serve Yoders Southern Creamery ice cream made in Sarasota by the Amish. If you need non dairy, they offer two types of fruit sorbet. The young people working were so friendly and nice. I ordered a cup of my go to flavor, chocolate chip mint. It was chock full of chocolate just the way I like it. One scoop was only three dollars and change. They also offer freshly baked waffle cones , shakes, floats, and craft glass bottle sodas. There are tables out front where you can enjoy your treat and take in the comings and goings of Journal Plaza.

- Cheesesteak sacrilege but delicious! -…read more I spent many years living outside Philly and I know my way around a cheesesteak. Today I went crazy in a wonderful way. Read on- Ambience- I sat at the tiny bar which has 8 comfortable high stools with backs. This is great if you're running solo and in a hurry. Customer Service- My bartender was excellent as usual and quickly gave me a menu and an ice-cold Stella draft. Food- I ordered the incredible Philly Cheesesteak Fries! Everything that's in a good cheesesteak including mushrooms & onions poured over an order of perfect fries and smothered in provolone! To make it over-the-top amazing a spent and extra buck and added chopped pepperoni for $14 total. Pictures- I wasn't the only one snapping pictures! Strangers were walking by and asking if they could grab a photo. That's happened before with this dish. Personal Experience- OMG, I moaned with every savory piping-hot bite! Other customers at the bar were smiling and I enjoyed every minute of my low cholesterol lunch! It's later in the day now and I've finally recovered from my food coma and I'm able to write this well-deserved 5-star review!

By the time our friendly waitress came to take our order, I was ready to follow Steven's advice and try one of their pizzas. It did not take long before a small pie arrived, generously topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and onions. The flavors were spot on, and with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a little kick, it was perfect. I enjoyed it so much that while we spent the next 20 minutes chatting about travel, Yelp, and my sprinter van, I looked down to find I had polished off the entire pizza without even realizing it. Service was warm and attentive throughout. Our waitress made sure we were well cared for and handled splitting the check with ease. Market 27 also offers a wide variety of drinks, from sodas to beers. I went with a macro brew this time, but next visit I will branch out and try something different. Overall, Market 27 delivered a welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and great service. It's an excellent choice for a casual meet‑up or a satisfying meal.
